THIS GUIDE
This guide covers the connection of the DabWiFi5 tuner to a Bang & Olufsen system.
Check the User Guide for the DabWiFi5 tuner for the daily control with a Bang & Olufsen remote.
THE DABWIFI5 MUST BE SETUP TO THE BANG & OLUFSEN SYSTEM
When the DabWiFi5 tuner’s location in the Bang & Olufsen system has been established it needs
to be programmed to fit that location. It shall be programmed with an Option.
The DabWiFi5 tuner is factory programmed with Option 102 making it possible to switching
DabWiFi5 on and controlling it by pressing yor bon a Bang & Olufsen remote.
If the Bang & Olufsen system has a vacant input socket that is activated by pressing yor
b, all it takes is connecting the DabWiFi5 tuner to this socket, completing the installation
that way.
If the Bang & Olufsen system is without a vacant input socket activated by selecting yor
b, another vacant input must be found, and the corresponding option added to the
DabWiFi5 tuner.
The DabWiFi5 tuner must know its place in the B&O system, to be able to synchronize with it.

CONNECT DABWIFI5 WITH DEFAULT PERSONALITY.
The DabWiFi5 tuner is factory programmed with the personality y/ b.
This example shows a setup with a Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 9000.
Press y/ bon the B&O
remote control to accomplish:
1. Power on of the B&O radio with its
ATAPE/ AMEM input selected.
2. Power on of the DabWiFi5, as its
personality is set to be AMEM.
3. Now the B&O remote is in full
control of the DabWiFi5.
Some Bang & Olufsen devices only have a single input socket. This socket might be activated via
other commands than y/ b. In these cases the personality of the DabWiFi5 can be
changed for it to power up on the suitable command like AAUX or CD or other else.
The personality of DabWiFi5 is changed via an option as described on page 9.

VOLUME
The volume level is PRIMARILY controlled via the B&O device with speakers connected, using the
ordinary volume control keys on the B&O remote.
Thus the DabWiFi5’s volume out level should normally be set at the maximum level.
Note that the volume level may be altered in three different ways using:
1. The B&O remote’s volume keys, controlling the B&O device that the DabWiFi5 is
connected to.
2. The B&O remote’s left and right arrows, altering the DabWiFi5 output volume, when
DabWiFi5 is in a selected mode.
3. A smartphone/ tablet APP that controls the DabWiFi5 via a WiFi connection.
INSTALLATION
Connection to Bang & Olufsen Devices
The OneRemote DabWiFi5 tuner connects to any Bang & Olufsen device with a vacant audio input
socket like on a BeoSound, BeoCenter, BeoMaster or a BeoVision TV and is controlled with a Bang
& Olufsen remote. DabWiFi5 may also be connected to equipment of all other brands, but it can
only be controlled with a Bang & Olufsen remote.
Through the years peripheral inputs have been added, removed or renamed on Bang & Olufsen
equipment. For example the selection with newer Bang & Olufsen remotes $has replaced
former hy or K.
In the chapter Bang & Olufsen Equipment and OneRemote Options inputs, designations and the
corresponding opening sources are listed for various Bang & Olufsen units. Thus, it is possible for
all Bang & Olufsen units listed to select an input, its designation and the opening source
corresponding to a DabWiFi5 tuner option and the remote command enabling control of the
tuner.
DabWiFi5 is delivered with a 7-pin DataLink and RCA cable, thus the DabWiFi5 may be connected
to Bang & Olufsen radios from 1986 till now.

CONNECTIONS
ANTENNA CONNECTION
The OneRemote DabWiFi5 tuner needs an antenna signal of sufficient strength and quality.
If both DAB and FM channels are received the antenna shall provide a signal containing both
frequencies.
•If the FM signal does not provide a sufficient strength the reception is noisy and very poor.
•If the DAB signal is of a poor quality, the sound disappears intermittently.

OPTIONS
Option programming of the DabWiFi5 tuner is only required during the initial installation. A Bang
& Olufsen remote is used for this programming activity.
Programming the DabWiFI5 with one or more options makes the DabWiFi5 fit the actual Bang &
Olufsen system that it is now a part of.
Options might also be used to activate or de-activate various special functions. Thus, more options
might be required to be entered, and when so they are added one by one.
When DabWiFi5 is connected to power, a blue light on the front is flashing for 8 seconds.
Only while the light flashes blue, is it possible to program an option. If missed or if there is a need
to entering further options, power must be removed for 20 seconds.
While programming an option, only the keys and 1to 9are being used.
Programming is finalized by pressing the standby key w. This, or any other key, will make
DabWiFi5 abandon the programming mode, ending the lamp flashing blue.
Programming is started by pressing and ended by pressing w. All options have 3 digits
entered between these two.
When power is applied and the blue lamp flashes:
1. Within 8 secs: Press Lon the Bang & Olufsen remote.
2. Within 8 secs: Press the first option digit on the Bang & Olufsen remote.
3. Within 8 secs: Press the second option digit on the Bang & Olufsen remote.
4. Within 8 secs: Press the third option digit on the Bang & Olufsen remote.
5. Within 8 secs: Press won the Bang & Olufsen remote.
(The power off key with a red dot).
6. Instantaneously the blue control light is switched off.

From the factory the DabWiFi5 has the personality of an ATAPE/AMEM device. Thus, is can be
connected to an input socket of a Bang & Olufsen device that is selected when yor bis
pressed on the Bang & Olufsen remote.
If there is no socket available on the Bang & Olufsen device selected with yor b, the
DabWiFi5 must be option programmed to have another personality.
Options may be programmed only at booting of the DabWiFi5, while the blue lamp is flashing.

CONNECT THE DABWIFI5 TUNER TO BEOLAB 3500
A BeoLab 3500 in a link system may access a DabWiFi5 tuner connected to a Bang & Olufsen radio
or TV in the same link system.
As an example, the DabWiFi5 tuner may be connected to an ATAPE input socket on a radio or a
VAUX socket on a TV.
If a BeoLab 3500 is connected in a link system that includes B&O Radios OR B&O TV’s, the
DabWiFi5 tuner may be connected via a BeoLink Converter.

The following tables show the available input sockets in various Bang & Olufsen audio and video
products, how to select them using a remote control terminal and what the corresponding option
program of the One Remote DabWiFi5 tuner should be.
The OneRemote DabWiFi5 tuner must be programmed with the correct option to operate in the
actual Bang & Olufsen environment.

If the MasterLink socket is not in use, the DabWiFi5
tuner might be connected and operated via a BeoLink
Converter, using this socket. The DabWiFi5 can then be
accessed using T,aor another video
