1. Readandunderstandtheoperations
manual'ssafetyandoperating
instructions.Know thelimitations
andhazards
associated
with thismachine.
Besure
themachineframe
iselectricallygrounded.
Rernove
or fastenloosearticlesof clothing
suchasanecktie,longsleeves,or coat,and
confine
longhair.
Donot wear
gloves.
Remove
jewelrysuchasfingerrings,
watches,andbracelets.
Weara safetytaceshield,
goggles,
or glassesto protect eyesandwear other personalprotective equipment
suchasear
protectors
as
required. Protective
type foot wear
shouldbeworn.
Keepthe floor around the machinecleanandfree from scraps,
sawdust,oil or greaseto minimize the dan-
gerof slipping. Powermaticrecommendsthe use
of ananti-skidfloor strip on the floor area
wherethe
operator normally stands,andmarking off a work areafor each
machine.
Whensettingup the machinefor anyjob, checkthe saw
bladeor cutter for cracksor missingteeth. Do
not use
acrackedor dull biadeor onewith missingteeth or improper set. Make surethe bladeor cutter
issecurelylocked on the arbor. Checkthe alignmentof the splitter andfence. Make surethe fenceor fix-
ture islocked andthat the table isfree of tools andmaterialexceptthe stock to becut.
NOTE: A caution decalis installedon each
guardand splitter assemblyto warn againstthe hazard
of misalignment. (See
p.l3 for instructions on alignment.)
