Thebalancerisusedinavehicleexhaustextractionsystemto
keeptheexhausthosefromtheground,therebyminimising
theriskofdamagetothehoseandsurroundings.Theratchet
lockintheBRLtypeskeepsthehoseinacertainposition.
3 SAFETY

Theproducthasbeendesignedexclusivelyforholdingand
liftingavehicleexhausthose.
1.“Intendeduse”asexplainedinEN-ISO12100-1istheuseforwhichthe
technicalproductissuitedasspeciedbythemanufacturer,inclusiveofhis
directionsinthesalesbrochure.Incaseofdoubtitistheusewhichcanbe
deducedfromtheconstruction,themodelandthefunctionofthetechnical
productwhichisconsiderednormaluse.Operatingthemachinewithinthe
limitsofitsintendedusealsoinvolvesobservingtheinstructionsintheuser
manual.
Usingtheproductforotherpurposesisconsideredcontraryto
itsintendeduse.Themanufactureracceptsnoliabilityforany
damageorinjuryresultingfromsuchuse.Theproducthas
beenbuiltinaccordancewithstate-of-the-artstandardsand
recognisedsafetyregulations.Onlyusethisproductwhenin
technicallyperfectconditioninaccordancewithitsintended

Installation
- Usesufcientclimbinggearandsafetyguardswhenworking
onahigherlevelthan2meter(localrestrictionsmayapply).
Use
- Inspecttheproductandcheckitfordamage.Verifythe
functioningofthesafetyfeatures.
- Protecttheproductagainstwaterandhumidity.
Service, maintenance and repairs
- Observethemaintenanceintervalsgiveninthismanual.
Overduemaintenancecanleadtohighcostsforrepairand
revisionsandcanrendertheguaranteenullandvoid.
- Duringservice,maintenanceandrepairjobs,alwaysuse
PersonalProtectiveEquipment(PPE)toavoidinjury.This
alsoappliesforpersonswhoentertheworkarea.
- Safetyfeatureswhichhavebeenremovedforservice,
maintenanceorrepairs,mustbeputbackimmediatelyafter
nishingthesejobsanditmustbecheckedthattheystill
functionproperly.
- Usesufcientclimbinggearandsafetyguardswhenworking
onahigherlevelthan2meter(localrestrictionsmayapply).
- Makesurenovehiclecanenterthebay/stationswhen
carryingoutservice,maintenanceorrepairs.
4 INSTALLATION
4.1 Tools and requirements
Thefollowingtoolsandrequirementsareneededtoinstallthe
product:
- wrench(metricsizes8-10)
- powercutter(incaseoflockingcable)
- spanner(jawsize24)
4.2 Mounting
Thebalancercanbemountedtothefollowingdevices:
- trolleyofSBTsystem
- trolleyofSTRsystem
- xedmountingdevice
IncaseofSBTandSTRsystems,thebalancerisprovidedwith
alockingcable,thathastobecuttotheappropriatelength.
Refertothemanualofthecorrespondingsystemaboutthe
requiredlengthofthelockingcable.

Makesurethesafetychainconnectionisstrong
enoughtoholdtheweightoftheentire
conguration.
4.3 Functioning and setting
Thebalancerisfactory-wisedeliveredatapre-tensionof3
revolutions.Itneedstobeadjustedtoitsnaltensionwhen
theentireinstallationisready.Dependingontheinstallation,
therearetwopossibilities:
- pre-tensionisOK
- springtensionneedstobeincreased
• Checkifthebalanceriscapableofholdingandliftingthe
connectedhose.Ifnot,increasethespringtensionas
follows.
