Important
Read these instructions for use carefully before
using the appliance and save them for future
reference.
◗Only use the powerplug supplied.
◗The powerplug transforms 100-240 volts to a
safe low voltage of less than 24 volts.
◗The powerplug contains a transformer. Do
not cut off the powerplug to replace it with
another plug, as this will cause a hazardous
situation.
◗Do not use a damaged powerplug.
◗If the powerplug is damaged, always have it
replaced by one of the original type in order
to avoid a hazard.
C◗Make sure the powerplug does not get wet.
◗Charge, store and use the appliance at a
temperature between 5cC and 35cC.
◗Do not recharge the shaver in a closed
cassette.
C◗The appliance complies with the
internationally approved IEC safety regulations
and can be safely cleaned under the tap.
Be careful with hot water. Always check if the
water is not too hot, to prevent your hands from
getting burnt.
◗Always unplug the shaver before cleaning it
under the tap.

Charging
Make sure the appliance is switched off before
you start charging it.
When you charge the shaver for the first time or
after a long period of disuse, let it charge
continuously for 4 hours. Charging normally takes
approx. 1 hour.
You can also shave without charging by
connecting the shaver to the mains.
Do not leave the appliance connected to the
mains for more than 24 hours.

Charging
C◗As soon as you start charging the empty
shaver, the green pilot light goes on.
Battery fully charged
C◗When the battery has been fully charged, the
green pilot light starts blinking.

Battery running low
C◗When the battery is running low, the red pilot
light goes on.When you switch the shaver off,
the red pilot light blinks a few times.
Charging the appliance
Charge the appliance when the red pilot light
blinks.
Do not recharge the shaver in a closed cassette.
C1Put the appliance plug in the shaver.
2Put the powerplug in the wall socket.
3Remove the powerplug from the wall
socket and pull the appliance plug out of
the shaver when the battery has been fully
charged.
Cordless shaving time
A fully charged shaver has a cordless shaving time
of up to 30 minutes.

Using the appliance
Shaving
1Switch the shaver on by pressing the on/off
button once.
C2Move the shaving heads quickly over your
skin, making both straight and circular
movements.
Shaving on a dry face gives the best results.
Your skin may need 2 or 3 weeks to get
accustomed to the Philips shaving system.
3Switch the shaver off by pressing the on/off
button once.
C4Put the protection cap on the shaver every
time you have used it, to prevent damage.
Trimming
For grooming sideburns and moustache.
C1Open the trimmer by pushing the slide
upwards.
The trimmer can be activated while the motor is
running.
Cleaning and maintenance
Regular cleaning guarantees better shaving
performance.

The easiest and most hygienic way to clean the
appliance is to rinse the shaving unit and the hair
chamber with hot water every time you have
used the shaver.
Be careful with hot water. Always check if the
water is not too hot, to prevent your hands from
getting burnt.
C◗For extra thorough cleaning, the Philips Action
Clean (shaving head cleaner, type HQ100) is
available.Ask your Philips dealer for
information.
BThe Philips Action Clean may not be available in
all countries. Contact the Customer Care Centre in
your country about the availability of this
accessory.
You can also clean the shaver in the following
way:
Every day: shaving unit and hair chamber
1Switch the shaver off, remove the
powerplug from the wall socket and pull
the appliance plug out of the shaver.
C2Press the release button to open the
shaving unit.

C3Clean the shaving unit and the hair
chamber by rinsing them under a hot tap
for some time.
4Rinse the outside of the appliance.
5Close the shaving unit and shake off excess
water.
Never dry the shaving unit with a towel or tissue
as this may damage the shaving heads.
C6Open the shaving unit again and leave it
open to let the appliance dry completely.
You can also clean the hair chamber without
water by using the brush supplied.
Every six months: shaving heads
C1Open the shaving unit, turn the wheel
anticlockwise (1) and remove the retaining
frame (2).
C2Clean the cutters and guards with the
brush supplied.
Do not clean more than one cutter and guard at
a time, since they are all matching sets. If you
accidentally mix up the cutters and guards, it may
take several weeks before optimal shaving
performance is restored.
3Put the shaving heads back into the shaving
unit. Put the retaining frame back into the

shaving unit, press the wheel (1) and turn it
clockwise (2).
4Close the shaving unit.
Trimmer
Clean the trimmer every time you have used it.
1Switch the shaver off, remove the
powerplug from the wall socket and pull
the appliance plug out of the shaver.
C2Clean the trimmer with the brush
supplied.
C3Lubricate the trimmer teeth with a drop
of sewing machine oil every six months.
Storage
C◗Put the protection cap on the shaver to
prevent damage.
◗The powerplug and the shaver can be stored
in the luxury cassette supplied.
Replacement
Replace the shaving heads every two years for
optimal shaving results.

Replace damaged or worn shaving heads with
HQ53 Philips shaving heads only.
1Switch the shaver off, remove the
powerplug from the wall socket and pull
the appliance plug out of the shaver.
C2Press the release button to open the
shaving unit.
C3Turn the wheel anticlockwise (1) and
remove the retaining frame (2).
C4Remove the shaving heads and place new
ones in the shaving unit.
C5Put the retaining frame back into the
shaving unit, press the wheel (1) and turn it
clockwise (2).
6Close the shaving unit.

The following accessories are available:
- HQ8000 powerplug.
- HQ53 Philips shaving heads.
- HQ100 Philips Action Clean
(shaving head cleaner).

- HQ110 Philips shaving head cleaner (shaving
head cleaning spray).
Environment
C◗Do not throw the appliance away with the
normal household waste at the end of its life,
but hand it in at an official collection point for
recycling. By doing this you will help to
preserve the environment.
The built-in rechargeable battery contains
substances that may pollute the environment.
Always remove the battery before discarding the
appliance or handing it in at an official collection
point. Dispose of the battery at an official
collection point for batteries. If you have trouble
removing the battery, you can also take the
appliance to a Philips service centre, which will
remove the battery for you and will dispose of it
in an environmentally safe way.
Disposal of the battery
Only remove the battery if it is completely empty.
1Remove the powerplug from the wall
socket and pull the appliance plug out of
the shaver.
C2Let the shaver run until it stops, undo the
screws and open the shaver.

3Remove the battery.
Do not connect the shaver to the mains again
after the battery has been removed.

Troubleshooting
1Reduced shaving performance
BCause 1: the shaving heads are dirty.
BThe shaver has not been rinsed long enough or
the water used was not hot enough.
◗Clean the shaver thoroughly before you
continue shaving. See chapter 'Cleaning and
maintenance'.
BCause 2: long hairs are obstructing the shaving
heads.

◗Clean the cutters and guards with the brush
supplied. See chapter 'Cleaning and
maintenance', section 'Every six months:
shaving heads'.
BCause 3: the shaving heads are damaged or worn.
◗Replace the shaving heads. See chapter
'Replacement'.
2The shaver does not work when the on/off
button is pressed
BCause 1: the battery is empty.
◗Recharge the battery. See chapter 'Charging'.
BCause 2: the shaver is not connected to the mains.
◗Put the powerplug in the wall socket.
3The shaving unit has come off the shaver.
BCause: the shaving unit has not been placed
correctly.
◗If the shaving unit becomes detached from the
shaver, check whether the hinge spring is still
properly attached, i.e. has not come loose and
does not show any cracks or damage. If the
hinge spring is still properly attached, the
shaving unit can be easily put back on the
shaver again. However, if the hinge spring has
come loose, is cracked or damaged, please

contact your Philips dealer or the nearest
Philips service centre to avoid damage to your
shaver.

Mengecas
Pastikan perkakas dimatikan sebelum dicas.
Apabila anda mengecas pencukur buat pertama
kali setelah lama tidak digunakan, biarkan ia dicas
berterusan selama 4 jam. Pengecasan ini biasanya
mengambil masa selama lebih kurang 1 jam.
Anda juga dapat bercukur tanpa mengecas
dengan menyambungkan pencukur kepada sesalur
kuasa utama.
Jangan biarkan perkakas dipasang pada sesalur
kuasa selama lebih daripada 24 jam.

C◗Sebaik sahaja anda mula mengecas pencukur
yang kosong, lampu panduan hijau akan
menyala.
Bateri yang sudah dicas sepenuhnya.
C◗Apabila bateri telah dicas sepenuhnya, lampu
panduan hijau akan mula berkelip.

Kuasa bateri rendah
C◗Apabila kuasa bateri rendah, lampu panduan
merah menyala.Apabila anda mematikan
pencukur, lampu panduan merah berkelip
beberapa kali.
Mengecas perkakas
Cas perkakas apabila lampu panduan merah
berkelip.
Jangan mengecas semula pencukur di dalam kaset
yang tertutup.
C1Pasangkan plag perkakas pada alat
pencukur.
2Pasangkan plag kuasa ke soket dinding.
3Cabut plag kuasa dari soket dan cabut plag
alat dari pencukur apabila bateri telah dicas
penuh.
Masa pencukuran tanpa kord
Pencukur yang dicas penuh ada masa pencukuran
tanpa kord sehingga kira-kira 30 minit.

1Hidupkan alat pencukur dengan menekan
butang hidup/mati sekali.
C2Gerakkan kepala pencukur denagn gerakan
lurus dan membulat di atas permukaan

Hasil pencukuran yang terbaik akan terhasil jika
muka anda kering.
Kulit anda mungkin memerlukan 2 atau 3 minggu
untuk membiasakan diri dengan sistem Philips.
3Matikan pencukur dengan menekan butang
hidup/mati sekali.
C4Pasang semula penutup pelindung pada
pencukur setelah setiap penggunaan untuk
mengelakkan kerosakan.
Perapian
Untuk merapikan jambang dan kumis kemas.
C1Buka perapi dengan menolak selak ke atas.
Perapi dapat dihidupkan semasa motor berjalan.
Pembersihan dan penyenggaraan
Membersih alat pencukur dengan kerapkali
menjamin prestasi pencukuran terbaik.

Cara paling senang dan bersih untuk mencuci
perkakas adalah dengan membilas dengan air
panas unit mencukur dan ruang menyimpan
rambut setiap kali setelah anda menggunakan alat
pencukur tersebut.
Berhati-hati dengan air panas. Sentiasa periksa
agar air tidak begitu panas, untuk mengelakkan
tangan anda daripada kelecuran.
C◗Untuk pembersihan yang lebih menyeluruh,
pembersih Tindakan Bersih Philips (pembersih
kepala pencukur, jenis HQ100) tersedia.

Anda juga boleh membersihkan pencukur dengan
cara yang berikut:
Setiap hari: unit pencukur dan ruang rambut
1Matikan alat pencukur, cabut plag kuasa
dari soket dinding dan cabut plag perkakas
dari pencukur.
C2Tekan butang pelepas untuk membuka unit
pencukur.

dengan membilasnya di bawah paip air
panas untuk beberapa waktu
4Bilaskan bahagian luar perkakas.
5Tutup unit pencukur dan keluarkan air

Jangan keringkan unit pencukur dengan tuala atau
tisu, kerana ini akan merosakkan kepala alat
pencukur.
C6Buka unit pencukur sekali lagi dan biarkan
ia terbuka supaya perkakas kering
sepenuhnya.
Anda juga boleh membersihkan ruang rambut
tanpa air dengan menggunakan berus yang
dibekalkan.
Setiap enam bulan: kepala pencukur
C1Buka unit pencukur, putarkan roda
melawan arah jam (1) dan tanggalkan
rangka penahan (2).
C2Bersihkan pemotong dan adangan dengan
berus yang dibekalkan
Jangan bersihkan lebih dari satu pemotong dan
adangan pada sesuatu masa, kerana setiap set
adalah berpadanan. Jika anda tercampur adukkan
set pemotong dan adangan dengan tidak sengaja,

ia mungkin mengambil masa sehingga beberapa
minggu sebelum mutu pencukuran terbaik dapat
dicapai semula.
3Letakkan semula kepala pencukur ke dalam
unit pencukur. Letakkan semula rangka
penahan ke dalam unit pencukur, tekan
roda (1) dan pusingkannya ikut arah jam(2).
4Tutup alat pencukur.
Perapi
Bersihkan perapi setiap kali anda
menggunakannya.
1Matikan alat pencukur, cabut plag kuasa
dari soket dinding dan cabut plag perkakas
dari pencukur.
C2Bersihkan perapi dengan berus yang
dibekalkan.
C3Lincirkan gigi perapi setiap enam bulan
dengan setitik minyak mesin jahit.
