Congratulations on your purchase of a Powr-Flite Piranha
PF2028 wide area vacuum. Your new wide area vac comes com-
plete with a 20 foot hose with an attached wand, floor tool,
crevice tool and dusting tool. Read this entire manual before
operating the PF2028 vacuum.
Unpacking Your New Equipment
All of our products are packaged with care, but damage can hap-
pen during shipment. All cartons should be inspected upon
receipt for both outwards and concealed damage. Any damage is
the responsibility of the freight carrier and should be reported
immediately. Shipping damage is not warranted. It is your
responsibility to issue a claim and to receive compensation from
the freight carrier for any damage done in transit. To expedite any
potential claim, do not sign for a shipment until you have verified
the carton count and completed a preliminary inspection for dam-
age. Only sign for the order as a damaged shipment. Keep both
the shipping container, packing contents and product for inspec-
tion or pick-up. Report damage to our customer service depart-
ment. Claims must be made within 30 days of shipment.
Open box and remove all tools and other loose items.
Tip box over so that the machine stands on its rear side
Roll the machine out of the box.
LIMITED WARRANTY
This product is warranted to be free of defects in workmanship or
materials for one year from date of sale. Liability under this war-
ranty is limited to repairing or replacing, any part deemed defec-
tive by Powr-Flite. No warranty, expressed or implied, including
implied warranties of merchantability of fitness for a particular
purpose, other than the above is made or authorized by Powr-
Flite.
WHAT THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT INCLUDE: This warranty
shall not be in effect if the product has been subject to misuse,
abuse, negligence, theft, loss, or accident; or if the product has
been repaired or altered in such a manner as to affect its original
design. This warranty does not cover replacement of non-
approved Powr-Flite parts or parts inoperative because of wear
occasioned by use, nor does it cover the cost of parts or labor
incurred without prior factory authorization. This Warranty does
not cover the free adjustment of any product or part if such was
improperly adjusted or altered by the purchaser.
Under no circumstances will Powr-Flite be liable for incidental or
consequential damages based on any breach of this Limited
Warranty.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
This manual is to ensure that the PF2028 is operated correctly.
All operators must read, understand and practice the following
safety instructions.
CAUTION: Make sure motor and fan have come to a
complete stop and cord plug removed from
wall outlet before servicing cleaner.
CAUTION: When unattended, never leave cleaner running or
cord plugged into receptacle.
CAUTION: When running, keep fingers, hair or loose clothing
away from intake suction ports, nozzle of
revolving brush.
CAUTION: Replace damaged or worn parts with genuine
original equipment parts in order to maintain
safety and to protect your limited warranty.
CAUTION: Never vacuum live ashes, cigars, cigarette butts
or matches.
CAUTION: Never run over power cord or place sharp
objects on it.
CAUTION: Never close door on the cord or snag it under
furniture or doors.
CAUTION: When disconnecting power cord, grasp the
plug – not the cord. Do not use cord to pull
cleaner around.
CAUTION: Don’t use in an enclosed space where flammable,
explosive, aerosol spray products, or toxic materials
are stored or used, or where vapors from such
materials may be present.
CAUTION: Do not use where oxygen or anesthetics are used.
CAUTION: Do not use the cleaner to pick up hard or sharp
objects such as coins, pins, nails, etc. as they
may damage the cleaner or filter bag.
CAUTION: Do not plug cleaner into a table lamp or light fixture.
CAUTION: Do not move electric lamps or office equipment
while touching the cleaner.
CAUTION: Never vacuum liquids.
CAUTION: Never vacuum floors, rugs or carpets that are wet.
CAUTION: Do not store outdoors.
CAUTION: Replace worn cord sets immediately.
CAUTION: Do not reach for cleaner that has fallen into water.
Unplug cord immediately from socket.
CAUTION: Do not use cleaner around electronic safety devices
or computers when they are in use. The magnetic
field of the cleaner motor may affect their
operations.
CAUTION: Keep cord away from heated surfaces.

Grounding Instructions
This cleaner must be grounded. In the event of an electri-
cal short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of electric
shock by providing an escape wire for the electric current.
This cleaner is equipped with a cord having a grounding
wire with an appropriate grounding plug. The plug must be
plugged into an outlet that is properly installed and ground-
ed in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
DANGER: Improper use of the grounding plug can result
in a risk of electric shock.
If repair or replacement of the cord or plug is necessary,
do not connect the grounding wire to either flat blade ter-
minal. The wire with insulation having an outer surface that
is green or without yellow stripes is the grounding wire.
Check with a qualified electrician or serviceman if the
grounding instructions are not completely understood, or if
in doubt as to whether the cleaner is properly grounded.
Do not modify the plug provided, if it will not fit the outlet,
have the proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician.
Do not cut the ground pin off of the male plus.
This cleaner is for use on a normal 120 volt circuit and has
a grounding plug that looks like the plug illustrated in
sketch A. If a properly grounded outlet is not available, a
temporary adapter which looks like the adapter illustrated
in sketches B and C may be used to connect this plug to a
2 pole receptacle as shown in sketch B. The temporary
adapter should be used only until a properly grounded out-
let (sketch A) can be installed by a qualified electrician.
The rigid ear or lug extending from the adapter must be
connected to a permanent ground such as a properly
grounded outlet box. Whenever the adapter is used, it
must be held in place by the metal screw.
If it is necessary to use an extension cord, use only a
three wire extension cord that has a three blade grounding
plug and a three slot receptacle that will accept the plug of
the appliance. Replace or repair a damaged cord.
Operating Instructions
The wide area vacuum has been designed to efficiently
clean large areas, carpet and hard surface floors. In areas
where more than average dirt is present, it is recommend-
ed that a second pass be made over the carpet without
turning the machine around. Backing the machine up will
lift the carpet nap and help in removing heavy dirt or sand.

Tools
1. Check to see that all tools are present and in place.
Brush Sensor System
The Brush Sensor Control Center lights will indicate when
the brush height is in the correct place for the carpet being
cleaned. The IDEAL light will come on when the brush
height is adjusted properly. The LOWER light is lit when
the brush height is too high. Lower the brush height by
moving the Brush Roll Height Adjustment Knob away from
you or down. If the brush height is too low, the RAISE light
will light. Raise the brush height by moving the Brush Roll
Height Adjustment Knob towards you or up.
2. Adjust the brush height for the surface being cleaned.
• Start the brush height adjustment lever as far back
as it will go (storage position).
• Turn machine on with brush lever on.
• Incrementally lower the brush until the brush
bristles rotate on the “top” of the carpet fiber and the
green brush indicator remains on.
• Listen for an audible change in the tone when the
brush bristles connect.

Operating Instructions
Caution: When changing the height of the
push-handle for use or storage, the thumb-screws
must be loosened before lifting the handle.

Replacing the Vacuum Bag
1. Remove the vacuum bag and discard. It is
recommended that the bag be checked after each
use and replaced as required.
Routine Care and Replacing the Filters
1. Remove the high filtration or HEPA filter and discard.
Filters should be replaced every 200 hours of use.
2. The motor filter is located on the back of the vacuum.
To replace the motor filter remove the 4 screws holding
the cover in place. Remove the filter and replace. The
motor filter should be replaced every 100 hours of use.
Emptying the Debris Collector
1. Remove the debris collector and clean thoroughly.
Replace. The debris collector should be cleaned at
the end of each shift on a daily basis.
Replacing the Brush Cassette
1. Remove side cover plate brush drive (4 bolts).
2. Loosen bolts from belt tensioner.
3. Remove cover plate (B) (4 bolts).
4. Remove brush cassette (5 bolts).
5. Replace brush cassette.
Replacing the Brush Motor
1. Remove side cover plate brush drive (4 bolts).
2. Loosen bolts with washer A from belt tensioner.
3. Remove brush motor base plate by removing
bolts (C).
4. Loosen power cord.
5. Remove brush motor and replace with new one.
Adjust Belt Tension
1. Use a screwdriver between the shaft of the brush
motor and the pin on the belt tensioner.
