System Description
The PAPR assembly is designed to be used with the Parweld headgear to form a complete approved
respiratory system. When used in accordance with its CE approval, PAPR assemblies help provide
respiratory protection against particulates. The XR940A/XR950A does not provide protection against
vapors or gases and is not an intrinsically safe system.
The belt mounted assemblies consist of a motor/blower unit, high efficiency filter, waist belt, and
lithium ion battery pack. The motor/blower unit draws ambient air through its high efficiency filter and
supplies filtered air to the headgear via a breathing tube. The blower unit is equipped with automatic
flow control; the motor speed is regulated during operation to compensate for the charge state of the
battery pack and the increasing level of airflow resistance caused by filter loading. Should the airflow
fall below the minimum design flow rate, an audible alarm will sound and the red fan shape LED on the
blower unit will flash to warn the user to immediately leave the contaminated environment. Similarly
an audible and visual low battery alarm will activate when the battery pack has approximately 10-15
minutes of charge remaining to warn the user to leave the contaminated area.

!WARNING
Properly selected, used, and maintained respirators help protect against certain airborne
contaminants by reducing concentrations in the wear’s breathing zone below the Occupational
Exposure Limit (OEL). It is essential to follow all instructions and government regulations on
the use of this product, including wearing the complete respirator system during all times of
exposure, in order for the product to help protect the wearer. Misuse of respirators may result in
overexposure to contaminants and lead to sickness or death. For proper use, see supervisor,
refer to the product User Instructions.
Limitations of Use
Do not wear this respirator system to enter areas where:
•Atmospheres are oxygen deficient;
•Contaminant concentrations are unknown;
•Contaminant concentrations are Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health (IDLH);
•Contaminant concentrations exceed the maximum use concentration (MUC) determined using the
Assigned Protection Factor (APF) for the specific respirator system or the APF mandated by specific
government standards, whichever is lower.
Immediately exit the contaminated area if any of the low battery or low airflow alarms
activate.
Refer to the User Instructions provided with the applicable headgear and the additional cautions and
limitations under these User Instructions.
The recommended operating altitude range of the XR940A/XR950A is approximately sea level to 2600
feet (800 metres).
Do not use in environments subject to high magnetic fields.

!WARNING

2. The Parweld Powered Air Purifying Respirator Assembly is not intrinsically safe. Do not use in
flammable or explosive atmospheres. Doing so may result in serious injury or death.
3. Always correctly use and maintain the filter assembly. Failure to do so may reduce respirator
performance, overexpose you to contaminants, and may result in sickness or death.
a. Inspect filter and gasket(s) before first installation or reinstallation of a filter, replace if
damaged.
b. Always properly install the filter into the blower unit.
c. Keep sealing gasket(s) clean.
d. Never attempt to clean filter by knocking or blowing out accumulated material. Doing so will
damage the filter media.
e. Store the filter as described in these User Instructions within the recommended storage
temperature conditions and observe filter expiration dates.
4. Failure to follow these User Instructions may reduce respirator performance,
overexpose you to contaminants, and may result in injury, sickness, or death.
a. Do not use with parts or accessories other than those manufactured by Parweld as described
in these User Instructions or on the CE approval label for this respirator.
b. The Parweld Powered Air Purifying Respirator XR940A/XR950A Assembly is one component
of an approved respiratory protection system. Always read and follow all User Instructions
supplied with your Parweld headgear and other system components in order to ensure
correct system operation.
5. Always correctly use and maintain the lithium ion battery packs. Failure to do so may cause
fire or explosion or could adversely affect respirator performance and result in injury,
sickness, or death.
a. Do not charge batteries with unapproved chargers, in enclosed cabinets without ventilation,
in hazardous locations, or near sources of high heat.
b. Charge in an area free of combustible material and readily monitored.
c. Do not immerse.
d. Do not use, charge, or store batteries outside the recommended temperature limits.
6. Dispose of lithium ion battery packs according to local environmental regulations. Do not crush,
disassemble, dispose of in standard waste bins, in a fire or send for incineration. Failure to
properly dispose of battery packs may lead to environmental contamination, fire or
explosion.
7. To reduce exposure to hazardous voltage:
a. Do not attempt to service the chargers. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
b. Do not substitute, modify or add parts to the chargers.
c. Inspect the chargers and power cords before use. Replace if any parts are damaged.
d. Do not use the chargers outdoors or in wet environments areas.

Description du système
L’appareil PAPR est conçu pour être utilisé avec le casque Parweld et former un système de protection
respiratoire complet et agréé. Utilisé conformément à son marquage CE, le système PAPR offre une
protection respiratoire contre les particules. Le XR940A/XR950A n’offre pas de protection contre les
vapeurs ni les gaz et ne constitue pas un système à sécurité intrinsèque.
Les appareils portés à la ceinture se composent d’un groupe moteur/ventilateur, d’un filtre à haute
efficacité, d'une ceinture et d’un accu lithium-ion. Le groupe moteur/ventilateur prélève l’air ambiant à
travers le filtre à haute efficacité et refoule l’air filtré vers le casque via un tuyau respiratoire. Le groupe
ventilateur est doté d’un contrôle automatique de flux d’air ; le régime du moteur est réglé lors du
fonctionnement de manière à compenser le niveau de charge de l’accu et le niveau croissant de résis-
tance à l’écoulement d’air dû à la charge du filtre. Si le flux d’air descend en-deçà du débit minimum
nominal, une alarme sonore retentit et la LED en forme de drapeau rouge sur le groupe ventilateur
clignote afin d’avertir et inciter l’utilisateur à quitter immédiatement l’environnement contaminé. De
même, un signal sonore et visuel Batterie faible est activé dès que la charge de l’accu suffit encore
pour quelque 10-15 minutes pour avertir et inciter l’utilisateur à quitter la zone contaminée.

!AVERTISSEMENT
Correctement sélectionnés, utilisés et entretenus, les appareils respiratoires contribuent à protéger
contre certains polluants atmosphériques en réduisant la concentration de ces derniers au sein
de la zone de respiration de l’utilisateur sous la valeur limite d’exposition professionnelle (LEP).
Respecter scrupuleusement toutes les instructions et directives légales relatives à l’utilisation de
ce produit, ceci comprenant le port du système de protection respiratoire complet pendant toute
la durée d’exposition, de manière que le produit contribue à la protection de l’utilisateur. Toute
utilisation non conforme des appareils respiratoires peut entraîner une exposition exces-
sive aux contaminants et causer des maladies voire la mort. Consulter le superviseur et les
instructions d’utilisation pour l’utilisation conforme.
Restrictions d’utilisation
Ne pas porter ce système de protection respiratoire lors de l’accès à des zones où :
•l’atmosphère manque d’oxygène ;
•les concentrations de contaminants sont inconnues ;
•les concentrations de contaminants représentent un danger immédiat pour la vie ou la santé (DIVS) ;
• les concentrations de contaminants sont supérieures à la concentration maximum en service (MUC)
déterminée à l’aide du facteur de protection assigné (APF) pour le système spécifique de protection
respiratoire ou de l’APF exigé par les normes légales (selon le plus bas).
Quitter immédiatement la zone contaminée dès qu’une des alarmes de Batterie faible ou Flux
d’air faible est active.
Consulter les instructions d’utilisation jointes au casque ainsi que les avertissements et restrictions
supplémentaires de ces instructions.
La plage d’altitude en fonctionnement recommandée pour le XR940A/XR950A va du niveau de la mer
jusqu’à 800 m.
Ne pas utiliser dans des environnements pouvant présenter de puissants champs magnétiques.

2. L’appareil de protection respiratoire à adduction d’air Parweld n’est pas un système à sécuri-
té intrinsèque. Ne pas utiliser dans des atmosphères inflammables ou explosibles. Ceci peut
entraîner de graves blessures voire la mort.
3. Toujours utiliser et entretenir correctement le module de filtre. Le non-respect de ce point
peut entraver les performances de l’appareil respiratoire, entraîner une exposition ex-
cessive aux contaminants et causer des maladies voire la mort.
a. Contrôler le filtre et le ou les joints avant la (première) mise en place du filtre, remplacer ces
composants s’ils sont endommagés.
b. Toujours bien mettre le filtre en place dans le groupe ventilateur.
c. Le ou les joints d’étanchéité doivent être bien propres.
d. Ne jamais tenter de nettoyer le filtre en le heurtant ou en soufflant les matières accumulées.
Ceci risque d’endommager le matériau filtrant.
e. Stocker le filtre comme décrit dans les présentes instructions d’utilisation, en respectant la
température de stockage recommandée ainsi que les dates de péremption des filtres.
4. Le non-respect des instructions d’utilisation peut entraver les performances de
l’appareil respiratoire, entraîner une exposition excessive aux contaminants et causer
des maladies voire la mort.
a. Ne pas utiliser avec des composants ou accessoires autres que ceux fabriqués par Parweld
comme décrit dans les présentes instructions d’utilisation ou conformément au marquage
d’agrément CE pour cet appareil respiratoire.
b. L’appareil de protection respiratoire à adduction d’air Parweld XR940A/XR950A constitue un
composant faisant partie d’un système de protection respiratoire agréé. Toujours lire et res-
pecter les instructions d’utilisation jointes à votre casque Parweld et aux autres composants,
de manière à garantir le fonctionnement correct du système.
5. Toujours utiliser et entretenir correctement les accus lithium-ion. Le non-respect de ce point
peut entraîner un incendie ou une explosion ou entraver les performances de l’appareil
respiratoire, causant des blessures, des maladies voire même la mort.
a. Ne pas recharger l’accu avec un chargeur non agréé, dans des armoires fermées sans venti-
lation, dans des zones dangereuses ou à proximité de sources de forte chaleur.
b. Recharger l’accu dans des zones exemptes de matières combustibles et pouvant être aisé-
ment contrôlées.
c. Ne pas immerger dans l’eau.
d. Ne pas utiliser, recharger ni stocker des accus en dehors de la plage de température recom-
mandée.
6. Éliminer les accus lithium-ion conformément aux règlements applicables localement en matière
d’environnement. Ne pas détruire, démonter, jeter avec les ordures ménagères, jeter dans le
feu ni incinérer. L’élimination non conforme des accus peut entraîner une contamination
de l’environnement, un incendie ou une explosion.
7. Pour réduire l’exposition à une tension dangereuse :
a. Ne pas tenter d’entretenir les chargeurs. Ils ne contiennent pas de composants devant être
entretenus pas l’utilisateur.
b. Ne pas remplacer, modifier ni ajouter des composants aux chargeurs.
c. Contrôler les chargeurs et le câble d’alimentation avant l’utilisation. Remplacer le chargeur si
les composants sont endommagés.
d. Ne pas utiliser les chargeurs à l’extérieur ni dans des environnements humides.
