Control Keys
There are three control keys on the outer cover of the
mobile phone: , , and .
For each key, there are 4 modes:
• Idle mode
•MP3mode
• Incoming call mode
• Handset mode during incoming call
In Idle mode, you can long press any one of the 3 keys
to turn the sub-LCD on. Once the sub-LCD is turn
on, press to activate music player.
In MP3 mode, short press the to turn the volume
down, short press the to turn the volume up, and
short press the to pause or resume playing.
In MP3 mode, long press the to go to the previous
song, long press the to go to the next song, and long
press the to turn off the MP3 function.
In Incoming Call mode, short press either the or
the to silent the call. Long press either the or
to reject the call.
In Headset mode during incoming call, short press or
long press the to turn the volume down; short press
or long press the to turn the volume up.
Softkeys
The left and right soft keys (L and R) are located
at the top of keypad area. Pressing the soft keys allows
you to select the option displayed on the screen
directly above them, including options during a call.
The functions of the soft keys change according to the
current context.
Operations of the headset
The following operations are applicable to headsets
with only one key.
When you enter a phone number in idle mode, short
press the headset key to dial the number. To stop
dialling, long press the headset key.
During a call, short press the headset key to record or
stop recording; long press to hang up the phone.
When there is an incoming call, press the headset key
to answer the call; long press to reject the call.
Main Menu
You can access the different features of your Philips 598
phone from the main menu. The following table
summarises the structure of the Main menu, what the
icons represent and the page number on which you can
obtain more information regarding the menu functions.
