When using your toaster, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including
the following:
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING YOUR TOASTER.
• DO NOT touch hot surfaces. Metal parts can become hot. Use handles or knobs.
• Unplugtoasterfromoutletwhennotinuseandbeforecleaning.

inside the toaster create unsanitary conditions and the possibility of fire or toaster
malfunction. Clean out accumulated crumbs frequently to avoid risk of fire or toaster
malfunction.
• DO NOT operate the toaster without the crumb tray being replaced in its correct position.
• DO NOT operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance has
malfunctioned or has been damaged in any manner. Return the toaster to the nearest

Thisappliancehasapolarizedplug(onebladeiswiderthantheother).Toreducethe

POWER CORD INSTRUCTIONS
Please follow the instructions below to ensure the safe use of the power cord.
• Thistoasterhasapowercordareathatallowsyoutoadjustthelengthofthecord 
 sothatitistheappropriatelengthforyoursituation.Trytopositionthetoasternear 
 thepowersourcetoreducethehazardsassociatedwithpowercords(suchas
 becomingentangledortrippingoveralongpowercord).
• Donotpull,twistorotherwiseabusethepowercord.
• Donotwrapthepowercordaroundthemainbodyofthetoasterduringorafteruse.
Short Power Supply Cord Instructions
A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entan-
gledinortrippingoveralongercord.Anextensioncordmaybeusedifcareisexercised
initsuse.Ifanextensioncordisused,theelectricalratingofthecordmustbeatleastas
greatastheelectricalratingoftheappliance.Theextensioncordshouldbearrangedso
that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children
or tripped over unintentionally.

LEARNING ABOUT YOUR TOASTER
1.Lighter/ Darker Dial–Turntheknobtoselecthowdarkyouwouldlikeyour 
food toasted; 1 is lightest, 7 is darkest.
2.Frozen Button with Indicator Light –Pressthisbuttonifyourfoodisfrozen.The 
 toasterwillautomaticallydefrostyourfoodandthentoastitinoneeasystep.The
indicator will light to confirm your selection. Press toast lever down then select button to
begin the cycle.
3.Extra Long and Wide Bread Slots –Wideslots3.3cm(1.3inches)allowyoutotoast
a wide variety of breads and pastries.
4.Dual, Auto-Adjusting, Bread Guides – Automatically adjust to bread thickness.
5.Cancel Button – Press to pop the food out of the bread slots and stop the toasting
process.
6.Bread Carriage Lever – Press to begin toasting your food.
7.Toast Lift ( )–Press up on the bread carriage lever to lift food out of the bread
slots. Convenient and safe way of retrieving the smallest toasted items.
8.Removable, Easy-Wipe Crumb Tray – For convenient and easy cleanup.
9.Cord Storage – Allowsyoutostoreanyextracordunderthetoasterandoutoftheway.

PREPARING TO USE YOUR TOASTER
FOR THE FIRST TIME
If you are using your toaster for the first time, please be sure to:
1.Remove any stickers from the surface of the toaster and wipe the outside of your
toaster with a damp cloth.
2.Inserttheremovablecrumbtrayintothecrumbtrayslot.
3.Make certain that the bread carriage lever is in the uppermost position before
plugging in the toaster’s power cord.
4.Selectalocationforthetoaster.Thelocationshouldbe:
  •Aflat,heat-resistant,non-flammablesurface.
  •Atleast8cm(3inches)awayfromwallsorthebackofcountertops.
  •Atleast30cm(1foot)awayfromunderthecabinet.
  •Awayfromflammablematerials,suchascurtainsandwallfabric.
  •Awayfromagasstoveflameorelectricelement.
5.Plug the power cord into the appropriate electrical outlet.
Adjusting the power cord length:
 Yourtoaster’scordstorageareaallowsyoutoadjustthelengthofthepowercordso 
 thatitistheexactlengthyoudesire.
To adjust the length of the power cord:
Wrap the power cord around the cord storage posts on the base of the toaster until the
 cordisthelengthyoudesire.Becertaintoread“PowerCordInstructions”sectionfor 
safety information.
6.Without inserting any food into the bread slots, push the bread lever all the way down
 untilitlocks.(Thecarriagewillnotlockifthetoasterisnotpluggedintoa
 powersource.)
 Thefirsttoastingprocesswillpreheatthenewelementsandburnoffanydust 
whichmayhaveaccumulatedduringstorageormanufacturing.Itisnormalfor 
 thisburnofftocreateanodor.YourOSTER®Toasterisnowreadyforuse.

USING YOUR TOASTER
Inserting the food into the bread slots and toasting:
Now you are ready to insert your food into the bread slots. Keep the following tips in mind
when inserting your food.
• Mosttypesofbreadsandpastriescanbetoasted,suchasthicklyslicedbreads, 
 waffles,etc.Slicesshouldnot,however,besothickastojamthebreadslots. 
Remember, the toast setting is the default setting.
• Whentoastingtwoslicesatatime,theslicesshouldbeofequalsizeandfreshnessto
ensure even toasting.
• Whentoastingtwoslicesofbread,placeonesliceinthecenterofeachbreadslot.
• Whentoastingonesliceofbread,placethesliceinthecenterofeitherbreadslot.
After you insert the food into the bread slots:
1.Pressthebreadcarriageleverdownuntilitlocks.Theauto-adjustingbreadguideswill
automatically center the food for even browning.
After the desired level of darkness has been reached, the food will pop up
automatically and the bread carriage lever will return to its original position.
NOTE: TheBreadCarriageHandlewillnotstaydownunlesstheToasterispluggedin.
2.Carefully remove the toasted food from the bread slots.
WARNING: Toastedfoodcanbeveryhot,especiallypastryfillings.Handlewithcare.
Tip:Toremovefoodjammedinthebreadslots,unplugthetoasterandremovethe 
food once the toaster has cooled down.
WARNING: Never insert your fingers or metallic utensils into the bread slots.
USING THE SEVEN TOAST SHADE DIAL
Youcanadjusthowlightordarkthetoastertoastsyourfood.Yourselectionshouldvary
based on the moisture content, thickness of bread and your darkness preference.
To select the darkness setting:
TurntheLighter/Darkerdialtothesettingyoudesire.

USING THE FROZEN FOOD FEATURE
Yourtoastercandefrostyourfrozenfoodandthentoastit.Nowyoucantakeafrozen
sliceofbreadorpastryoutofthefreezeranddefrostandtoastit–allinyourtoaster,all
in one easy step.
To defrost and toast your food:
1.Press the bread carriage lever down to begin the cycle.
2.PresstheFrozenbuttonifthefoodisfrozen.Toastisthedefaultsetting.TheFrozen 
indicator will light up.
USING THE CANCEL FUNCTION
To cancel the toast process:
PresstheCancelbutton.Thetoasterwillstoptoastingimmediatelyandthefoodwillpop
up automatically.
HELPFUL TIPS
1.Donotusetornor“curledup”slicesofbread.Thesemaybecomelodgedandjamthe
eject mechanism.
2.Whentoastingmorethanonesliceofbread,useslicesofsimilarsize,thicknessand 
freshness.
3.Breadwhichhasbeentoastedbutnotbutteredmaybereheated.Usealightersetting
and watch it carefully.
4.Stalebread,thinbreadorsweetbreadproductssuchasfruitloaf,brown much more
quickly than ordinary bread, so they should be toasted on the lighter settings.
CLEANING YOUR TOASTER
After use and before cleaning, unplug the toaster power cord from the power outlet and
wait for the toaster to cool.
1.Wipe the outside of the toaster with a damp cloth and then dry it with another cloth or
paper towel. Do not use abrasive cleaners or steel wool; they will damage the toaster’s
finish.
WARNING: Do not use any pointed or sharp articles for cleaning the inside of the
toaster; this may damage the toaster.
2.Lightly tap the sides of the toaster to dislodge any crumbs caught in the toast chamber.
Remove the crumb tray and empty it. Wipe the tray clean with a damp cloth or place it in
 thetoprackofyourdishwasherforcleaning.Becertaintoputthecrumbtraybackinto 
the toaster before using the toaster again.
WARNING: Empty the crumb tray frequently. Crumbs will accumulate in the crumb tray
and could catch fire if not emptied periodically.

PRÉPARATIFS POUR LA TOUTE
PREMIÈRE UTILISATION
Si vous utilisez le Grille-pain pour la toute première fois assurez vous que:
1.Touslesautocollantsontétéenlevésdelasurfacedugrille-painetquelesparois 
 extérieuresdel’appareilontéténettoyéesavecunchiffonhumide;
2.Letiroirramasse-miettesamovibleaétécorrectementreplacédanssonlogement;
3.La manette est bien dans sa position la plus haute avant de brancherl’appareil ;
4.L’emplacementchoisipourl’appareilestconvenable.L’emplacementdoitêtre:
 •unesurfaceplat,résistanteàlachaleuretininflammable,
 •écartéd’aumoins8cm(3po)desmursoudel’arrièred’unplandetravail,
 •écartéd’aumoins30cm(1pied)dudessousdesarmoiressuspendus,
 •loindesmatièresinflammables,tellesquerideaux,tapisserie,etc.,
 •loind’uneflamme(cuisinièreàgaz)oud’unélémentélectrique.
5.Branchezlecordonsuruneprisedecourantalternatif.
Modification de la longueur du cordon:
 Votregrille-painétantpourvud’unrange-cordon,vouspouvezajusterlecordonàla 
 longueurexacterequise.
Pour modifier la longueur du cordon :
 Enroulezlecordonautourdesergotsprévusàceteffetsouslesocledel’appareil, 
 jusqu’àcequelalongueurconvienne.Consultezlesrenseignementsdesécurité 
 fournissous«InstructionsSpécialesQuantauCordon».
6.Sansmettrequoiquecesoitdanslesfentes,abaissezlamanetteduchariotjusqu’àce
 qu’ellesebloque.(EllenesebloqueraitquesileGrille-painestbranché).
 Cetoutpremiergrillageàvideréchauffelesélémentsetbrûlelapoussièreayantpu 
 s’accumuleraucoursdel’entreposage.L’odeurquisedégageesttoutàfaitnormale.

UTILISATION DU GRILLE-PAIN
Insérer l’aliment dans l’ouverture et le faire griller:
Vouspouvezmaintenantintroduirevotrepaindanslesfentes.Rappelez-vousdescon-
seils suivants pour griller votre pain.
• Laplupartdespainsetdegâteauxpeuventêtregrillés,telslespetitspains,lesbiscuits
 àthé,lespainscoupésentranchesépaisses,lesmuffinsanglais,lesgaufres,etc.Les
 tranchesnedoivent,cependant,pasêtretropépaissesafindenepasboucherles 
 fentes.Souvenez-vousquelapositiongrillageestlapositionpardéfaut.
• Pourgrillerdeuxtranchesenmêmetemps,lestranchesdoiventêtredetailleetde 
 fraîcheurégalepourassurerungrillageuniforme.
• Pourgrillerdeuxtranchesdepain,placezunetrancheaucentredechaquefente.
• Pourgrillerunetranchedepain,placezlatrancheaucentredel’uneoul’autredes 
fentes.
Aprèsavoirintroduitvotrepaindanslesouvertures:
1.Abaissezlamanettejusqu’àcequ’ellesebloque.
 Lesguide-painautoréglablesvontautomatiquementcentrerlestranchespourun 
grillage uniforme.
 Aprèsqueledegrédegrillagedésiréaitétéatteint,lestranchessontéjectées 
automatiquement et la manette retrouve sa position initiale.
REMARQUE: La manette ne restera pas en position basse si l’appareil n’est pas
 branché.
2.Enlevezavecprécautionlestranchesdesouvertures.
AVERTISSEMENT:Lesalimentsgrilléssonttrèschauds,notammentlesgarnitures 
 despâtisseries.Veuillezàmanipulerlanourritureavecprécaution.
Conseil: Pourretirerdestranchescoincéesdanslesfentes,débranchezlegrille-pain
 etn’enlevezlestranchesquequandl’appareilarefroidi.
AVERTISSEMENT:N’introduisezjamaisvosdoigtsouunobjetmétalliquedansles 
fentes.
UTILISATION DU SÉLECTEUR DE GRILLAGE CLAIR/
FONCÉ À SEPT RÉGLAGES
Vouspouvezréglerledegrédegrillagedevotrepain.Votresélectiondépendradudegré
d’humiditédupain,del’épaisseurdestranchesetdevospréférencesenmatièrede
grillage.
Pour déterminer le degré de grillage:
Tournezlesélecteurjusqu’àlapositiondésirée.

Votregrille-painpeutdécongelerlesalimentssurgeléspuislesgriller.
Vouspouvezdésormaissortirunpetitpainducongélateur,ledécongeleretlegriller
-danslemêmeappareil,enuneseuleetmêmeétape.
Pour décongeler et griller vos aliments:
1.Abaissezlelamanettepourdémarrerlecycle.
2.EnfoncezleboutonDécongélationsivotrepainestcongelé.LapositionGrillageestla
 positionpardéfaut.Levoyantlumineuxvas’allumer.
UTILISATION DE LA FONCTION ANNULER
Pour annuler le cycle de grillage:
EnfoncezleboutonAnnulation.
Legrille-paincesseraimmédiatementlegrillageetéjecteralestranchesautomatique-
ment.
CONSEILS PRATIQUES / UTILES
1.Nevousservezpasdetranchesdepainabîméesoutordues.Celles-cipourraientse 
 coinceretbloquerlemécanismed’éjection.
2.Sivousgrillezplusd’unetranche,utilisezdestranchesdemêmetaille,demême 
 épaisseuretdemêmefraîcheur.
3.Dupaingrillémaisnonbeurrépeutêtreréchauffé.Utilisezunréglageplusdouxet 
 surveillezattentivement.
4.Lepainrassis,lesviennoiseriescommelesbiscuitsàthéetlespainsauxfruits,
brunissent beaucoup plus vite que le pain ordinaire, il convient donc d’utiliser un
 réglageplusdoux.
ENTRETIEN DU GRILLE-PAIN
Aprèsutilisationouavantlenettoyage,assurez-vousdedébrancherlegrille-painetat-
tendezqu’ilrefroidisse.
1.Tapotezlégèrementsurlesparoisdugrille-painpourdélogerlesmiettes
 éventuellementcoincéesdanslachambredegrillage.Retirezletiroirramasse-miettes
 etvidez-le.Essuyezletiroiravecunchiffonhumideoumettez-ledanslepanier
 supérieurdevotrelave-vaisselle.Assurez-vousdereplacerleramasse-miettesdans 
 sonlogementavantd’utiliserlegrille-painànouveau.

CONOCIENDO SU TOSTADORA
1.Perilla para Tostar Más Claro/Más Oscuro–Girelaperillaparaseleccionarla
intensidad con que le gustaría tostar sus alimentos: el número 1 es para más claro, y
el número 7 es para más oscuro.
2.Botón para Descongelar con Luz Indicadora - Pulse este botón si sus alimentos
están congelados. La tostadora los descongelará automáticamente, para tostarlos
 despuésenunsolopaso.Elindicadorseencenderáparaconfirmarsuselección. 
 Llevehaciaabajolapalancadelatostadora;después,seleccioneelbotónparainiciar
 elciclo.Tostadaessuselecciónporomisión.
3.Ranuras Extra Anchas–Lasranurasanchas3,3cm(1,3pulgadas)lepermitentostar
pan casero y bollitos.

PREPARANDOSE PARA USAR SU TOSTADORA
POR PRIMERA VEZ
Si va a utilizar su tostadora por primera vez, asegúrese de lo siguiente:
1.Retirecualquiercalcomaníadelasuperficiedesutostadoraylímpielaconunpaño
húmedo.
2.InsertelaBandejaparaMigasRemovibleensuranura.
3.Asegúrese de que la PalancaparaSostenerelPanestéenlaposiciónelevadaantes
de enchufar el cable de la tostadora.
4.Seleccioneadondedeseaubicarsutostadora.Dichaubicacióndebeser:
 •Unasuperficieplana,resistentealcaloryanti-inflamable.
 •Aunadistanciamínimade8cm(3pulgadas)delaparedodelaparteposteriorde
los mostradores.
 •Comomínimoa30cm(1pie)dedistanciadecualquiergabineteoestanteque
puedan encontrarse encima de la tostadora.
 •Alejadadelosmaterialesinflamablescomocortinasotapizados.
 •Alejadadequemadoresdeestufasdegasoeléctricas.
5.Enchufe el cable en un tomacorriente.
Ajuste la longitud del cable:
 Laparteparaalmacenarelcabledesutostadoralepermiteajustarlalongitudexacta 
que desea.
Para ajustar la longitud del cable eléctrico:
Enrolle el cable alrededor de los postes de almacenamiento del cable en la base de la
 tostadorahastaqueéstecuenteconlalongituddeseada.Asegúresedehaber
 realizadolalecturadelasecciónreferentealas“InstruccionesparaelCableEléctrico”
para obtener información sobre seguridad.
6.Sininsertarningúnalimentoenlasranuras,empujelaPalancaparaSostenerelPan
 completamentehaciaabajohastaquequedesujetado(lasresistenciasnoquedarán
 sujetadassilatostadoranoestáenchufadaenuntomacorriente).
El primer proceso de tostado precalentará los nuevos elementos y quemará cualquier
polvo que se haya acumulado durante el almacenamiento o fabricación. Es
 perfectamentenormalquedichoquemadoproduzcaunolor.SuTostadoraOSTER® 
ya se encuentra lista para el uso.
