The DEQ624 combines a dual 31-band graphic EQ and dynamics
processing unit in a compact 2U chassis. Utilizing 24-bit encoding
for accurate processing of analog signals, each channel
of the DEQ624 features 31 digital EQ encoders which
are centered in 1/3rd octave increments from 20Hz to
20kHz.
Each channel also offers separate high and low-pass filters, an
expander, and a peak limiter. Additional functions include Hi-Q
select, which reduces the effect of any center frequency being
cut or boosted on adjacent frequencies. Range controls offer a
choice of +6/-6, +12/-12 or +12/-24dB settings and a hard bypass
switch is also provided.
The DEQ624 also features AHC – Adaptive Hum Cancellation –
which is very effective in minimizing unwanted 50/60Hz system
hum commonly caused by electrical grounding problems. To
prevent unwanted tampering with the settings, a user defined
Security Lock code for the front panel is provided along with four
user-definable presets.

DEQ624 Signal Path
High Pass/Low Pass Filter
Each channel provides a separate High-Pass and
Low-Pass Filter to allow for the fine-tuning of a
frequency range to be affected by the individual
graphic band controls.
Expander/Gate
Both channels provide an Expander/Gate with
control over threshold and ratio. This feature
allows for a sound system that is idle to be
virtually noise free and perfectly quiet. The
Expander can be set to effectively cancel out all
system hum and hiss when no program material
is present or being played.
Peak Limiter
The DEQ624 has a separate peak limiter for each
channel with a variable threshold to provide
system protection from sudden and sharp
transients as well as the occasional slow rise-
time peak that would cause a system or speaker
to distort or worse, blow a speaker or amplifier.
There is a separate Gain knob that is a 0db
detent potentiometer that provides for a 20dB
cut or boost for gain make-up after the limiter.
Multi Range Cut/Boost
The Range button allows the user to choose
between three different fader resolutions or
‘range’ of operation; +6/-6dB, +12/-12dB or
+12/-24dB. LED’s provide a visual reference for
which Range is selected. Since many rooms need
problematic frequencies ‘cut’, having the ability
to cut a frequency by up to 24dB is a very
worthwhile tool.
Narrow Q Select
The DEQ624 provides a Narrow-Q Select that
gives the user the ability to essentially ‘notch-
out’ a problem frequency with a very narrow
bandwidth, leaving adjacent frequencies
unaffected by drastic cuts. An LED below each
frequency gives the user a visual reference on
which frequencies the Narrow-Q is selected.
Channel A Master
The DEQ624’s powerful DSP engine allows
PreSonus to program capabilities into the unit
that truly set it apart from any other graphic
equalizer. A lighted button labeled Channel A
Master provides a copy function to Channel B.
Any settings on channel A are mirrored by
channel B. This provides for a very quick set up
of stereo systems in live sound reinforcement
scenarios.
Security / Store-Preset
The Store/Security button gives the end user
the ability to lock out the front panel controls
after the desired settings have been achieved
with a user defined code. This makes the DEQ624
very valuable as a permanently installed system
equalizer. The Preset Button allows for the
storage and recall of up to four different settings.
This feature opens up a whole new way of
thinking about graphic equalizers. For instance
for a musical group that plays a ‘circuit’ of clubs
or rooms, each room’s corrective EQ can be
stored to a preset and recalled in an instant.
Many times a room’s corrective EQ has to be
changed from when it is empty at sound check
to when it fills with people for the performance.
This adjustment can be made and recalled with
the toggle of a button. Another application for
the preset is in recording studio control rooms
that use several pairs of monitor speakers.
Different speakers have different characteristics
depending upon where they are placed in a room
in relation to other speakers. No one EQ curve
will work for two or more pair of monitor speakers.
The DEQ624 can store the EQ curve for your
near-fields, mid-field and far-field monitors. So
as you do comparative listening, you can rest
assured that what you hear from your speaker
is as accurate as possible.
AHC (Adaptive Hum Cancellation)
PreSonus is proud to be a leader, pioneering
innovative technologies. Adaptive Hum
Cancellation (AHC) is an algorithm that detects
fundamental 60-cycle system hum and buzzes
and harmonic residual higher frequency content
and cancels it by creating a 180-degree out of
phase mirror of the offending frequencies. The
audio in this frequency range is virtually
unaffected by AHC.
Connectors and Power
The DEQ624 back panel is totally analog:
balanced XLR, TRS and Terminal Strips provide
the connections in and out of the unit. The power
supply is internally mounted.

DEQ624
The DEQ624 is a two channel DSP based 31-band graphic equalizer (20Hz to 20kHz). The DEQ624
is a powerful EQ system that presents itself with familiar analog styling. However, all control and
processing is achieved digitally. Being digitally controlled, the DEQ624 provides valuable tools that
cannot be achieved in an analog device.
