INTRODUCTION
Thank yo for selecting the Oregon ScientificTM 3.0 Mega-Pixel Slim
Card-Sized Digital Camera as yo r personal prod ct of choice. It
feat res 2x digital zoom and comes with 16MB of internal memory,
and is compatible with Sec re Digital (SD) memory cards. Yo r
camera is designed to give yo many years of reliable service.

provide important safety information and sho ld be observed at all times.

GENERAL WARNINGS
• Do not immerse the device in water or s bject the camera to impact or shock.
• Do not, nder any circ mstances, to ch the exposed electronic
circ itry of the device, as there is a danger of electric shock.
• Take special care when handling a damaged LCD display, as the
liq id crystals can be harmf l to yo r health.
• Do not se or store the device in locations that may adversely
affect the prod ct s ch as rain, snow, desert, and magnetic fields.
• Check all major f nctions when the device is n sed for a long
period of time. This is to ens re its f ll operation. Maintain reg lar
testing and cleaning of yo r device.
• Do not look thro gh the viewfinder at the s n or other strong lights.
This co ld damage yo r eyesight.
• Avoid leaving the camera exposed to direct s nlight, as the action
of the lens co ld ca se fires.
• Remove the batteries and memory card before storing the camera
for long periods of time. Then, keep it in a well-ventilated place in
order to prevent molding.
CLEANING THE DIGITAL CAMERA
Use a damp cloth to clean yo r camera body; dry immediately. To
clean yo r camera lens / viewfinder:
1. Use a blower or a lens br sh to remove dirt or d st.
2. Wipe caref lly with a soft cloth to remove fingerprints and other
stains. Do not to ch with fingers.
NOTE: Do not se benzene, thinner, or similar cleaning agents to
clean yo r camera, as these may ca se permanent damage not cov-
ered by the warranty.
NOTE: Do not scratch hard objects against the lens, LCD or viewfinder
as these s rfaces are easily damaged.

GETTING STARTED
PACKAGE CONTENTS
When yo npack yo r digital camera, make s re to keep all the packing
materials in a safe place, in case yo need to later ret rn it for servicing.
In the box, yo will find:
• Digital Camera (DS6688)
• Video Cable and USB Cable
• Two Batteries (AAA x 2)
• Hand Strap
• Software CD-ROM and User Man al
INSTALLING THE BATTERIES
To prevent damage, correctly insert the
batteries as shown.
TIP: To maximize the performance of
yo r camera and for greater battery life,
it is highly recommended to se NiMH
rechargeable type batteries.
ATTACHING THE STRAP
1. Pass the thin loop of the strap thro gh the camera's strap ring.
2. Pass the other end of the strap thro gh the loop.
3. Tighten by p lling the loop.
MEMORY STORAGE
The SD is an external memory card that can be pl gged into yo r digital
camera for storing images and movies. Below is a list of compatible
SD cards that have been tested and verified for se with the DS6688:
SanDisk: 64MB, 128MB, 256MB
Panasonic: 32MB, 64MB, 128MB, 256MB
Toshiba: 32MB, 64MB, 128MB, 256MB
Operation is not g aranteed for other, nlisted memory cards. For more
details on the above cards, please contact the man fact rer directly.
The DS6688 also s pports the se of M lti-Media cards (MMCs).
The type of memory c rrently sed by the camera is indicated on the
On-Screen Display (OSD):
ICON MEMORY TYPE DESCRIPTION
Internal Files are stored in the camera's internal memory.
External Either a SD card or a MMC has been
installed. Files are stored on the card's memory.
NOTE: When the SD card or MMC is installed, all images and movies
taken are a tomatically stored on the card. Images and movies stored
in the internal memory can be viewed from the camera, TV or comp ter,
b t cannot be copied or transferred to the comp ter.
NOTE: The SD card or MMC will not insert f lly into the slot if it is
facing the wrong way. Be caref l not to apply nd e force to the card.
INSTALLING THE SD / MMC
1. T rn off the camera.
2. Slide the card into the memory slot
ntil it clicks into position.

BASIC PHOTOGRAPHY
PREPARING THE CAMERA
1. Slide the Mode Switch to Camera Mode.
2. Press and hold the Power b tton to t rn the camera on.
3. Slide the Foc s Switch to the desired setting.
4. Check the battery indicator to make s re there is eno gh power.

TAKING BASIC PICTURES
1. Frame yo r s bject in the viewfinder. Yo can also view the s bject
on the OSD.
2. Press the Sh tter Release b tton.
3. The image taken is displayed on the OSD for approximately a second
(A to Review).
4. Once the A to Review has finished, yo may proceed to take the
next pict re.
NOTE: When memory is f ll, no more images can be stored. The
camera will beep and the words "Internal Memory F ll" or "Memory
Card F ll" will appear on the LCD.
BASIC FUNCTIONS AND SETTINGS
TOGGLING BETWEEN ON-SCREEN DISPLAY SETTINGS
When yo slide the Mode Switch to any mode, the OSD is a tomatically
switched on.
Use to toggle between 3 levels of display settings:
A. OSD with all shooting information displayed.
B. OSD with only key information displayed.
C. OSD is t rned off.
SELECTING A FOCUS MODE
Yo r digital camera has three different Foc s Modes. Yo can select
between the three options by sing the Foc s Switch.
ICON FOCUS MODE DESCRIPTION
Landscape Used when the s bject is far away. The
foc s range is 2.8 meters to ∞.
Gro p Used when taking pict res of a gro p of
s bjects. The foc s range is 1.2-3 meters.
Portrait Used when taking portraits. The foc s range
is 1 - 1.3 meters.

SELECTING A FLASH MODE
To toggle between Flash Modes, press the Flash / Delete b tton on
the camera and observe the Flash Icon on the OSD. When a pict re
with flash has been taken, the Stat s Lamp will blink while the flash is
recharging. Once it stops blinking, yo can res me taking pict res again.
NOTE: When taking pict res with flash on, the camera's battery life
will be shorter so yo will need to keep an eye on the battery stat s.
ICON FUNCTION DESCRIPTION
A to The flash may go off a tomatically, depending
on light conditions.
Flash On The flash goes off regardless of lighting
condition.
Flash Off The flash will not go off (defa lt setting)
ZOOMING
Yo r digital camera comes with a 2x zooming f nction (this is described
as x2 in the camera). By defa lt, the zooming is not enabled.
1. In Camera or Movie Mode, increase zooming by pressing The
Digital Zoom Icon on the OSD, , indicates the c rrent zoom level.
2. To decrease the zooming, press .

NOTE: In Movie Mode, once the sh tter b tton is pressed and recording
starts, zooming cannot be f rther adj sted for the d ration of the recording.
USING THE SELF-TIMER
The Self-Timer f nction co nts down before the camera a tomatically
takes a pict re by itself. This is sef l when yo want to be in the
pict re, and there is no one else to press the Shutter Release b tton.
1. Slide the Mode Switch to Camera Mode.
2. Press the b tton. The Self-Timer will engage. The front Self-
Timer lamp lights p.
3. Press the Shutter Release b tton. A dible beeps can be heard, and
the front Self-Timer lamp will start blinking. The n mber displayed
next to the OSD's Self-Timer icon will appear and start co nting down.
4. To hasten the co ntdown to 3 seconds, press the Shutter Release
b tton once again.
5. To pa se / npa se the Self-Timer, press the Shutter Release
b tton once more after the 3-second co ntdown.
DISPLAYING LAST IMAGE TAKEN
Yo can display the last image taken by pressing . When viewing
the last image, yo may choose to delete it by pressing and confirm.
Press again to ret rn to shooting.
CAMERA MODES
Press MENU to access the men screens, where settings can be
specified. To switch between Primary and Secondary Men s,
highlight the top men fields.

Example of a menu screen:
Under the Set p Men , which is available in all modes, the basic settings
of the camera can be adj sted. These are: P. Co nter, Set Clock, Set
City, Show Time, Lang age, Beep Tone, A to Off, TV O t, File N mber,
Format, Reset, LCD Brightness, and System Information.
P. COUNTER (PICTURE COUNTER)
The Pict re Co nter can co nt the n mber of images already taken
(co nt p) or available to be saved onto memory (co nt down).
SET CLOCK
This sets the Date and Home Time of the
camera. When accessed, a new Set
Clock config ration screen will appear.

A. C rrent Date Field - adj st the c rrent date of the camera.
B. Date Format - choose from the following date formats:
• DD/MM/YY (date, month, year)
• MM/DD/YY (month, date, year)
• YY/MM/DD (year, month, date)
C. C rrent Time Field - adj st the c rrent time of the camera.
D. Time Format - choose between 12-hr (AM/PM) or 24-hr display.
SET CITY
Yo can choose to display the c rrent time in two
different time zones. Config re the time zone of
yo r Home and World City from a list of city names.
NOTE: The World Time cannot be directly set. It
a tomatically adj sts itself via the time zone offset,
sing the Home Time val es specified in the Set
Clock setting. If yo r city is not selectable, choose
another city within yo r time zone instead.
SHOW TIME
Yo can choose to display either the Home Time (defa lt setting)
or World Time on yo r camera.
NOTE: icon is shown on the OSD if World Time is selected.
However, no Icon is displayed if Home time is selected.
LANGUAGE
Choose yo r men lang age: English (defa lt setting), French,
German, Spanish, Italian, and Port g ese.
BEEP TONE
The camera will make "beeping" so nds d ring certain f nctions. This
"beeping" so nd can be t rned on (defa lt setting) or off.

AUTO OFF (AUTO POWER-OFF)
Yo can set the camera to t rn off a tomatically when no operation is
performed. The period of time before sh t-down can be adj sted
(1 min., 3 min., or 5 min.) The defa lt a to off time setting is 3 min.
NOTE: A to Off is not available in slideshow mode or when the
camera is connected to a PC.
TV OUT
If connecting the camera to a TV, yo can set the camera's TV o tp t
system to either the PAL or NTSC standards. The defa lt TV O t
setting is set to PAL.
FILE NUMBER
Yo r camera keeps an internal file co nter for every image and movie
taken that can be reset. The setting options are Contin e (defa lt
setting) and New.
NOTE: All files are stored within a designated folder. The initial folder
is always n mbered at 100.
A. Under the Contin e defa lt option, the internal file co nter is first
set to "0001". Every s bseq ent pict re is assigned an incremental
File N mber.
NOTE: The internal file co nter increments by 1 regardless of the
media nless it is reset.
B. Under the New option, the internal file co nter to "0001" for new
media only. B t in case there are image files already present inside
the storage media, it will start co nting from the highest file n mber of
the media.
NOTE: The File N mber setting sho ld be set to New only if either the
internal memory or SD card has been newly formatted, or a completely
new SD card has been installed.
FORMAT
This option will format all data in either the internal memory or the
external SD card / MMC, incl ding all protected files.
CAUTION: Do not eject the SD card / MMC while the card is being
formatted, as this may damage the card. Formatting deletes all data
from the memory device chosen. Files will not be recoverable.
RESET
Yo can reset all camera settings to factory defa lt. Refer to the Set p
Men table to see the defa lts for each setting.
NOTE: The reset f nction can reset all the settings to factory defa lt
except for the c rrent time and date.
LCD BRIGHT (LCD BRIGHTNESS)
Yo can adj st the LCD brightness level to
compensate for different lighting conditions, for
example.
• If there is plenty of ambient light s ch as in
bright s nshine, yo can adj st the brightness
levels higher to make the display easier to see.
• If ambient light levels are relatively low s ch as
indoors or at night, yo can adj st the brightness
levels lower to make the display easier to see.
TIP: To maximize battery life, keep brightness settings low.
SYSTEM INFORMATION
This option allows yo to check the camera model n mber and c r-
rent version of firmware installed.
