SetupintheField
1. AttachtheantennatotheADLVantage,eitherdirectlytothetopoftheradioortoanantennacable.If
youareusingaremoteantenna,screwtheantennaontotheantennaadaptercableandattachthe
adaptortoyourtripod.AttachtheotherendoftheantennacabletothetopoftheADLVantageandclip
theADLVantageontotheslotinonofyourtripod’slegs.
2. HangtheADLVantagefromyourtripodusingthetripodcliponthebackoftheradio.
3. ConnecttheADLVantagetothesourceofthedatayouwilltransmit,forexample,aGPSreceiver,using
thedata/powercable.TheADLVantageradiousesthesamedataconnector–withthesamepinouts‐
foundonthePDLHPBradio.ThismakesitcompatiblewithexistingHPBdatacables.
4. MakesuretheADLVantageisattachedtoitsantenna.
5. Jointhedata/powercable’sSAEconnectortotheADLVantagebattery’sSAEconnector.Thiswillturnthe
ADLVantageon.Iftheradiohadpreviouslybeenpoweredonandthenoff,turnitonagainbypressing
theOn/Offbuttoninthecenterofthefrontpanel.TheADLVantagealsousesthesamebatteryand
desktoppowersupplythatshippedwiththePDLLPB.
6. ThiswillturntheADLVantageon.Iftheradiohadpreviouslybeenpoweredonandthenoff,turniton
againbypressingtheOn/Offbuttoninthecenterofthefrontpanel.TheADLVantage’senhanceduser
interfaceallowsyoutoconfigureandtroubleshootyourADLVantageinthefield.ThetoprowoftheADL
VantageLCDdisplaysthenameofthecurrentlyselectedFWfunction.Presstherightorleftbuttonson
thefrontpaneltodisplayotherfunctionsavailableintheADLVantage.
7. Thebottomrowdisplaysthevariousoptionsfortheselectedfunction.Thecurrentlyactivesettingis
markedwithanasterisk.Toselectanotheroptionforthedisplayedfunction,presstheupordownbutton
todisplaythedesiredparameter.ThenpressEntertoreconfiguretheradiotousethisnewparameter.
