User Manual
Warning：AIS-SART is an emergency radiolocation signal transmitter.
It could only be operated in the case of life-threatening.
Warning：AIS-SART transmits a low-level RF signal，and after activation, it couldn't
be covered by anything within the antenna area.
Caution：False alarms are life-threatening and will cause damage to search and
rescue operations.
Abuse of AIS-SART may result in the penalty.
Caution：If the shield is damaged, AIS-SART couldn't comply with SOLAS
regulations and should be repaired or replaced.
Caution：Do not disassemble AIS-SART by yourself.
Caution：Lithium-ion battery inside the product, do not burn, pierce, make it deform
or charge it.
Caution：Dispose discarded AIS-SART in accordance with local waste disposal
regulations.
Caution：Do not use chemical solvents to clean the AIS-SART，which could easily
corrode its enclosure.

Use AIS-SART to fully deploy the mounting rod:
1、AIS-SART should be placed upright in the open field of vision,
do not block the GPS area;
2、AIS-SART must be manually erected when liferaft is deployed;
3、When deploying AIS-SART, the antenna reference point is set
at least one meter from sea level.
1, Appearance Overview and Installation
AIS SART is a "click" device, once been activated, will transmit an emergency alarm for at least
96 hours.

2, Activate the device

1、Hold down the "TEST" button for 2 seconds
to start the self-test program
2、Red light indicate that self-test is in progress
Red light indication
Self-test steps
Take out the AIS-SART from the installation package，and attach it to the top of
the mounting bar. The mounting bar does not have to be fully extended.Take
AIS-SART outside，high lift it under the sky in the field of vision ，could speed up the
GPS receiver speed.Specific steps as follows:
1. Press the test button until the red LED light up, the buzzer sounds 0.5 seconds；
2. The red LED will blink quickly, it indicate that the test procedure is in progress；
3. The longest test time is 5 minutes (usually 1 minute)；
4. When the test is successful, the red LED indicator will flash 3 times；
5.After the completion of the test, the buzzer will short ring 3 times, and automatically turn off
the machine.
If after step 3, the red LED light doesn’t long flash，it indicate the test failed，the
buzzer will short ring 6 times, automatically turn off the machine. But usually it will
not occur，it is recommended to change the position of AIS-SART and re-test again.
Validate self-test by marine AIS equipment
When AIS-SART self-test, it will send a series of spot transmission signals，
these signals can be received by nearby AIS device. TheAIS device will accept the
"SART TEST" message，the test message contains MMSI, latitude and longitude of

AIS-SART.
Important hint
Unnecessary self-test will reduce the use time in case of emergency of
AIS-SART，each test will consume a small amount of the battery energy. If AIS-SART
has been activated for more than 6 hours (self-test and operation)，in accordance
with international regulations, the battery must be replaced to ensure that it could be
used at -20 °C for 96 hours.
If the test fails, it should need immediate repair.
3, Activate the device
1. Pull down the protective cover, reveal the "ON" button
2. Press the "ON" button
3. The red LED will flash once every few seconds
Red LED indicate (AIS-SART on), as shown below:
Flash once every 3.5 seconds
Activate AIS-SART, the buzzer sounds for 0.5 seconds，the LED starts
blinking，flashes once every 3.5 seconds，the signal is transmitted for the first
time after 50 seconds. If error activation，we could turn off AIS-SART during this
time.
4. GPS positioning instructions: red lights short and long flash once per minute, it
indicates GPS positioning well.

If error activation or emergency situation end，press the test button for 2
seconds, turn off the device, while the red LED is off.
Important：After activation, replace the protective cover and battery. For details,
please refer to the Service section.
4, Battery
Check the battery if in the period of validity，the battery of AIS-SART should be
changed every 3 year,and the battery expiration date should be marked on the label
of battery pack. Battery must be replaced in time: 1, Battery life expires; 2, AIS-SART
is active for more than 6 hours.
