Tilting Arbor Saw OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
FOREWORD
This manual has been prepared for the owner and operators
of
a Powermatic tilting arbor circular saw.
In order
to
obtain maximum life and efficiency from
your
Powermatic saw and
to
aid in operating the saw with
safety, read the manual thoroughly and follow all instructions carefully.
The specifications listed were in effect when the manual was published. However, because
of
Powermatic's pol-
iey
of
continuous improvement, Powermatic reserves the right
to
change specifications
at
any time without in-
curring obligations.
WARRANTY
This machine
and
its
component
parts have been carefully inspected
and
performance tested
at
various
stages
of
production
and each finished machine
is
subjected
to
a final inspection before
shipment
.
We
a-
gree
that
for
a period
of
eighteen (18)
months
from
date
of
delivery from
our
authorized
dealer
to
re-
place,
at
our
option,
any machine (or
component
part
thereof) proving defective within the above period,
F.O.
B.
our
plant, providing such machine (or
component
part)
is
returned
prepaid
to
our
plant,
or
a des-
ignated service
center
of
the
undersigned,
for
our
examination.
This
warranty
does
not
include repair
or
repla
cement
required because
of
misuse, abuse,
or
because
of
normal wear
and
tear;
or
electrical
motors
and electrical
components
which are warranteed by their
manufacturer
and which
should
be taken
to
their
local
authorized
repair
station
for service. Further, we
cannot
be responsible
for
the
cost
of
repairs
made
or
attempted
outside
of
our
factory
or
designated service
center
without
our
authorization.
No
claims
for
defects
will
be
honored
if
Serial No. plate has been removed. This
warranty
is
made expressly
in
place
of
all
other
warranties
or
guarantees, express
or
implied, with respect
to
fitness, merchantability,
quality
or
oper
ativeness. This warranty becomes effective only when the accompanying card
is
fully and
properly filled
out
and
returned
to
the
factory
within
ten
(10) days from
date
of
delivery.

SAFETY RULES
A safety rules decal
is
installed on each machine
as
a reminder
of
basic rules
to
be followed
but
is
not
intended
to negate the reading and understanding
of
this manual.
1. Read and understand the operations manual's safety and operating instructions. Know the limitations
and hazards associated with this machine.
2.
Be
sure the machine frame
is
electrically grounded.
3.
Remove
or
fasten.loose articles
of
clothing such
as
a necktie, long sleeves,
or
coat, and confine long hair.
Do
not
wear gloves.
4.
Remove jewelry such
as
finger rings, watches, and bracelets.
5.
Wear
a safety face shield, goggles, or glasses
to
protect
eyes and wear
other
personal protective equipment
such
as
ear protectors as required. Protective type
foot
wear should be worn.
6.
Keep
the
floor around the machine clean and free from scraps, sawdust, oil
or
grease
to
minimize the dan-
ger
of
slipping. Powermatic recommends the use
of
an anti-skid floor strip on the floor area where the
operator normally stands,
and
marking
off
a work area for each machine.
7.
When setting up the machine for any job, check the saw blade
or
cutter
for cracks or missing teeth. Do
not
use a cracked or dull blade
or
one with missing teeth or improper set. Make sure the blade or
cutter
is
securely locked on the arbor. Check the alignment
of
the splitter and fence. Make sure the fence or fix-
ture
is
locked and
that
the table
is
free
of
tools and material except
the
stock
to
be cut. 4
NOTE: A caution decal
is
installed on each guard and splitter assembly
to
warn against the hazard
of
misalignment. (See p.13 for instructions on alignment.)
