1. Introduction:
The OnQ 2x10 KSU/PBX Telephone System is a complete voice processing system, specifically
designed for today’s connected home.
The system uses a series of Voice Prompts (VPs) and Outgoing Greeting Messages (OGMs) to guide
users through the system. These digitally recorded audio scripts play at different times and allow you to
record a Greeting Message that lets callers’ direct dial to a specific extension phone.
The system gives you your own voicemail system so you can record callers’ messages with a day and
time stamp.
The Phone System switches between the Day Mode and Night Mode automatically when you set the
times in the internal clock.
The system has several additional built in features. See manual for details on system features and use.
2. Description:
The OnQ 2x10 KSU/PBX Telephone System is a completely integrated unit. The system package
includes the Phone System Module, a power supply, this install sheet and a manual on CD.
Figure 1 identifies all the interfaces on the phone system.
All telephone interfaces are industry standard RJ45 (8 position) jacks. The Music on Hold (MOH) port is
a standard audio RCA jack. The 5.5 mm power jack is designed for the system power supply.

The Telephone System is designed to mount in OnQ Structured Wiring Enclosures. The mounting tabs
(Item 9, Figure 1) and mounting plunger & grommet (Item 10, Figure 1) are all that is needed to install.
3. Installation:
A. Mount the OnQ 2x10 PBX/KSU Telephone System in any OnQ Service Center
1. Align tabs on module with slots on rail of enclosure.
2. Insert tabs (Item 9, Figure 1) by angling module away from the back of the enclosure and
sliding forward.
3. Rotate the module and insert fasteners (Item 10, Figure 1) on module into corresponding
holes on rail of enclosure. (Plunger must be in the pulled out position for fastener to engage
hole.)
4. Push plunger in to lock module in place. Pull on module to ensure module is locked properly
in place.
B. Connect the incoming service to the Line In jack on the system (Item 2, Figure 1), using an RJ45
plug connector. You may bring in up to 4 incoming phone lines. The RJ45 plug should be
terminated to TIA 568A wiring standard.
Caution: Do not plug incoming service into a station zone jack.
C. Connect Extensions to zone jacks (Item 1, Figure 1), using an RJ45 plug. The RJ45 plug should
be terminated to TIA 568A wiring standard.
D. Connect Music on Hold (MOH) from source to MOH jack using standard RCA plug, if desired.
See manual for appropriate source and programming.
E. Connect Power supply to the unit by plugging into 5.5mm power jack (Item 3, Figure 1). Plug
power supply into 120VAC outlet.
Note: Use ONLY the power supply provided. Plug power supply into properly installed and
grounded outlet.
The system is designed for quick set up. There are no switches, jumpers, adjustment or serviceable
components.

4. Programming the System
The OnQ Phone System is shipped with factory default settings to allow for a quick start up. There are
only two steps required, after equipment installation, to have the system functioning. The internal clock
must be set and OGM-01, must be recorded. Programming may be done with any touch tone phone
connected to any extension.
A. Set the internal clock to local time.
To set the time: Dial * 20 plus Day (1 digit), Hour (2 digits) and Minutes (2 digits), hear confirmation
tone, hang-up.
Notes:
1. Use 24 Hour Time: 6AM=06 and 6PM=18
2. The day of the week is based on numbers 0 thru 6; Sunday is considered the first day of
week so it's day 0; Monday is day 1, Tuesday day 2, Wednesday day 3, etc.
For example: To set Tuesday, Second Day of Week @ 6:30PM.

B. Record OGM Greetings.
You should record at least OGM01 or 02. Use any standard telephone plugged into an Extension
(Zone) to record. For best results don't use a speakerphone or cordless phone to record
greetings. Dial-in-Handset phones are harder to use than a regular desk phone.
To record:
1. Dial 53 plus OGM number
2. Listen for the confirmation tone (CNF): beep-beep
3. Speak and Record. When finished dial # to stop recording.
The recording will automatically play back for your review.

or stay on the line.”
NOTE: The system will operate without performing these steps, however the caller will not get any
feedback to leave a message without the OGM-01 being recorded, and time stamp will not be local
time or day on messages.
