•Alwaysdisconnectthe airsupplyhose when the toolisnotinuse orwhen movingto
another workarea.
•Neverservice orrepairthe tool,clearobstructions ormakeadjustmentswhilethe air
supplyhose isconnected.
•Onlycompressed airshouldbe used topowerthistool;do notexceed 110 psi(7.6bar).
•Neveruse oxygen oranyothercompressed gas as apowersource forthistool.
Explosion mayoccur.
•Alwayswear OSHA-required Z-87 safetyglasses withside shields.

CONNECTION&AIRSUPPLY SYSTEM
Toensuremaximumperformance and efficiency,and also aminimumofcare,this
pneumatictoolrequires clean, dryair. It isnecessarytouse afilterand apressure

At80 psi(5.5bar) and 40 hitsperminute,thistoolconsumes approximately1.9cu.ft(50R)
ofairperminuteat70EF(21EC). Higherairpressurewill increase the consumption of
compressed air.
Thistoolisdesigned tobe operated withacompressed airpressureof80 to100 psi
(5.5-7.0bar). Anairpressureof90 psi (6.2bar) isadequateformostsituations,although
occasionally,ahigherpressurecouldbe necessary,forexampletouse the toolwith
differentspecies of harderwood.Alwaysuse the toolsat minimum operatingpressurein
ordertoavoidunnecessaryhighnoise level.Inthese moredifficultcases,the compressed
airpressurecan be increased up to110 psi(7.0bar). It isveryimportantnottoexceed this
maximum pressuretoprevent leaks, prematurewear or damagetothe tool.

Checkthecompressedairsupplyhosebeforeconnectingtoensurethattheyarefree from
dirt or particles thatcan alterthe performance ofthe tool. Payspecialattention toanyair
leaks.Donotuseacompressed airpressurehigherthan110psi(7.6bar). Higherpressure

Thissection will helptodiagnose common problemsand will givesuggestions tosolve
them.
TO PREVENTINJURY,ALWAYS DISCONNECT THE AIR SUPPLY HOSE
WHEN ADJUSTING,SERVICING ORDISASSEMBLING THE TOOL.
FIRST:CHECK THE COMPRESSED AIRSUPPLY

Beforeattemptingtorepair the tool, the followingpointsshouldbe checked:
• checkthe pressureatthe outputofthe compressor; adjustto80-100 psi
(5.5-7.0bar) as required
• checkthe tankpressureofthe compressor &adjust the start/stop limits
•checkthe air deliverysystem; a3/8" hose isrecommended
• use fewertoolssimultaneously;do notexceed the capacityofthe compressororof
the deliverysystem
• drainwater from the compressor
SECOND:CHECK FORAIRLEAKS
At rest, thistoolshouldnot haveanyairleak.Beforeattemptingtorepairthe tool and
replace parts, checkthe following:
•Checkringsand replace ifnecessary
•The top edgeofmaincylinder shouldbe free ofdents.
•Clean &lubricatethe head assembly; re-assemblethe head assemblycarefully
• Checkinterior ofhead for scratches
TOOLDOES NOTDRIVE FASTENERS
• Checkthat therearefastenersinthe feeder channel
•Makesurethe feeder clipisengaged behind the fasteners
•Checkthe front end ofthe feeder channelfor burrsor damages
•Checkthe safetymechanism
•Checkifthe driver isstuckindownposition (see below)
•Checkfor obstruction inthe fastener ejection area

FASTENERS ARE NOTSET COMPLETELY
•First, verifyair supply
• Clean tooland lubricatetool; particularlythe head assembly
•Increase airpressurewhen workingwithharderwoods;do notexceed 110 psi (7.6
bar)
•Checkthe drivingblade for broken end
•Checkpiston wear-ringP-622A; replace ifpiston isslidingtoeasily
• ChecksealbushingP-525B
• Checkthe adjustmentofthebase and ensurethe tooliswell seated on the floor
whileejecting
TOOLDOES NOTACTIVATE
• Checkthe air supply
•Inspect the head assemblyand checkall seals; reassemblecarefully
DRIVING BLADE DOES NOTRETURN
• Checkfor jammed fastener or obstruction
•Checkgate/foot and end offeeder channelfor damages or burrs.
•Checkthe drivingblade
•Inspect the head assemblyand checkall seals; clean &lubricate.
•Checkband-valveP-618A.
• Checkthat the bumper P-525Aand sealbushingP-525Bareinplace.
BROKEN ORWORN DRIVING BLADE
Replace the drivingblade.Failuretofollowthe instructionscarefullywill resultin
repeated breakageofthe drivingblade.
POORFEEDORTOOLJAMMING
•Makesurethe feeder clipengages behind the fasteners
•Checkthe gate/foot assemblyfor damages or wear
•Checkthe front end ofthe feeder channelfor burrsor damages
