2.2. Connecting Devices
2.2.1. OR-7204ED - 4 Channel DVR
The rear panel of the 4 channel DVR compri e the following:
• Front USB: Two USB port are provided to connect external device like HDD, Fla h memory for Backup, Sy tem upgrade or USB
mou e on the front panel.
Video Input
Connect the coaxial cable from the camera to the BNC video connector .
Audio Input
The DVR can record audio up to 4 ource . Connect the audio ource to the Audio-In RCA connector . All channel
need external pre-amplifier .
It i the u er' re pon ibility to determine if local law and regulation permit recording audio.
Audio Out
The DVR doe not have amplified audio output, o you will need a peaker with and amplifier.

Video Output
Connect the monitor to VGA and CVBS out connector. Dual Di play allow u er to u e both VGA and CVBS output ame time with
different di play option . Two different and individual di play mode can be et on each monitor output. Al o Live Monitoring on one
monitor and Playback on another Monitor can be di played and controlled at the ame time. Thi function will provide uch high
flexibility and efficiency for monitoring option for u er .
Note
: VGA Monitor i et a a main monitor when y tem boot up. To move to another monitor (CVBS) and control it, plea e u e one
of following control option .
1. Pre and Hold Di play button for 3 econd .
2. Click 2 mou e button at the ame time.
3. Choo e “Move Di play Focu ” on the contextual menu on GUI.

RS485 ALARM SENSOR
The RS485 connector can be u ed to control PTZ camera . The DVR can al o be controlled remotely
by a control keyboard.
2 alarm output connector are provided to connect external alarm uch a iren or light . Alarm
output connector are Open-collector output ignal .
3 en or input and 1 emergency en or input connector are provided to connect external device .
You can u e en or to ignal the DVR with event. The emergency en or i de igned for Emergency
recording only. It will follow Emergency recording etting when it i triggered.
An RS-232C connector i provided to connect an ATM or POS machine for Text-In function.
To make connection on the terminal block, pre and hold the button and in ert the wire in the hole below the button.

• Network: Connect a Cat5 cable with an RJ-45 connector to the DVR connector for remote monitoring, remote playback, remote
etup. See
Chapter 3-2. DVR Configuration
for configuring the Network connection .
• Reset: The DVR ha a Re et witch that will only be u ed to return all the etting to the original factory etting . To re et the unit,
turn the DVR off fir t. Turn it on again while poking the traightened paperclip in the re et hole. Hold the witch until the DVR i
initializing.
• Power Connector: Connect adapter cable to the power connector on the rear panel. (DC12V, 3.33A) Input AC power to the adapter.

Audio Input
The DVR can record audio up to 8 ource . Connect the audio ource to the Audio-In Multi-connector . All
channel need external pre-amplifier .

Video Output
Connect the monitor to VGA and CVBS out connector. Dual Di play allow u er to u e both VGA and CVBS output ame time with
different di play option . Two different and individual di play mode can be et on each monitor output. Al o Live Monitoring on one
monitor and Playback on another Monitor can be di played and controlled at the ame time. Thi function will provide uch high
flexibility and efficiency for monitoring option for u er .
Note
: VGA Monitor i et a a main monitor when y tem boot up. To move to another monitor (CVBS) and control it, plea e u e one
of following control option .
1. Pre and Hold Di play button for 3 econd .
2. Click 2 mou e button at the ame time.
3. Choo e “Move Di play Focu ” on the contextual menu on GUI.
RS485 ALARM SENSOR
The RS485 connector can be u ed to control PTZ camera . The DVR can al o be controlled remotely
by a control keyboard.
2 alarm output connector are provided to connect external alarm uch a iren or light . Alarm
output connector are Open-collector output ignal .
3 en or input and 1 emergency en or input connector are provided to connect external device .
You can u e en or to ignal the DVR with event. The emergency en or i de igned for Emergency
recording only. It will follow Emergency recording etting when it i triggered.
An RS-232C connector i provided to connect an ATM or POS machine for Text-In function.
To make connection on the terminal block, pre and hold the button and in ert the wire in the hole below the button.

• Network: Connect a Cat5 cable with an RJ-45 connector to the DVR connector for remote monitoring, remote playback, remote
etup. See
Chapter 3-2. DVR Configuration
for configuring the Network connection .
• Reset: The DVR ha a Re et witch that will only be u ed to return all the etting to the original factory etting . To re et the unit,
turn the DVR off fir t. Turn it on again while poking the traightened paperclip in the re et hole. Hold the witch until the DVR i
initializing.
• Power Connector: Connect adapter cable to the power connector on the rear panel. (DC12V, 3.33A) Input AC power to the adapter.

3. Using DVR
3.1. Basic Operation
3.1.1. Front Panel & IR Remote Controller
The DVR hould be correctly in talled before proceeding. The location, hape of the button and function key available may vary
depending on the DVR model. Only ome of main button mo t commonly u ed can be found on the front panel.

3.1.2. Turning on the System
Connecting the power cord will turn on the power of DVR. It will take approximately 10 to 30 econd for the y tem to be initialized.
Once the y tem i initialized, it will di play live creen, and begin to record video automatically.
Note
: To turn off the y tem, elect SHUTDOWN under main menu (MENU > SHUTDOWN) and
unplug the power cord when the hutdown me age appear .
Note
: When in talling the HDD for the fir t time, the HDD hould be formatted fir t.
“MENU > RECORD > Storage > HDD format”
3.1.3. Menu Bar
The menu bar will appear on the bottom of the creen a hown below.
Pre ing the Menu will bring up the main menu li t.

3.1.5. User or Admin Login
Pre MENU to enter main menu creen. Login in creen appear to enter ID and Pa word. Pa word can be et up to 8 number by
the combination of number from 0 to 9. Click number on the bottom to enter pa word when u ing a mou e. Click “…” button to pop
up virtual keyboard when u ing the front button or remote controller to enter pa word.
The factory default pa word i ‘none’ o pre OK to log in to the y tem for a fir t time log in. Pa word can be et under pa word
et up option (MENU > SYSTEM > U er). Sy tem will be automatically log out if it i not in-u e for ometime. Thi "Auto Logout Time"
can be et under pa word et up option (MENU > SYSTEM > U er).
