SELF-CLEANING & NO MAINTENANCE
The PlasmaPURE AutoClean 1500 is a self-cleaning needlepoint ionizer that
produces positive and negative ions that neutralize harmful pollutants and
odors in the home. This compact self-cleaning unit automatically removes
dust and dirt build-up on the needles eliminating the need for maintenance.
It can be easily mounted at the fan inlet of almost any air handling system
including residential air conditioners, furnaces, mini-splits, fan coil units and
VRF systems. The AutoClean 1500 is self-contained in a plastic enclosure
which has molded tabs with mounting holes. Unit accepts 12V DC or
24V AC without the use of an external power supply device.
MECHANICAL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
GENERAL MOUNTING CRITERIA:
1. Do not connect to power before mechanical installation is complete.
2. Mount ionization unit to allow for future access.
3. Mount the unit at or near the fan inlet using the slots in the mounting
tabs, insuring that the air flows over the two recessed needlepoint
electrodes simultaneously. Short sheet metal screws should be used to
mount the ionizer to the fan casing. See Figures 1 & 2.
4. The unit should be mounted downstream of the filter.
5. For best results avoid locations directly downstream of a cooling coil or
humidifier.

ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: Do not connect to power before installation is complete.
Always disconnect power to the unit before handling the ionizer.
1. All field wiring to be in accordance with the National Electric Code and
authorities having jurisdiction.
2. Connect power to ionizer using appropriate voltage per the following:
12V DC or 24V AC. See Figure 3.
3. Connect power wires to power inlet fitting by pressing the orange tab
firmly, inserting the appropriate wire, then releasing the orange tab.
Repeat as necessary for the other wires. Strip wire insulation as
necessary.
4. For best results interlock ionizer power with fan relay.
5. Apply power to the unit. Confirm that the green LED indicator light
illuminates indicating that the ionizer is functioning properly.
OPERATION
1. When power is supplied to the ionizer, the ionizer will be activated. The
green ion indicator light will illuminate.
2. The ionization unit is self balancing and does not require any type of
adjustment.
3. Self-cleaning frequency is factory set at once-per-day. To change this
frequency, contact Plasma Air for factory programming.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If the unit is not working, check the following:
1. The supply fan is running, and that the green LED illuminates.
2. Check the power input connections to the ionization unit. Verify all
connections are correct and tightened. Reconnect any loose wires as
necessary.
