3 Intended Purpose
MIRAN DL-P1 is a differential pressure datalogger for measuring and logging of
underpressure in isolated workspaces of asbestos demolition or renovation. The
differential pressure sensor is of flow-through type and therefore very accurate in low
differential pressure and in zero-point. The sensor does not require zero-point
calibration and it is totally independent of operating position.
MIRAN DL-P1 has a built-in alarm led panel which shall blink in case a pre-set alarm
threshold is exceeded. It is also possible to setup beeper alarm, SMS-alarm and email
alarms. Optional external alarm led / beeper (MIRAN ALARM-2) can be connected to
MIRAN DL-P1. The alarm limit can be set to whatever value in measuring instrument
scale (±500 Pa).
MIRAN DL-P1 is designed specifically for the following applications:
Measuring and logging of underpressure in isolated asbestos demolition
workspaces
Measuring and logging of differential pressure in premises
MIRAN DL-P1 should not be used in
Areas at risk of explosion
Diagnostic measurements for medical purposes

Report settings: Datalogs to internal memory or sending via email
More information about these settings in MIRAN Configuration Tool PC-software user
manual.
6.5 Power supply
MIRAN DL-P1 differential pressure logger utilizes a 100-240V, 50/60Hz -> 24V 1A DC
power supply. The instrument also has a 18650-sized LiPo battery for mains power
backup. The instrument can be operated about 12 hours with fully charged battery.

6.6 Connections
Hose connection: A plastic hose with 4/6 mm diameter and 5 m length is
connected to differential pressure sensor inside the
instrument through a cable gland. Do not tighten the cable
gland too much as it will squeeze the hose and reduce the
airflow to the sensor. In case the hose needs to be replaced it
should be done in authorized service. The air vent on the right
side of the instrument allows airflow for the differential
pressure sensor, do not block the air vent.
Power connection: Power supply connection is M12 type 3-wired connector. The
signals in the connector are + (6..24 V), - and unconnected.
External alarm: External alarm connection is M12 type 3-wired connector. The
signals in the connector are + (12 V), - (for LEDs) and – (for
beeper).
USB-connection: USB-connector is standard B-type mini USB-connector. Do not
use USB cables excess of 3 m length.
SIM-card slot: Instrument has an internal micro-SIM type card slot for SIM-
card to be used for data connections.
6. SIM-card
In case you wish to have a cloud based measurement report service contact your dealer.
In case you wish to have SMS and / or data connection without cloud based
measurement report service then follow these steps:
Before placing the SIM-card in the device make sure that the device power is OFF
and power supply is disconnected from mains.
Make sure that the SIM-card PIN code is deactivated.
SIM-card slot is on the main PWB board inside the instrument. To place the card
open the top cover screws (4 pcs) and lift the cover very carefully.
Place the card in the slot according to the picture below.

Operation
.1 Preparing the measurement
MIRAN DL-P1 operation is simple and easy. The instrument is placed outside the isolated
workspace and the end of the hose shall be drawn to the isolated workspace. Seal the
hose inlet so that the air will not flow through it. Connect the power supply to mains
power and switch the instrument on. After the instrument has booted up you can input
the Job ID / name for separating the datalogs more easily. The job ID / name has to be
input within 10 minutes of instrument startup.
.2 Switching the instrument power ON and OFF
Switch the instrument power on and off with the power switch. Note that disconnecting
power supply from mains power will not shut down the instrument since it will start
using battery power. The instrument will operate with battery until battery is empty or
mains power is connected again.
Note that in case the battery is empty the instrument will not start unless the power
supply is connected to mains power.
.3 Job ID / name
MIRAN DL-P1 uses a job ID or name for seprating datalogs from each other so that the
user does not need to write down when the work is started and stopped. This makes it a
lot easier to prepare reports either using cloud report service or USB datalogs. The job
ID / name must be given within 10 minutes of instrument startup, otherwise the datalog
will be saved under the previous job ID / name. (It is also possible to use one job ID /
name all the time and separate datalogs with timestamps)
In cloud based report service you can make the report simply by selecting the job
ID / name from the list.
When using USB datalogs the MIRAN Configuration Tool separates datalogs based
on job ID / name to different files
11/201 Pietiko Oy p. 02 251 4402 [email protected] 13

.4 Alarms / alarm acknowledgement
It is possible to set lot and high threshold limits for alarm and hysteresis values for these
limits. Typically the underpressure limit is set to -5.0 Pa (asbestos demolition
underpressure limit) and in case this threshold limit is exceeded the instrument will
trigger an alarm. The sensitivity of alarm trigger can be adjusted with following
parameters
Measurement result averaging: More averaging filters out fast underpressure limit
violations
Alarm delay: The alarm will be triggered only after the given delay after
underpressure limit violation. In case the measured underpressure returns to right
side of the threshold limit during the alarm delay then there will be no alarm.
MIRAN DL-P1 supports following alarm outputs
Red LED panel in the instrument (always active)
Beeper (can be disabled)
SMS alarm (only with active GSM subscription, can be disabled)
Email alarm (only with active GSM subscription, can be disabled)
MIRAN ALARM-2 external alarm supports following alarm outputs
Red LED panel (always active)
Beeper (can be disabled)
Alarm acknowledgement can be set to either manual or automatic. Automatic
acknowledgement means that the alarm goes off when the differential pressure achieves
target range (including hysteresis). Manual alarm acknowledgement means that the
alarm continues until it is acknowledged by hitting ENTER -key from the touch keypad.

8 Maintenance and Calibration
8.1 Cleaning the instrument
Clean the housing with a moist cloth. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents or solvents.
8.2 Replacing the power supply
Power supply can be detached and replaced in case of damage or fault. New power
supply can be ordered from a dealer.
8.3 Replacing the rechargeable battery
MIRAN DL-P1 has a LiPo-type rechargeable battery. The battery capacity might be
reduced after few years of use so that it cannot withstand long periods of operation.
Battery should be replaced by an authorized dealer.
8.4 Replacing the hose
Hose is connected to the differential pressure sensor through the gland. In case the hose
is damaged it should be replaced by an authorized dealer.
8.5 Calibration
MIRAN DL-P1 differential pressure sensor does not require calibration. However, the
sensor might get blocked by dust or particles in case it is used in very challenging
circumstances. The differential pressure sensor reading can be checked at authorized
dealer.
8.6 Troubleshooting
MIRAN DL-P1 differential pressure datalogger can detect certain malfunctions in the
hardware and report them on display. In case of malfunction switch off the instrument
and detach power supply, and then try to switch on the instrument. If the malfunction
persists contact your dealer. Service should be performed only by an authorized dealer.
