STEP 1. Set one Leg
on a at surface with
the groove near the
middle facing upward,
then t the tongue
piece at the end of
one Spreader into
the Leg groove (see
FIGURE 1 , at left, for
a close-up of tongue-
and-groove connection
points ). Fit another Leg
onto the top of that
Spreader in the same
manner, making sure
that the holes drilled at
one end of both Legs
are facing the same direction; Legs and Spreader will now form an
"H." (FIGURE 2).
NOTE: Chair parts are made to connect precisely, so you may nd
the t a little tight during assembly. If so, lightly tap parts into place
with a Rubber Mallet.

the Barrel Bolt
head, marring

ance of your
Durawood
Essentials
Side Table.

To correctly thread Barrel Bolts to Bolt Fasteners:
Fit the Fastener over the bottom of the Bolt, turn-
ing the Fastener at rst counterclockwise, until
you hear a slight click, which means the Bolt is in
its groove. Now begin tightening clockwise as you
normally would.

Before beginning assembly, make sure you have all parts. Note
that not all parts pictured are to scale.

STEP 3. Set the Table-
top upside down on
a at surface. Slide
the grooved ends of
one "H" piece over the
tongue pieces cut into
the Tabletop corners
(FIGURE 4), repeat-
ing with the other "H"
piece and remaining
two tongue pieces,
tapping the Legs lightly
with a Rubber Mallet, if
necessary.

STEP 2. Using a
Drill tted with the
Square-Head Drill Bit
provided, screw one
Flathead Screw into
the hole opposite
the Spreader on the
outside of the top
chair Leg from STEP
1, careful not to
overtighten (FIGURE
3). Flip the "H" to its
opposite side, using
another Flathead
Screw to attach the
opposite Leg to the
Spreader. Repeat
STEPS 1-2 to connect
the other Spreader
and two remaining
Legs.
GROOVE
STEP 4. Take apart one Barrel Bolt Assembly, inserting the Barrel
Bolt into a hole near one Tabletop corner opposite where a Leg
connects (FIGURE 5), tapping gently with a Rubber Mallet, if
necessary. Fit the Bolt Fastener over the bottom of the Barrel Bolt,
following the instructions on Using Barrel Bolts on the other side
of this page; hand-tighten only. Repeat this step with the three
remaining Tabletop holes and Barrel Bolt Assembly.

STEP 5. Using the Allen Wrench and a Standard Phillips Head
Screwdriver, go back and fully tighten the four Barrel Bolt As-
sembly from STEP 4 (FIGURE 6), careful not to over-tighten.
STEP 6 Set your Durawood Essentials Side Table upright —
you're done with assembly, and ready to enjoy it!
