FEATURES
Your Optimus Stereo Amplified Listener Headset boosts the sounds
around you. You can easily use the listener headset almost anywhere,
because there are no cords to hassle with or heavy equipment to carry.
It is perfect for classrooms, church, late night TV listening — any time
you need sounds amplified without disturbing others. Or, you can take
it with you on field trips to amplify nature's sounds.
Your listener headset's features include:
Dual Microphones — provide a proper “spatial” sound to maintain a
natural sense of sound direction.
Inte
g
rated Desi
g
n— incorporates microphones into the headset, so
there's no need for any outside connection.
Volume Control — lets you adjust the overall sound level.
3-Band Equalizer — adjusts the sound in three specific ranges. You
can select human voice range (900 Hz), midrange (3 kHz), or treble (6
kHz) frequencies to suit your listening needs.
Automatic Gain Control — protects your hearing by limiting the sound
level when a sudden loud sound occurs.
Balance Control — lets you adjust the balance between the left and
right channels for the most natural sound.
Small Current Circuit — prolongs battery life to more than 50 hours
with two AAA alkaline batteries.
Note: This device is not intended to be used as a hearing aid. If you
have trouble hearing at normal sound levels, we recommend that you
consult a hearing specialist.

INSTALLING BATTERIES
Your listener headset requires two AAA batteries for operation. For the
longest battery life, we recommend alkaline batteries, such as Ra-
dioShack Cat. No. 23-555.
Follow these steps to install the listener headset's batteries.
1. Slide the battery compartment cover in the direction of the arrow
to open it.
Note: The cover is not removable. Do not force it.
2. Install the batteries as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and –)
marked inside the compartment.
Note: Use only fresh batteries of the required size and type.
Always remove old or weak batteries. They can leak chemicals
that destroy electronic circuits.
3. Replace the cover.
The listener headset can operate for about 50 hours with alkaline bat-
teries. If the amplification level weakens or the sound distorts, replace
the batteries.
Note: If you do not plan to use the listener headset for a week or more,
remove the batteries.

out to get the proper fit.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Your Optimus Stereo Amplified Listener Headset is an example of su-
perior design and craftsmanship. The following suggestions will help
you care for your listener headset so you can enjoy it for years.
Keep the listener headset dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry
immediately. Liquids might contain minerals that can
corrode the electronic circuits.
Handle the listener headset gently and carefully. Drop-
ping it can damage circuit boards and cases and can
cause the listener headset to work improperly.
Use and store the listener headset only in normal tem-
perature environments. Temperature extremes can
shorten the life of electronic devices and distort or melt
plastic parts.
Keep the listener headset away from dust and dirt,
which can cause premature wear of parts.
Wipe the listener headset with a damp cloth occasional-
ly to keep it looking new. Do not use harsh chemicals,
cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean the lis-
tener headset.
Modifying or tampering with the listener headset’s internal components
can cause a malfunction and might invalidate your (product name’s)
warranty. If your listener headset is not performing as it should, take it
to your local RadioShack store for assistance.
