1. SafetyPrecaution
1.1. General guidelines
1. Whenservicing, observe theoriginal leaddress. Ifashortcircuitisfound, replace all
parts whichhave beenoverheatedor damagedbytheshortcircuit.
2. Afterservicing, see toitthat all theprotective devices suchas insulation barriers,
insulation papersshieldsareproperlyinstalled.
3. Afterservicing, make thefollowing leakagecurrentchecks topreventthecustomerfrom
being exposedtoshock hazards.
1.1.1. Leakagecurrentcoldcheck
1. Unplug theAC cord and connect ajumperbetweenthetwoprongson theplug.
2. Measuretheresistance value, withanohmmeter, betweenthejumperedAC plug and
eachexposedmetalliccabinet parton theequipmentsuchas screwheads, connectors,
control shafts, etc. Whentheexposedmetallicparthas areturn pathtothechassis, the
reading shouldbebetween1M and 5.2M .
Whentheexposedmetal does nothave areturn pathtothechassis, thereading must be

1. Plug theAC cord directlyintotheAC outlet. Donotuse anisolation transformerfor this
check.
2. Connect a1.5k , 10 watts resistor, inparallel witha0.15 Fcapacitors, betweeneach
exposedmetallicparton theset and agood earthground suchas awaterpipe, as shown
in Figure 1.
3. Use anAC voltmeter, with1000 ohms/voltor moresensitivity, tomeasurethepotential
across theresistor.
4. Check eachexposedmetallicpart, and measurethevoltageat eachpoint.
5. Reverse theAC plug intheAC outlet and repeat eachoftheabove measurements.
6. Thepotential at anypointshouldnotexceed0.75 volts RMS. Aleakagecurrenttester
(Simpson Model 229 or equivalent) may beusedtomake thehotchecks, leakagecurrent
must notexceed1/2milliampere. Incase ameasurementisoutsideofthelimits specified,
thereisapossibility ofashock hazard, and theequipmentshouldberepairedand
recheckedbeforeitisreturnedtothecustomer.
2. Warning
2.1. Prevention ofElectrostaticDischarge(ESD)to Electrostatic
Sensitive(ES) Devices
Somesemiconductor (solidstate) devices canbedamagedeasilybystaticelectricity. Such
components commonlyarecalledElectrostaticSensitive (ES)Devices. Examples oftypical
ES devices areintegratedcircuits and somefield-effect transistor-sand semiconductor
"chip"components. Thefollowing techniques shouldbeusedtohelpreduce theincidence
ofcomponentdamagecausedbyelectrostaticdischarge(ESD).

1. Immediatelybeforehandling anysemiconductor componentor semiconductor-equipped
assembly, drainoff anyESDon your bodybytouching aknownearthground.
Alternatively, obtainand wearacommerciallyavailabledischarging ESDwrist strap,
whichshouldberemovedfor potential shock reasonsprior toapplying powertotheunit
undertest.
2. Afterremoving anelectrical assemblyequippedwithES devices, place theassemblyon a
conductive surface suchas aluminumfoil, topreventelectrostaticchargebuildup or
exposureoftheassembly.
3. Use onlyagrounded-tipsoldering iron tosolderor unsolderES devices.
4. Use onlyananti-staticsolderremoval device. Somesolderremoval devices notclassified
as "anti-static(ESDprotected)"cangenerate electrical chargesufficienttodamageES
devices.
5. Donotuse freon-propelledchemicals. These cangenerate electrical charges sufficientto
damageES devices.
6. Donotremove areplacementES device fromits protective packageuntil immediately
beforeyou arereadytoinstall it. (Most replacementES devices arepackagedwithleads
electricallyshortedtogetherbyconductive foam, aluminumfoil or comparable
conductive material).
7. Immediatelybeforeremoving theprotective material fromtheleadsofareplacementES
device, touchtheprotective material tothechassisor circuitassemblyintowhichthe
device will beinstalled.
Caution
Besureno powerisappliedtothechassisor circuit, and observe all othersafety
precautions.
8. Minimizebodilymotionswhenhandling unpackagedreplacementES devices. (Otherwise
hamless motion suchas thebrushing togetherofyour clothes fabricor thelifting ofyour
footfromacarpetedfloor cangenerate staticelectricity sufficienttodamageanES
device).

2.3.1. General description aboutLeadFree Solder(PbF)
Theleadfree solderhas beenusedinthemounting process ofall electrical components on
theprintedcircuitboardsusedfor thisequipmentinconsidering thegloballyenvironmental
conservation.
Thenormal solderisthealloyoftin(Sn)and lead(Pb). Ontheotherhand, theleadfree
solderisthealloymainlyconsists oftin(Sn), silver(Ag)and Copper(Cu), and themelting
pointoftheleadfree solderishigherapprox.30 degrees C(86°F)morethanthat ofthe
normal solder.
Definition ofPCB LeadFree Solderbeing used
Theletterof“PbF”isprintedeitherfoil sideor componentssideon thePCB
using theleadfree solder.

Service caution for repairworkusing LeadFree Solder(PbF)
- Theleadfree solderhas tobeusedwhenrepairing theequipmentfor whichtheleadfree
solderisused.

- To putleadfree solder, itshouldbewell moltenand mixedwiththeoriginal leadfree
solder.
- Remove theremaining leadfree solderon thePCB cleanlyfor soldering ofthenewIC.
- Since themelting pointoftheleadfree solderishigherthanthat ofthenormal lead
solder, ittakes thelongertimetomelttheleadfree solder.
- Use thesoldering iron (morethan70W)equippedwiththetemperaturecontrol after
setting thetemperatureat 350±30 degrees C(662±86°F).

1) Registration Codedisplay function
Registration Codeisalphanumericcharactersequence 8bytes inputtedas recorder
information, incase ause purchases or rentaDivX DRMfileinanetwork.
Registration codeisacharactersequence generatedat random, and differsineachrecorder.
Moreover, Registration codeisupdatedbynewuserauthentication everifsamerecorder.
2) User'sregistration and approval function
- Onlyoneusercanregisterfor onerecorder. Ifuser'sregistration isnotdonewiththe
recorder, DivX filecannotbeplayedback.
- User'sregistration isperformedonlywhenaDivX DRMfileisfirst chosenbyrecorder
- DivX DRMfilethat canperformuser'sregistration isonlyafilethat isregistered
Registration Codeand purchasedor rented.
- Userauthentication isperformedwheneverDivX DRMfileisplayedback.
Error messageisdisplayedwhenfailing inuser'sregistration and approval.
3) Rental managementfunction
Therearepurchase filewithoutregistration ofnumberofplayback and rental files with

Whenrental fileisplayed, remaining numberoftimes that canbeplayedback will beshown
tousers, recorderrequests userstoinputyes or no.

countcondition ofnumberoftimes ofplayback.
- Conditionson counting numberoftimes ofplay.

-Evenifthepowerfailureoccursafterstartofplayback ofrental file, numberoftimes
ofplayback countedat startoftheplayback isheldas itis. (Though playback stops
bypowerfailure, thenumberoftimes ofplayback isnotcounted.)
Whenithas reachedheadoftitle, theplayback isended, and screenbecomes DivX menu
(Thereisno resume) and thencursor islocatedon titlethat has beenplayedback.
Thenifthesamefilewas continuouslyplayedback, itbeginstoplayback fromthefile
head.
