Thank you or selecting the Oregon Scienti icTM RM818P
Cool RF Projection Clock with Animated Projection as
your product o choice.
This device is designed to give you many years o reliable
service, including the ollowing conveniences:
• Radio-controlled calendar clock*
•Daily dual alarm with 8-minute Snooze
• Vibrating wake-up device (Optional)
*Automatically synchronizes the current time and date
when it is brought within range o the radio signal DCF77
generated rom Frank urt, Germany or Central Europe
or MSF60 generated rom Rugby, England.
Keep this manual handy as you use your new
product. It contains practical step-by-step instructions,
sa ety and care in ormation, technical speci ications and
warnings you should know. Read the manual thoroughly,
and keep it in a sa e place in case you need to re er to it.

1. Battery compartment
• The unit uses 2 AAA / UM-4 1.5V batteries or
power.
2. Adaptor slot

• Returns all settings to de ault values.
4. [EU / UK] switch
• Slide to select your nearest radio signal base i.e.
England or Germany.
5. UP button
• Press and hold or 2 seconds to enable and start
the RF unction when in normal mode.
• Press to increase the lashing item by 1 in Setting
mode.
6. DOWN button
• Press and hold or 2 seconds to disable the RF
unction when in normal mode.
• Press to decrease the lashing item by 1 in Setting
mode.
7. PROJECTION ON button
• Press to activate projection and backlight or
5 seconds.
• Press to enable continuous projection with AC
adaptor connected.

UNPACKIN THE PRODUCT
When you unpack your product, make sure to keep all
the packing materials in a sa e place, in case you need
to later transport or return it or servicing.
The ollowing items should be included in this package:

• Batteries (2 x UM-4 AAA-sized 1.5V)

BATTERIES
To load the batteries:

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Please observe the ollowing sa ety precautions when
setting up and using this product.
• LCD panel-The LCD panel is made o glass,
and may break i the unit is dropped.
• Heat sources-Keep the product away rom heat
sources, such as radiators, stoves, heaters, and
other heat-generating products.
• Water and moisture-Do not use the product in
or near water or in high moisture areas, such as
a bathroom.
CARIN FOR YOUR PRODUCT
To ensure you receive the maximum bene it rom using
this product, please observe the ollowing guidelines:
• Cleaning-Use a damp cloth. Do not use liquid
cleaning agents, benzene, thinner, or aerosols.
• Ventilation-The vents and other openings are
designed or ventilation, and should not be
blocked or covered.
• Blocking the vents can cause the product to
overheat, and can damage the unit.
• Repair-Do not attempt to repair the product or
modi y the circuitry by yoursel . Contact the
retailer or a quali ied repairman i the product
requires servicing. Only use replacement parts
that are recommended by the manu acturer.

1. Locate the battery compartment.
2. Install the batteries by matching the correct
polarity. Always use the correct battery type
(2 x UM-4 AAA-sized 1.5V batteries).
WARNIN Reversing the polarity may damage the
product.
Replace the batteries whenever the low battery
icon is shown , the display is dim, or the display
does not illuminate when the power is on. Replace all
the batteries at the same time-it is dangerous to mix old
and new batteries.
ADAPTOR
By plugging in the adaptor, the projector will project the
time on the wall / ceiling continuously.

Even though there are areas that may have more
di iculty in receiving a signal, the Radio-controlled / RF
clock contains accurate quartz movement and will retain
precise timing i the signal is missed on a rare occasion.
Reception can be a ected by a number o
actors. For best reception, place the device away rom
metal objects and electrical appliances. Other causes
or signal inter erence include electrical transmission
tower, steel rein orced construction, and metal siding.
Reception is ideal when placed near a window.
NOTE
When the unit is receiving the signal, the Radio
Reception symbol with start to blink. Generally, complete
reception takes around 2 to 10 minutes, depending on
the strength o the signal.
To select the most suitable radio signal or your location,
slide the [EU / UK] switch to the appropriate setting.
Press [RESET] whenever you have changed the
selected setting.

RADIO RECEPTION
This product is designed to synchronize its calendar
clock automatically once it is brought within range o
the radio signal.

ENABLIN / DISABLIN RECEPTION
To manually enable the reception o the RF signal:
1. Press and hold the UP button or 2 seconds until the
Radio Reception symbol appears and lashes.
To manually disable the reception o the RF signal:
2. Press and hold the DOWN button or 2 seconds until
the Radio Reception symbol disappears.
SETTIN THE CLOCK MANUALLY
To adjust the clock settings manually without automatic
RF synchronization, remember to disable the Radio
Reception irst.
To set the clock manually there ore:
1. Press and hold the DOWN button or 2 seconds
until the Radio Reception symbol disappears.
2. Press and hold the CLOCK button to enter the clock-
setting mode. Then use the UP or DOWN button to
adjust the value o each setting.
CLOCK MODE
The Clock mode has 3 types o display:
a) HH_MM_SS / Calendar
b) HH_MM_Day-of-the-Week / Calendar

Press the CLOCK button to toggle between the
three modes.
CLOCK SETTIN MODE
To set the time:
1. Press and hold the CLOCK button or more than
2 seconds.
2. Press the CLOCK button two more times. (Use the
UP and DOWN buttons to adjust the hour).
NOTE
3. Press the CLOCK button once more to set the
minutes. (Use the UP and DOWN buttons to adjust
the minutes).

3. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to select the time
ormat (whether 12-hour to 24-hour ormat).
4. Press the ALARM button to exit the set mode.
TIME FORMAT SETTIN MODE
To set the current date:
1. Press and hold the CLOCK button or 2 seconds.
2. Press CLOCK our more times.
3. Use the Up and Down buttons to select the year.
4. Press the CLOCK button to set the date ormat by
using the UP and DOWN buttons.
5. Press the CLOCK button to set month using the
UP and DOWN buttons.
6. Press CLOCK again to set the date, and then press
ALARM button to exit the set mode.
4. Press the ALARM button to exit the set mode.
To select the time zone:
1. Press and hold the CLOCK button or 2 seconds.
The time-zone o set hour digits will blink. Use
the UP and DOWN buttons to select your time zone
(e.g. +1, the time displayed will be the RF clock
time plus 1 hour).
2. Press the ALARM button to exit the set mode.
TIME ZONE SETTIN MODE
To select time ormat:
1. Press and hold the CLOCK button or 2 seconds.
2. Press the CLOCK button once again.

DATE FORMAT SETTIN MODE

YEAR-SETTIN MODE
The order o the lashing items is: time zone
o set, 12 / 24hr ormat, hour, minute, year, DM<MD,
month, day, language, exit clock setting mode.
SELECTIN A LAN UA E
The main unit can display the weekday in ive di erent
selectable languages: English, German, French, Italian
and Spanish.
To choose a language:
1. Press and hold the CLOCK button or 2 seconds.
2. Press CLOCK eight times.
3. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to select the
language.

4. Press the CLOCK button once more to exit the set
mode.
LAN UA E SETTIN MODE
Press the ALARM button or the PROJECTION
ON button to exit the Clock Setting mode. Any changed
item will be e ective a terward.

The three squiggly lines indicate "on" or the
optional vibrating wake up device.
SETTIN THE ALARM TIME
Press and hold the Alarm button or 2 seconds to enter
the Alarm Setting mode.
To adjust the alarm time, make sure that the alarm time
is currently displayed on the LCD screen. (To do this,
press the ALARM button).
To set the alarm time:
1. Press and hold the ALARM button or 2 seconds.
2. Adjust the hour o the alarm time by using the UP
and DOWN buttons.

BASIC FUNCTIONS
When the alarm sounds:
• The backlight will go on or 5 seconds;
• The projection will go on or 5 seconds;
• And i you have a vibration device, it will vibrate
or 1.5 minutes.
To turn o the alarm sound:
• Press any button.
I you do not press any button, the alarm will
automatically stop ringing a ter 2 minutes.
DISPLAYIN THE ALARM TIME
By de ault, the unit's LCD screen displays the current
date and month.
To display the alarm time instead:
1. Press the ALARM button.

3. Adjust the minute o the alarm time by using the
UP and DOWN buttons.
4. Press the ALARM button when done.
5. Select the alarm types (sound only; vibration alarm
only or both) by using the UP and DOWN buttons.
6. Press the ALARM button when done.
The alarm time should now be displayed.
ACTIVATIN / DEACTIVATIN THE ALARM
To set the alarm on:
1. Press the ON / OFF button.
You will see the bell icon appear beside the
date on the lower hal o the LCD display. The irst bell
will turn on the alarm or Alarm #1. I you press the
ON / OFF button a second time, you will activate the
second alarm as well (as shown by the appearance o
the second bell icon beside the date but below the bell
icon or the irst alarm).
THE SNOOZE FUNCTION
While the alarm is ringing, press the SNOOZE / LI HT
button to stop the Alarm sound and enable the Snooze
unction.
When the Snooze unction is enabled, the Snooze alarm
will last between 8 and 9 minutes. Also, the snooze
unction will be disabled i 1) the clock time is changed;
2) or the ON / OFF button is pressed.
When the Snooze unction is enabled, the Bell
Icon will be lashing.

I the AC / DC adaptor is plugged, press the
PROJECTOR ON and the projector will stay
continuously on. Press the PROJECTOR ON button
again to deactivate the continuous projection-on unction.
ANIMATION SPEED SETTIN
To enter to the projector setting mode:
1. Press the PROJECTOR ON button or 2 seconds.
2. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to select either ast
or slow animation.
3. Press the PROJECTION ON button to con irm.

THE PROJECTOR FUNCTION
ACTIVATIN THE PROJECTOR
To turn on the projector:
1. Press the SNOOZE button to activate the projector
or 5 seconds. The order o the Flashing items is speed
high / slow, alarm animation on / o , exit project setting
mode.

To lip the projected time upside down:
1. Press the SNOOZE / LI HT button.
2. While the projector is on, press the SNOOZE / LI HT
button again to lip the time.
3. To lip again, press the SNOOZE / LI HT button
again, etc.
THE VIBRATIN DEVICE (OPTIONAL)
The vibrating wake-up device receives a signal rom the
main unit and per orms a wake-up unction by vibrating.
It is designed to go under your pillow. You can purchase
the device separately.
The device has a range o roughly 15 meters and has
an LED meter to show data transmission and battery
level.
The light on the vibration device will lash in red when
the battery is low, and the light will lash in green when
the battery power is ull.
The switch within the vibrating device can adjust to
alarm 1 or alarm 2, or both. Simply select the alarm time
when you want the device to wake you up.
ANIMATION ON / OFF SETTIN
To set the animation on:
1. Press and hold the PROJECTION ON button or
2 seconds.
2. Select the animation speed by using the UP and
DOWN buttons.
3. Press the PROJECTION ON button
4. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to select "on" or
"o ."
5. Press the PROJECTION ON button to con irm.
The animation eature will move the image o
the time, alarm on/o status and alarm time in a
cascading and random motion, which is pleasant to the
eye.

NOTE
The vibrating device is powered by two "AA"
1.5V alkaline batteries (included). It is also compatible
with rechargeable batteries (not included).
THE BACKLI HT
The user can press the SNOOZE / LI HT button at the
base o the unit to enable the backlight unction and the
backlight will be turned on and last or 5 seconds.
THE RESET HOLE
I the clock behaves strangely or stops responding, insert
and press a blunt stylus into the clock's Reset Hole. (This
is located on the back o the clock. Simply insert a blunt
stylus to reset the unit's settings).
DEFAULT SETTIN S
All segments o the LCD will be turned on or 3 seconds
and a beep sound will be given out. Then it will start RF
reception.
• The Clock Setting are: PM12:00, 1st January,
2004, RF enabled, English.
• The Clock and alarm displays in 24 / 12 hour
mode depending on the selection o radio signal
(EU / UK).
• Both the bell alarm and the vibration alarm o
Alarm 1 and Alarm 2 are disabled.
NOTE • The battery status is displayed.
• The projector is disabled.
The clock will then be reset to its original actory
setting as seen above.

Problem: Radio antenna is not displayed on the
LCD screen.
Symptom: The RF signal cannot be received.
Check this: Obstacles (either electromagnetic
inter erence or objects) are barring the
signal rom reaching the main unit.
Remedy: Move the unit away rom any sources o
inter erence, including other electronic
devices.
Problem: Low-battery signal is not displayed on the
LCD screen.
Symptom: Batteries o the unit are low.
Check this: Check LCD display o the unit.
Remedy: Install new batteries into the unit.
Problem: Clock time is not correctly set.
Symptom: No radio signal reception.
Check this: Electromagnetic inter erence or objects are
barring reception. Orientation or placement
o main unit is not optimum or receiving
the RF signal.
Remedy: Place the main unit ar away rom PCs,
phones, and other electronic equipment.
Problem: No alarm.
Symptom: Alarm does not sound.
Check this: Alarm is disabled.
Remedy: Turn on the alarm setting.
Problem: Operation is not normal.
Symptom: Certain unctions do not per orm.
Check this: Device requires reset.
Remedy: Reset the unit with a blunt stylus pressed
against the Reset Hole.
