tures.
Safety
Intendeduse
PSENslrestartinterlockisamechanicaladdonmoduleforthesafetygatesystemPSENs
lock.Theaddonmodulepreventsthegatefromclosingandlocking,whencarryingout
maintenanceworkontheplantormachineforexample.
Theaddonmodulemayonlybeactivatedanddeactivatedbyqualifiedpersonnel,whoare
presentwithinthedangerzone.Unauthoriseddeactivationoftheaddonmodulemustbe
preventedbymeansofoneortwopadlocks(forpropertiessee"Technical
details[ 12]").
TheaddonmodulemayonlybeusedwiththefollowingPSENslockproducts:

Theproductsmayonlybeassembled,installed,programmed,commissioned,operated,
maintainedanddecommissionedbycompetentpersons.
Acompetentpersonissomeonewho,becauseoftheirtraining,experienceandcurrentpro
fessionalactivity,hasthespecialistknowledgerequiredtotest,assessandoperatethe
workequipment,devices,systems,plantandmachineryinaccordancewiththegeneral
standardsandguidelinesforsafetytechnology.
Itisthecompany’sresponsibilityonlytoemploypersonnelwho:

Functiondescription
Theaddonmoduleconsistsofasidesection,whichisfittedtothePSENslocksafety
switch.Aleverarmisattachedtothissidesection.Byswivellingthisleverarm90°inthe
directionofthegateframe,theleverarmispositionedbetweentheactuatorandthesafety
switchofthePSENslock,therebypreventingthegatefromclosing.
Theaddonmoduleisdeliveredpreassembledandmaynotbemodified.

Installation
WARNING!
Functionisoverriddenduetotooshortadistanceoraforeignbody
betweensafetyswitchandactuator
Mechanicaltolerancesoranangularoffsetcanreducethedistance
betweensafetyswitchandactuator.Asaresult,theassuredreleasedis
tancemaynotbemaintaineddespitetheaddonmoduleandthesafety
gateisdetectedasclosed.Thiscanresultinseriousbodilyinjuryand
death.
Thedistancebetweensafetyswitchandactuatormustbeatleast15mm
andmaynotcontainanyforeignbodies.
Afterinstallation,checkthatthesafetyswitchdetectsthesafetygateas
openandthatthe"SafetyGate"LEDisextinguishedwhentheaddonmod
uleisactivated(seechapterentitled"Operation").
}Attachthesidesectionusingtheprovidedsocketheadcapscrewswiththecorrespond
ingspringringsonthesafetyswitch.Ifyouwishtopreventtheinstallationfrombeing
manipulated,replaceoneofthesocketheadcapscrewswiththeonewayscrew
provided(seediagram).
}Fastenthescrewswithatorquesettingof5.5Nm+/0.5Nmandprotectthescrews
fromworkingloosewithathreadlocker(e.g.Loctite2700).
}Complywiththemaximumlateraloffsetfortheactuator,asstatedintheoperating
manualforthePSENslock.

Potentiallossofsafetyfunctionduetoaddonmodulebeingunactivated
andunsecured
Iftheaddonmoduleisnotactivatedcorrectlyandnotsecuredwiththepad
lock,thesafetygatecanbeclosedunintentionallyandtheplant/machine
canstartup.Thiscanresultinseriousbodilyinjuryanddeath.
Beforeenteringthedangerzone,checkthattheguardlockingdevicehas
clickedintoplacecorrectlyandissecuredwiththepadlock.
Theaddonmoduleisnowreadyforuseandcanbeactivatedbyfollowingthestepsbelow.
}Pulltheknobandrotatetheleverarm90°betweenthesafetyswitchandactuator(see
diagram).Makesurethattheleverarmlocksintothe90°position.
}Attachapadlocktotheleverarm.Amaximumoftwopadlocksarepossible.
Thegateisnotsafelypreventedfromclosingandlockinguntilboththesestepsarecom
pleted.

allyandtheplant/machinecanstartup.Thiscanresultinseriousbodilyin
juryanddeath.
Donotenterthedangerzoneiftheaddonmoduleshowssignsofdamage.
Exchangetheaddonmoduleandcheckthatitfunctionscorrectlybeforere
turningittoservice.
