Limitations of Alarm Systems
It must be understood that while your Paradox alarm system is highly advanced and secure, it does not offer any guaranteed protection against burglary, fire or other emergency (fire and emergency options are only available on certain Paradox models). This is due to a number of reasons, including by not limited to inadequate or improper installation/positioning, sensor limitations, battery
performance, wireless signal interruption, inadequate maintenance or the potential for the system or telephone lines to be compromised or circumvented. As a result, Paradox does not represent that the alarm system will prevent personal injury or property damage, or in all cases provide adequate warning or protection.
Your security system should therefore be considered as one of many tools available to reduce risk and/or damage of burglary, fire or other emergencies, such other tools include but are not limited to insurance coverage, fire prevention and extinguish devices, and sprinkler systems.
We also strongly recommend that you regularly maintain your security systems and stay aware of new and improved Paradox products and developments.
Warning for Connections to Non-Traditional Telephony (eg. VoIP)
Paradox alarm equipment was designed to work effectively around traditional telephone systems. For those customers who are using a Paradox alarm panel connected to a non-traditional telephone system, such as "Voice Over Internet Protocol" (VoIP) that converts the voice signal from your telephone to a digital signal traveling over the Internet, you should be aware that your alarm system
may not function as effectively as with traditional telephone systems.
For example, if your VoIP equipment has no battery back-up, during a power failure your system's ability to transmit signals to the central station may be compromised. Or, if your VoIP connection becomes disabled, your telephone line monitoring feature may also be compromised. Other concerns would include, without limitation, Internet connection failures which may be more frequent
than regular telephone line outages.
We therefore stronglyrecommend that you discuss these and other limitations involved with operating an alarm system on a VoIP or other non-traditional telephone system with your installation company. They should be able to offer or recommend measures to reduce the risks involved and give you a better understanding.
Account Information Screen
System Information Screen
The System Information screen contains important hardware
and software information on both your security system and
your IP100 module.
Logout
For security reasons, it is important to
logout when you have finished
monitoring your system.
As an added security feature, your P100
interface automatically logs out after it
has been inactive for 5 minutes.
Change Password
It is highly suggested that you
change your password from the
default “paradox”.
The Account Information screen allows you to
store the following information for quick reference:
Account Information
Alarm system installer information
Monitoring station information
Module Configuration Screen
Email Configuration Screen
The IP100 module should only be
configured by the installer or a
qualified network administrator. For
more information on module
configuration, consult the IP100
Reference and Installation Manual.
DHCP
If the IP100 is connected to a server using a static
address, the DHCP protocol is not necessary.
Click “No” and configure the IP100 manually.
ParadoxMyHome.com
When this is enabled, the Paradox
DNS service will contact your IP100
module to confirm its current IP
address.
With the polling time set to the
default (5 minutes), if the
IP100’s IP address changes,
communication will be lost for up
to 5 minutes until the DNS
server polls the IP100.
Decreasing the polling time will
result in increased
communication between the
IP100 and the Paradox DNS
server.
It is not necessary to be logged in to be kept informed of changes in your system’s status. By
selecting Email Configuration from the Main Menu, you can configure the IP100 to send email
notifications to up to 16 email addresses. SMTP Server
SMTP Server information is usually provided
by the Internet Service Provider
A user name and password may be required in
order for the IP100 to access the email server.
This information can now be entered into the
IP100’s Email Configuration Screen.
To find your SMTP settings
example: Outlook Express
1. Click Tools DAccounts
2. Click the Mail tab DSelect account
3. Click Properties DServers tab
Email Accounts
To add an email address:
1. Open the Email select drop-down box.
2. Select one of the 16 address locations.
3. Enter the email address in the “Send to”
box.
4. Select the areas and events which will
generate an email notification.
5. Click “Save”.
The first Email address (01) is used in
the Email’s “From” field. To avoid being
rejected as spam, the address used
should originate from the Internet
service provider to which the IP100 is
connected i.e.
jsmith@InternetServiceProvider.com.
