As part of Paradyne’s ongoing enhancement and quality program, the COMSPHERE
3600 Series Data Service Unit (DSU) incorporates several new features. Firmware and
DSUs with firmware releases 8.xx and above provide:
Automatic detection of the DDS data rate. The factory-default for Rate(Kbps) is now
Auto. For maximum reliability and minimum power-up time, set the actual data rate
after installation.
Two additional factory default configuration sets are available for multipoint control
and multipoint tributary.
Each set of existing factory default configuration options has changed. Refer to
Table A-1 in Appendix A in each of the following documents:

When any change is made to a configuration and not saved, a prompt displays
asking the user: Save Options? or Save Changes?
Dial Tone Test is available from the Test branch for Dial Backup Modules (DBMs).
Reset is available from the Control branch to initiate a power-up routine.
Power On Test General configuration option. When disabled, the DSU bypasses
device tests.
Facility Alarms for crossed pair detection, no synchronization during auto-rating,
control mode idle, and rate conflict.

Software and Firmware Version Control
The DSU software version now has an additional setting of 6.66. Use the new setting of
6.66 when the control DSU firmware version is 5.00 to 6.99 and the tributary DSU firmware
version is 7.25 or higher.
It is recommended that the control and tributary DSUs have the same firmware version or
that the control has the highest firmware version. If the control DSU software version is less
than 7.24 but greater than 1.10, changes are required to the DSU tributary firmware
version in the General configuration options.
