How to install a back rest on a Martini

The tools needed for instalation are:
Drill with 5,5mm drill bit
#10 spanner
Flat screw driver
Scissors
The backrest package should include:
1 Plastic backband
1 Point65 backrest No 2B
2 x Screw JIS-M6x25mm
2 x 6mm washers
2x 6mm nut
5,5mm shock cord
Measure the distance from the bulkhead on the side
of the kayak as on the image above. Make sure the
holw is centered. Do it again on the other side.
The drill should go though both layers of the cockpit
Use a 6mm drill to make the hole on each side of
the cockpit.
Prepare the backrest by pushing the backband
though the posket on the back of the back rest. Make
sure the plastic back band has the nice side forward.

Push the screw from the inside of the cokpit into the
plastic backbands outermost hole and though the
drilled hole on the cockpit rim.
Drill 3/4” holes on the inside lip of the cockpit rim -
DO NOT DRILL THROUGH THE OUTER RIM - or it will
leak into the kayak through the holes!!!
The holes should be equally wide apart from the
center line of the kayak.
Fasten the nut with a washer between the nut and
kayak. Don’t pull too tight, but make sure the screw
reaches the blue plastic locking thread on the nut.
Pull the shock cord through the loops in the back of
the back rest and through the holes in the cockpit.
tie the ends together behind the backrest and cut off
recess cord.
