Installing Panasonic WV-CS854 on a DVX system
To use a Panasonic WV-CS854 camera with a DVX system , you must wire the camera to the RS-485 converter, and then
plug the converter into the COM port on the DVX system. The A pin must be connected to the orange T and yellow R wires
from the camera, and the COM B pin must be connected to the red T and green R wires from the camera:

The following figure illustrates the connection points between the DVX system and the camera. (Drawing not to scale; DVX
drawing may not match your particular DVX model.)

The figure on the previous page shows the SW1 switch used to select the protocol, communication parameter, and camera
address. You must set this switch three times, as described in the following instructions:
1. Select the protocol by setting SW1 as follows (factory default settings):

2. Insert the camera in its mount and wait for the camera to complete the startup sequence.
3. Remove the camera from its mount.
4. Select the communication parameters (9600bps, data bit 8, parity check N, stop bit 1) by setting SW1 as follows:

5. Insert the camera in its mount and wait for the camera to complete the startup sequence.
6. Remove the camera from its mount.
7. Select a unique camera address from 1 to 32 by setting SW1 as follows (note that 8 is ON in each case):

Panasonic WV-CS854: Camera Termination
The figure on page 2 shows the location of the SW2 switch, which is used to select the termination (switch 1) and duplex
setting (switches 2–4, half duplex). Complete the following instructions:
1. Remove the camera from its mount.
2. Set SW2 as follows if the camera is not the final camera in a chain:

Panasonic WV-CS854: Connecting Multiple Cameras
Additional cameras are connected to the DVX system in a daisy chain, star, or combination configuration; the final camera in
each chain must be terminated. Each camera must have a unique address that matches the video input number it is connected
to on the DVX system (see the DVX user manual). Sample configurations are shown in the following figure.

Enabling COM Ports (Upgrade Situtations Only)
When upgrading an existing DVX system to enable PTZ capability, you must enable the COM ports on the DVX system. To
verify that the COM ports are enabled on your system, view the PTZ tab on the Setup page in MasterControl on the DVX
system. If the COM ports are not enabled, the following message is displayed on the PTZ tab:
Unable to detect COM ports on your system. You must install a COM port
to use PTZ cameras.
If this message appears, you must enable the COM (serial) ports in the system BIOS. For assistance, please contact the
Technical Support Center at 1-720-872-9100.
NOTE: The PTZ tab is available in MasterControl only if you have entered a valid PTZ license key. See the front page of
this document for details.
