HALFMASK:
• Respirator is designed to use the S450 filter system. Gas & Dust filters using pre-filter pads & pre-filter cover are
available to order independently of the mask.
• The respirator is not for use in oxygen deficient (below 19% Volume), oxygen enriched (above 25% Volume).
• The mask will not protect the user in the event of flying debris and projections by an explosion.
• The respirator and filters are not designed for firefighting or work with open flame or molten metal when ignition of
filters may cause toxic fumes.
• Do not use for sandblasting or for protection against contaminates not covered by the filter labelling. Respirator does
not protect eyes or skin against contaminates that may irritate, burn or penetrate.
• Select appropriate filters for the hazard encountered. See packaging for colour coding and detail of the filters
available for the mask. Gas and P2 prefilter can be used to provide a combination filter.
• Before use, ensure all components are clean and in good condition.
• Change filters frequently. As a minimum, filter must be changed if breathing resistance increases or the smell of the
hazard sensed. Pre-Filter pads should be changed more frequently.
• The respirator should have correct filter for the hazard and fit comfortably on the face. NB Beards or similar facial hair
is likely to prevent an acceptable fit.
• The respirator should be stored in its bag, away from direct sunlight, contaminates and risk of physical damage.
FILTERS:
• Filters can be fitted to the S450 halfmask.
• Two filters of the same type should be used and changed at the same time.
CHANGING OF FILTERS:
• To apply the filters, align the arrow on the filter (image symbol A) to the arrow on the mask body (image B). Push the
filter on to the mask (image C) and turn the filter clockwise until you feel it lock into position (image D).

• To remove the filter simply twist it anti-clockwise until you feel filter become loose. The easiest and most efficient
way of replacing filters is with the mask removed from the face. If you need to remove and refix the filter to the mask,
please check the integrity of the foam seal before re-attaching the filter. if the seal appears damaged, OX recommend
that the complete filter is replaced. Application of filter may be easier if inner plastic shell is supported with users’
hand from inside the mask to prevent the part coming away from the rubber body. Dispose of used filter hygienically
& safely.
• NB Check your filter has a gasket attached to the base of its locking feature. If this is missing, please contact OX.
CHANGING THE PRE-FILTER PAD:
• The P2 pre-filter pad can be used to convert a gas filter into a combination gas and dust filter. It must not be used on
a P3 dust filter. To change the prefilter, remove the cover, dispose of the used pre-filter pad, hygienically and safely.
Insert a new pre-filter pad and re-fit the cover.
CHANGING FILTER CARTRIDGE:
• Remove pre-filter cover and unscrew filter cartridge. Remove from mask together with connector and dispose of
hygienically & safely.
• Clean respirator. Re-fit new filter. Ensure foam sealing ring is undamaged when fitting filter, if damaged, replace filter.

FIT CHECK FOR S450 FILTERS:
See diagram J.
To check efficiency, place a piece of card in front
of the filters, inhale, and respirator should contract
sharply.
This mask may not fit all face shapes, therefore it is
necessary to carry out a ‘Face Fit Test’ to ensure the
chosen mask is correct for the user.
CLEANING AND DISINFECTING:
• Respirator should be cleaned, checked for worn/damaged parts after each shift or each use (if not used
continuously).
• The Mask Body can be cleaned/ disinfected by using a cloth moistened with a weak detergent solution and allowed
to air dry.
• The seal surface should be wiped with a cloth moistened with soapy water and dried at room temperature.
• DO NOT immerse the product in water or use abrasive cleaners. If filter cartridge is to be re-used do not remove from
respirator, but clean with a cloth and warm soapy water. Dry with a clean cloth.
• Water MUST NOT enter the filter cartridge. Care should be taken not to damage inhalation/exhalation rubber valves.
Condition of the valves should be checked weekly and replaced if damaged/deteriorated.
• With correct maintenance the mask should give 2-3 years of service.
• DO NOT USE SOLVENTS, STRONG DETERGENTS, BLEACHES OR PETROLEUM BASED PRODUCTS TO CLEAN
ANY PART OF MASK.
STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION:
• When not in use or during transportation the respirator should be stored in the packaging in which it was supplied or
other suitable container.
• Store respirator as detailed by symbols on package, temperature between +2°C and +55°C and relative humidity less
than 75%.
• The respirator should be stored away from direct sunlight and away from sources of possible contamination and
physical damage.
WARNING:
• Immediately leave work area and change the respirator and/or filter if breathing becomes difficult, dizziness or other
distress occurs, respirator is damaged, or you sense irritation, smell or taste contaminates in the work area.
• As required by European Health and Safety requirements the user is advised that when in contact with the wearers
skin, susceptible individuals may experience an allergic reaction, if this is the case, the wearer should leave the
hazard area, remove the respirator and seek medical advice.
MASK FITTING INSTRUCTIONS:
To ensure a comfortable and secure fit of the mask onto the face please do the
following:
1. Remove rigid protective packaging from faceseal.
2. Check that elastic is not twisted and that the elastic is securely held into all
mounting positions (see image E), on both the valve-cage, rear clips and head
cradle.
3. Adjust rear clips approximately to fit. Adjust head cradle to fit size of users crown
area on top of head (see image F).
4. Place head cradle onto top of head, over crown area (see image G).
5. Position mask onto face and clip together rear clips behind neck (see image H).
6. Ensure mask is sat comfortably and securely on face.
7. If fit is not comfortable and secure adjust head cradle and rear clip elastic lengths
until fit is comfortable and secure (see image I).
8. Wearers chin should fit comfortably into bottom of the respirator.
