TROUBLESHOOTING
Your control system is designed to provide years of trouble-free pool and spa
enjoyment. However, if at any time your system behaves erratically, consult the
following Check List, which should help alleviate any problems caused by operator
error. If you are still unable to solve your particular symptom, refer the situation
to a qualified pool service company.
NOTHING OPERATES :
1. Check all circuit breakers at electrical subpanel.
2. Check 3 amp circuit breaker which is located above FILTER TIMER Dial in
Power Center. A tripped circuit breaker is indicated by a white tab.
3. If circuit breaker continues to trip, refer to a qualified service company.
FILTER PUMP DOES NOT OPERATE :
1. Check that FILTER TIMER Dial in Power Center is programmed on, and
that FILTER PUMP Service Switch in not in the “OFF” position.
2. Check filter pump circuit breaker at electrical subpanel.
3. Filter pump may require servicing.
POOL CLEANER DOES NOT OPERATE :
1. Make sure that Remote Control switches are connected to the system.

MAINTENANCE
WINTERIZING THE SYSTEM :
During the winter season, it is possible to partially drain your swimming pool and
disable the pool equipment, but still be able to use your spa.
Consult a qualified service company to drain the pool, and protect the plumbing
from freeze damage.
The following procedures will disable the pool equipment :
1. At the Remote control, turn the SPA Switch to “SPA” position.
2. Unplug cables from Valve Actuators.
3. At the Remote Control, turn the SPA Switch back to “POOL” position.
4. At the Power Center, turn FILTER PUMP Service Switch to the “OFF” position.
NOTE : If daily spa filtration is required, the FILTER TIMER Dial should be
programmed accordingly.
A Recirculating Freeze Sensor (model FPS-C) may have been added to your
system. It protects the plumbing and equipment from possible freeze damage,
by running the filter pump whenever the temperature falls to approximately 41° F.
In this instance, it will not be necessary to have the swimming pool drained. It is,
however, recommended that all freeze sensors be tested by an authorized Service-
person before the onset of the winter season.
Testing can be accomplished by placing sensor in a glass of ice water, and
turning FILTER PUMP Service Switch to the “OFF” position. If the sensor is
functioning correctly, the filter pump should turn on within ten minutes.
Repeat this test for any Auxiliary Freeze Sensors (model FPS-AUX) which
may have been added for the jet pump or auxiliary equipment.
CLEANING THE SPA :
It is possible to empty your spa for cleaning and maintenance purposes, and
then to refill with clean water from your pool.
At the Power Center :
1. Set the SPA SERVICE Switch to “DRAIN” position.
2. Set the FILTER PUMP Service Switch to “ON” position. The spa will begin
to drain into the pool.
3. Before the spa has drained completely, set the FILTER PUMP Service Switch
to “OFF” position. Do not drain the spa completely or prime will be lost.
4. When cleaning or spa maintenance is complete, set the SPA SERVICE
Switch to “FILL” position and the FILTER PUMP Service Switch to “ON”
position. The spa will begin to fill with clean water from the pool.
5. When water level in the spa has returned to normal, return the SPA SERVICE
Switch to “AUTO” position and the FILTER PUMP Service Switch to “TIMER”
position.
CAUTION : Do NOT leave equipment unattended when draining or filling the spa.

3
When operating or servicing this electrical equipment, basic safety
precautions should always be observed.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of injury, do not permit children to use this product unless they
are closely supervised at all times.
INTRODUCTION
The CP-30 is a remote control system which is designed to coordinate and
operate all of the equipment associated with your swimming pool and spa.
The system is comprised of three principal components:
1. The LX-30 Power Center;
2. Two CVA-24 Valve Actuators; and
3. The CP-30 Remote Control.
The Power Center automatically control the timing of your filter pump and pool
cleaner (if applicable); the Valve Actuators automatically switches the filter
between pool and spa circulation; and the Remote Control provides convenient
switching of your spa, heater, and two auxiliary pieces of equipment (such as: air
jets, lights, waterfall, etc.).
Additionally, the CP-30 incorporates important safety features which protect your
pool equipment from accidental damage.
Before using this equipment, obtain a copy of the Installation Instructions and
the completed EQUIPMENT CHECKLIST from your Pool Builder or Start-up
Person.
6
VALVE ACTUATORS
Your control system is designed to activate two motorized valves which
automatically rotate between pool and spa filtration whenever the SPA Switch is
activated at the Remote Control.
The valves are also activated from the “FILL” and “DRAIN” positions of the SPA
SERVICE Switch at the power Center.
REMOTE CONTROL
A four-function Remote Control Switchplate is
provided in a convenient location for your daily
spa use.
It operates your spa, heater and two auxiliary
pieces of equipment.
SPA Switch :
Rotates motorized valves between pool circulation
and spa circulation. In “SPA” position, the filter
pump will automatically be activated, even if the
FILTER TIME Dial is not programmed on.
NOTE : If your pool is equipped with a pool
cleaner pump, a built-in safety circuit will
automatically turn off the pool cleaner
whenever the spa is in use.
HEAT Switch :
IF YOUR SYSTEM INCORPORATES A DUAL THERMOSTAT HEATER :
SPA Position : Enables heater to heat the water to the “high” thermostat
setting whenever the filter pump is running;
OFF Position : Disables the heater;
POOL Position : Enables heater to heat the water to the “low” thermostat setting
whenever the filter pump is running.
IF YOUR SYSTEM INCORPORATES A SINGLE THERMOSTAT HEATER :
SPA Position : Enables the heater whenever the filter pump is running;
OFF Position : Disables the heater;
POOL Position : Disables the heater.
AUX1 and AUX2 Switches :
These switches are used to control additional equipment (such as pumps, lights,
fountain, waterfall, etc.).

4 5
POWER CENTER
FILTER TIMER Dial :
Check with your Pool Builder or Service company as to the amount of time
required to provide efficient filtration and cleaning of your pool.
To set the correct time of day, rotate the FILTER TIMER Dial in a clockwise
direction until the hours and minutes line up with the white arrow at eight o’clock
position on the clock face.
Pay particular attention to the AM and PM sections of the Dial.
To program the daily filtration cycle(s), depress the desired number of sections
around the perimeter of the Dial by pushing towards the center. For each section,
depress the filter pump will operate for 15 minutes.
FILTER PUMP Service Switch :
For normal system operation, keep this Switch in the “TIMER” position. The
“OFF” and “ON” positions allow your Pool Service-person to override the FILTER
TIMER Dial without altering the program.
PUMP OFF DELAY Light :
A built-in electronic delay circuit will automatically run the filter pump for an
additional 4 minutes whenever the system is turned off.
This feature enables the heater to cool down so that the heat exchanger and
plumbing are not damaged from overheating.
The PUMP OFF DELAY Light indicates that the delay is in effect.
NOTE : It is possible to temporarily cancel this delay by switching the FILTER
PUMP Service Switch to “OFF” and the back to “TIMER”.
POWER ON Light :
Indicates that power has been connected to the system.
If this light is not on, consult your Pool Service-person.
SPA SERVICE Switch :
For normal system operation, keep this Switch in the “AUTO” position. The “FILL”
and “DRAIN” positions are used when cleaning the spa.
CLEANER TIMER Dial :
If your system incorporates a mechanical time clock for the pool cleaner, follow
the same procedure as the FILTER TIMER for setting the correct time of day and
programming the operating cycle(s) of your cleaner.
NOTE : A built-in protection circuit automatically activates the filer to pump
whenever the cleaner is running, even if the FILTER TIMER is not
programmed on. This safeguards against possible damage to the pool
cleaner pump when there is not water circulation.
