Single Channel 170 MHz Wireless
FM PA Amplifier System
Your Optimus Single Channel 170
MHz Wireless FM PA Amplifier is de-
signed for classrooms, meeting
rooms, or anywhere sound reinforce-
ment is desired. It can serve as a sin-
gle channel wireless microphone
receiver, a wired microphone amplifi-
er or both. It has a 20 watt audio am-
plifier and two audio inputs you can
control separately. It is powered by AC
120V/60Hz or DC 12V.
Note: This system requires a wireless
or wired microphone (not supplied) for
operation. Your local RadioShack
store has a variety of wireless and
wired microphones.
170 MHz Operation Frequency —to
assure accurate sound reproduction.
Volume Controls —let you adjust the
volume of a wireless and wired micro-
phone.
Compander Noise Reduction —
greatly reduces low-frequency noises.
Internal Helical Antenna —receives
microphone signals up to 150 feet
away.
Wired and Wireless Microphone
Use Simultaneously —lets you use
wired and wireless microphones at the
same time.
Your amplifier is ETL listed to UL stan-
dards and meets all applicable FCC
standards.

Connecting Power
You can power your amplifier with the
supplied AC and DC power cords.
AC Power Cord
Caution:
You must use only the sup-
plied AC power cord. If you
lose or damage this cord, order
a replacement from your local Ra-
dioshack store. Using other power cords
could damage the amplifier. Be sure am-
plifier POWER is set to OFF before you
connect the power cord. Always plug the
power cord into the amplifier’s 120V AC
60Hz jack first, and always unplug the
power cord from the AC outlet first.
Set the amplifier to OFF. Plug the power
cord’s small plug into the amplifier’s
120V AC 60Hz jack. Then plug the other
end of the cord into a standard AC out-
let.
DC Power
Caution:
You must use only the sup-
plied DC power cord. If you
lose or damage this cord, order
a replacement from your local Ra-
dioshack store. Using other power cords
could damage the amplifier. Be sure am-
plifier POWER is set to OFF before you
connect the power cord. Always plug the
power cord into the amplifier’s DC 14.4V/
2.5A jack first, and always unplug the
power cord from the12V accessory out-
let outlet first.
Make sure the amplifier is set to OFF
and plug the power cord’s barrel plug
into the DC 14.4V/2.5A jack. Then plug
the other end of the cord into a standard
DC source such as an automobile 12V
accessory outlet.

Operation
1. Set VOLUME to the minimum level.
2. Set ON/OFF to ON. The power indi-
cator lights.
3. Set the wireless microphone’s OFF/
STANDBY/ON switch to ON. The
READY indicator lights.
4. Adjust WIRELESS MIC VOLUME to
the desired level slowly.
5. Connect the wired microphone to
the amplifier’s MIC jack located on
the back of the amplifier.
6. Set the microphone’ switch to ON.
7. Adjust your amplifier’s wired micro-
phone volume control to the desired
level.
8. Turn the volume levels to the mini-
mum position and press the power
switch to OFF when the amplifier is
not in use.
Note: You can use a wireless micro-
phone and a wired microphone at the
same time.

Troubleshooting
If you have problems operating your amplifier, try these suggestions. If you still have
problems, contact your local RadioShack store for assistance.
Problem Suggestion
No power Make sure the AC cord is properly connected.
Make sure the DC power is properly connected.
Make sure the power is turned on.
Check the fuse and replace it if needed.
No sound (wireless microphone) Make sure your transmitter and amplifier are
operating on the same frequency.
Adjust the wireless microphone volume control.
Make sure the microphone transmitter is work-
ing and you are within the 150 ft range of opera-
tion.
No sound (wired microphone) Make sure your wired microphone is properly
connected and the microphone is not defective.
Adjust the wired microphone volume control.

Replacing the Fuse
If the amplifier does not operate, you
might need to replace the fuse on the
back of the amplifier.
Important: Let the amplifier cool down
and see if it starts again before you re-
place the fuse.
Caution: Do not use a fuse with ratings
other than those specified here. Doing
so might damage your amplifier.
1. Set the amplifier to OFF and unplug
it.
2. Insert a flat-blade screwdriver into
the fuse holder’s cap located on the
back of the amplifier and carefully
rotate it counterclockwise.
3. Remove the fuse holder’s cap then
pull out the cap to remove the fuse.
4. If the fuse is blown (the inside wire
is broken), remove it and replace it
with the same type of 1.5A/125V
fuse.
5. Insert the fuse holder’s cap back
into the socket on the back of the
amplifier.
6. Carefully tighten the fuse holder’s
cap by rotating it clockwise.
Care
To enjoy your Optimus Single Channel
170 MHz Wireless FM PA Amplifier for a
long time:
• Keep the amplifier dry. If it gets wet,
wipe it dry immediately.
• Use and store the amplifier only in
normal temperature environments.
• Handle the amplifier gently and
carefully. Don’t drop it.
• Keep the amplifier away from dust
and dirt.
• Wipe the amplifier with a damp cloth
occasionally to keep it looking new.
Modifying or tampering with the amplifi-
er’s internal components can cause a
malfunction and invalidate its warranty
and void your FCC authorization to op-
erate it. If your amplifier is not perform-
ing as it should, take it to your local
RadioShack store for assistance.
