A HINWEIS! Ein LVS-Gerät schützt nicht vor Lawinen! Intensives Befassen mit der Thematik
Lawinenprävention ist ebenso unabdingbar wie das regelmäßige Üben des Ernstfalles
zur Verschüttetensuche. Die nachfolgend beschriebenen Verfahren und Hinweise beziehen
sich lediglich auf die spezielle Anwendung in Verbindung mit dem PIEPS PRO BT/POWDER BT.
Grundlegende Verhaltensregeln im Ernstfall – entsprechend einschlägigen Fachpublikationen
sowie Lehrinhalten von Lawinenkursen – sind unbedingt einzuhalten.
A HINWEIS! Alle LVS-Geräte sind naturgemäß empfindlich gegen elektrische und magnetische
Störquellen. Deshalb empfehlen alle Hersteller die Einhaltung von Mindestabständen
zu elektronischen, magnetischen sowie metallischen Einflussfaktoren (Mobiltelefon, Funk,
Schlüsselbund, Magnetverschluss, etc.): Mindestabstand im Sendemodus: 20 cm | Mindestabstand
im Suchmodus: 50 cm
A GEFAHR! Gefahr des Geräteverlusts. Verwahren Sie das Geräte im dafür vorgesehenen
Tragesystem! Befestigen Sie das Gerät mittels Befestigungsschlaufe!
A GEFAHR! Gefahr durch Nicht-Senden des Gerätes bei aktiviertem Bluetooth. Verwenden Sie den
Bluetooth-Modus nur für das Gerätemanagement und den Trainingsmodus. Verwenden Sie den
Bluetooth-Modus niemals in lawinengefährdetem Gelände!
A GEFAHR! Gefahr des Geräteverlusts während der Neigungswinkelmessung. Obwohl
das PIEPS PRO BT sendet während der Neigungswinkelmesser aktiv ist, verwenden Sie den
Neigungswinkelmesser nur für Trainingszwecke. Verwenden Sie den Neigungswinkelmesser
niemals in lawinengefährdetem Gelände!
A GEFAHR! Explosionsgefahr durch falsch verwendete oder beschädigte Batterien. Gefahr von
inkorrekter Kapazitätsanzeige durch falsch verwendete Batterien. Verwenden Sie ausschließlich
Batterien des Typs “Alkaline (AAA) LR03 1.5 V“ oder “Lithium (AAA) FR03 1.5V“! Die Verwendung von
Lithium-Batterien muss in der PIEPS APP bestätigt werden!
A WARNUNG! Gefahr von Hörschäden durch hohen Geräuschpegel. Halten Sie das Gerät niemals
unmittelbar zum Ohr. Empfohlen wird ein Mindestabstand von 50 cm.
A VORSICHT! Quetschgefahr. Beachten Sie die mögliche Quetschgefahr bei der Bedienung des
Hauptschalters!
A VORSICHT! Gefahr von Fehlfunktionalität oder Beschädigungen durch extreme Temperatur.
Setzen Sie das Gerät keinen extremen Temperaturen aus. Lagern Sie das Gerät so, dass es vor
direkter Sonneneinstrahlung geschützt ist. Extreme Temperaturen können die Funktionalität
beeinträchtigen bzw. die Batterie schädigen.
A HINWEIS! Bitte beachten Sie, dass es sich hier um ein elektronisches Gerät handelt. Eine
Entsorgung über öffentlich-rechtliche Entsorgungsträger ist daher nicht möglich. Halten

TRAGESYSTEM
PIEPS empfiehlt die Verwendung des mitgelieferten Tragesystems (3A). Positionieren Sie
das LVS-Gerät für best möglichen Schutz immer mit dem Display nach innen (3B). Die Sende-
Kontrolleuchte (1G) ist im Fenster des Tragesystems sichtbar (3C). Die inkludierte Handschlaufe
(3D) ist nur für Trainingszwecke vorgesehen.
EINSCHALTEN | SELBSTTEST | SENDEMODUS
Schieben Sie den Verriegelungsknopf (1C) nach links und den Hauptschalter (1B) nach oben in
die Position SEARCH. Lassen Sie dann den Verriegelungsknopf (1C) los und schieben Sie den
Haupschalter (1B) nach unten, bis er in der Position SEND einrastet.
Das Display zeigt die aktuelle Firmware-Version, die Batteriekapazität, den Status des
Selbsttests (4A), das Ergebnis des Selbsttests (4B), den Countdown für den Gruppencheck (4C)
und zum Schluß das Sende-Display mit der aktiven Sendeantenne (4D).
Das Gerät befindet sich nun im Sendemodus und die Sende-Kontrollleuchte (1G) blinkt.
SEND SEARCH
Schieben Sie den Verriegelungsknopf (1C) nach links und den Hauptschalter (1B) nach oben in
die Position SEARCH.
SEARCH SEND
Schieben Sie den Haupschalter (1B) nach unten, bis er in der Position SEND einrastet.

SUCHMODUS | SUCHSTRATEGIE
SIGNALSUCHE (5A)
Gehen Sie den festgelegten Suchbereich in der angegebenen Suchstreifenbreite zügig ab. Die
empfohlene Suchstreifenbreite für das PIEPS PRO BT/POWDER BT beträgt 60 m. Das Display
zeigt „kein Empfang“ (5A1).
GROBSUCHE (5B)
Folgen Sie ab Erstempfang zügig dem Richtungspfeil und achten Sie auf abnehmende
Entfernungswerte. Bei zunehmenden Entfernungswerten korrigieren Sie Ihre Richtung um 180°.
• (5B1) gehe nach links
• (5B2) gehe geradeaus
• (5B3) gehe nach rechts
FEINSUCHE (5C)
Ab 2 m Entfernung verschwindet der Richtungspfeil. Suchen Sie den Punkt der geringsten
Entfernungsanzeige. Arbeiten Sie langsam und an der Schneeoberfläche.
PUNKTSUCHE (5D)
Überprüfen Sie das Suchergebnis durch systematisches Sondieren. Lassen Sie bei einem
Treffer die Sonde stecken.
MEHRFACHVERSCHÜTTUNG (5E)
Eine Mehrfachverschüttung wird Ihnen durch die Anzahl der „Männchen“ am Display eindeutig
angezeigt (2G, 2H). Markieren ist ab 5 m Entfernung möglich und wird durch das Symbol MARK
(2E) angezeigt. Um einen lokalisierten Sender zu markieren („auszublenden“), drücken Sie kurz
die Taste MARK (1D). Das erfolgreiche Ausblenden wird mit einem Rahmen um das „Männchen“
bestätigt (2J). Das PIEPS PRO BT/POWDER BT zeigt automatisch das nächst stärkste Signal
innerhalb der Empfangsreichweite am Display an.
GRUPPENCHECK
Trotz des umfangreichen Selbsttests empfiehlt PIEPS vor jeder Tour einen LVS-Check
als Standardmaßnahme durchzuführen! Das PIEPS PRO BT/POWDER BT ist mit einer
Gruppencheck-Funktion ausgestattet. Die maximale Reichweite im Gruppencheck-Modus
beträgt 1 m.

Das PIEPS PRO BT verfügt zusätzlich über einen Profi-Modus, der einen einfachen Wechsel zwi-
schen Empfangen und Senden auch während des Gruppenchecks erlaubt. Standardmäßig ist
dieser Modus deaktiviert. Er kann im Gerätemanager der PIEPS APP aktiviert werden.
NACHLAWINE | AUTO-SEARCH-TO-SEND
Das PIEPS PRO BT/POWDER BT verfügt über die Funktion Auto-Search-to-Send. Standardmäßig
ist diese Funktion deaktiviert. Sie kann im Gerätemanager der PIEPS APP aktiviert werden.
Wenn sie aktiviert ist, erfolgt eine automatische Umschaltung vom Such- in den Sendemodus,
wenn das Gerät eine bestimmte Zeit in Ruhe liegt.

GERÄTEMANAGEMENT MIT DER PIEPS APP
Die PIEPS APP ermöglicht ein übersichtliches Gerätemanagement (z. B. Software Updates) über
Bluetooth® mit dem Mobiltelefon und beinhaltet zusätzlich einen praktischen Trainingsmodus.
PIEPS APP herunterladen (Android Play Store, iOS App store), mit PIEPS PRO BT/POWDER BT
verbinden und alle Vorteile der Funktionen nutzen!
A HINWEIS! Wenn Sie die PIEPS APP bereits installiert haben, achten Sie darauf, dass die
aktuellste Version verwendet wird.
Um Bluetooth zu aktivieren, halten Sie beim Einschalten die Taste MARK (1D) gedrückt.
BATTERIE
Wechseln Sie die Batterien, sobald die Displayanzeige „Batteriekapazität“ (2D) eine leere
Batterie zeigt! Ersetzen Sie immer alle drei Batterien gleichzeitig! Öffnen Sie dazu das
Batteriefach (1H) und achten Sie auf richtiges Einlegen der Batterien.
Halten Sie sich bei der Entsorgung der Batterien an die geltenden Vorschriften Ihres Landes.

Der Hersteller garantiert während zwei Jahren ab Kaufdatum für Verarbeitungs- und
Materialfehler des PIEPS PRO BT/POWDER BT. Ausgenommen sind Batterie, Tragesystem
und Handschlaufe sowie Schäden, entstanden durch falschen Gebrauch (z.B. ausgelaufene
Batterie) oder Zerlegen des Gerätes durch nicht autorisierte Personen. Jede weitergehende

A NOTICE! An avalanche beacon does not protect against avalanches! Detailed
knowledge of avalanche prevention is as indispensable as regularly practicing victim
searches in an emergency. The following procedures and tips relate only to special
usage in conjunction with the PIEPS PRO BT/POWDER BT. The basic line of action in
an emergency – as explained in specialist publications and material from avalanche
courses – must be followed.
A NOTICE! All avalanche beacons are very sensitive to electrical and magnetic sources
of interference. Due to this, all manufacturers recommend keeping a minimum
distance from electronic, magnetic and metallic sources of interference (mobile
phone, radio, keys, magnetic closures, etc.): Minimum distance in send mode: 20 cm |
Minimum distance in search mode: 50 cm
A DANGER! Risk of device loss. Always carry the device in the included carrying
system! Always leave the device cord-secured!
A DANGER! Risk of a not transmitting device due to enabled Bluetooth. The Bluetooth
mode is supposed for device management and training mode only! Never use the
Bluetooth mode in avalanche terrain!
A DANGER! Risk of device loss during slope angle measurement. Although the PIEPS
PRO BT keeps transmitting while the inclinometer is active, the function should only
be used for training reasons. Never use the inclinometer function in avalanche terrain!
A DANGER! Risk of battery explosion due to improper battery types or damaged
batteries. Risk of incorrect battery capacity reading due to improper battery types.
Only use batteries of type “Alkaline (AAA) LR03 1.5 V or 3x Lithium (AAA) FR03 1.5V“!
The use of Lithium batteries must be confirmed in the PIEPS APP!
A WARNING! Risk of hearing damage due to the high noise level. Never hold the device
directly next to your ear! A minimum distance of 50 cm is recommended.
A CAUTION! Risk of crushing. Be aware of a crushing risk when using the sliders!
A CAUTION! Risk of device malfunction or damage due to extreme temperatures.
Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures outside of the operating limits!
Store the device protected from direct sunlight! Extreme temperatures can result in
malfunction or damage!
A NOTICE! Please note that the device is an electronic device. It cannot therefore be

CARRYING SYSTEM
PIEPS recommends using the included carrying system (3A). In order to protect the beacon’s
display, carry the beacon with its display facing inwards (3B). The transmit control LED (1G) is
visible in the pouch´s window (3C). The included hand-loop (3D) is intended for training purpose.
SWITCHING ON | SELF-CHECK | SEND MODE
Move the slider lock (1C) to the left and the slider (1B) upwards into the position SEARCH. Then
release the slider lock (1C) and move the slider (1B) downwards, until it locks in the position
SEND.
The display shows firmware version, battery capacity, self-check progress (4A), self-check
result (4B), group check countdown (4C) and finally the send display with the active transmit-
ting antenna (4D).
The device is now in send mode, the transmit control LED (1G) is blinking.
SEND SEARCH
Move the slider lock (1C) to the left and the slider (1B) upwards in the position SEARCH.
SEARCH SEND
Move the slider (1B) downwards, until it locks in the position SEND.
SEARCH MODE | SEARCH STRATEGY
SIGNAL SEARCH (5A)
Walk the search strip width in the search area quickly. The recommended search strip width for
the PIEPS PRO BT/POWDER BT is 60 m. The display shows “no signal” (5A1).

COARSE SEARCH (5B)
As soon as a signal is received, follow the direction indication quickly and see if the distance
reading goes down. If the distance reading increases, change your direction by 180°.
• (5B1) go left
• (5B2) go straight ahead
• (5B3) go right
FINE SEARCH (5C)
The direction arrow disappears at a distance reading of 2 m. Look for the point of the lowest
distance reading. Work slowly and on the surface of the snow.
PINPOINTING (5D)
Check the search result by systematic probing. On a hit, leave the probe stuck.
MULTIPLE BURIAL (5E)
A multiple burial is indicated clearly on the display by the number of small human figures (2G, 2H).
Marking is possible from a distance reading of 5 m and is indicated by the MARK symbol (2E).
Press the MARK button (1D) briefly to “hide” the localized transmitter. A successful flagging is
confirmed by a frame around the human figure (2J). The display then indicates the direction/
distance to the next strongest signal inside the receiving range.
GROUP CHECK

The PIEPS PRO BT/POWDER BT provides the feature Auto-Search-to-Send. By default, it is dis-
abled and can be enabled in the PIEPS APP device manager. Once enabled, the device switches
from search mode to send mode automatically after a certain time without motion (burial).

To activate Bluetooth, press the button MARK (1D) while switching on the beacon.
BATTERY
Change the batteries as soon as the battery capacity indication (2D) shows an empty battery.
Always change all three batteries at once! To do so, open the battery compartment (1H) and be
sure to insert the new batteries the right way around.

SYSTÈME DE TRANSPORT
PIEPS recommande d’utiliser le système de transport inclus (3A). Pour protéger l’écran du DVA,
veuillez le transporter écran vers l’intérieur (3B). La LED de contrôle de transmission (1G) est
visible à travers la fenêtre de la pochette (3C). La boucle de main fournie (3D) est conçue à des
fins de formation.
ALLUMER | AUTO-CONTRÔLE | MODE ÉMISSION
Allumer : Faites glisser le verrouillage du curseur (1C) vers la gauche et le curseur (1B) vers le
haut en position RECHERCHE. Ensuite, relâchez le verrouillage du curseur (1C) et déplacez le
curseur (1B) vers le bas jusqu’à ce qu’il se verrouille en position ÉMISSION.
L’écran indique la version du micro-logiciel, la capacité des piles, la progression de l’auto-
contrôle (4A), le résultat de l’auto-contrôle (4B), le compte à rebours du contrôle de groupe (4C)
et enfin l’écran d’émission avec l’antenne de transmission active (4D).
L’appareil est maintenant en mode émission, la LED de contrôle de transmission (1G) clignote.
SEND SEARCH (ÉMISSION RECHERCHE)
Faites glisser le verrouillage du curseur (1C) vers la gauche et le curseur (1B) vers le haut en
position RECHERCHE.
SEARCH SEND (RECHERCHE ÉMISSION)
Déplacez le curseur (1B) vers le bas jusqu’à ce qu’il se verrouille en position ÉMISSION.
MODE RECHERCHE | STRATÉGIE DE RECHERCHE
RECHERCHE DE SIGNAL (5A)
Marchez rapidement dans la zone de recherche. La largeur recommandée pour le PIEPS PRO
BT/POWDER BT est de 60 m. L’écran indique « Pas de signal » (5A1).
RECHERCHE APPROXIMATIVE (5B)
Dès que vous recevez un signal, suivez rapidement la direction indiquée et observez si la dis-
tance affichée diminue. Si la distance augmente, changez de direction à 180°.
• (5B1) allez vers la gauche
• (5B2) allez tout droit
• (5B3) allez vers la droite
RECHERCHE FINE (5C)
La flèche de direction disparaît à une distance inférieure à 2 m. Recherchez l’endroit où la dis-
tance est la plus faible. Travaillez lentement et sur la surface de la neige.
POINTAGE (5D)
Vérifiez les résultats de recherche au moyen d’un sondage systématique. Lors d’un coup réussi
connectez votre sonde.
