01. Scope of Delivery

• 6 m of fog hose (synthetic material DN 50) with1 x
Storz connector © and 1 x filling spout.
• 5-litre canister of fog fluid.
1.2. Optional accessories
• Robust carry case designed especially for the FS 100.
• Combustor and coloured smoke cartridges for fire
simulations.
• Additional 5-litre canister of fog fluid.
• Telescopic guide rod (up to 6 m) with quick-locking
device.
02. Safety Notes
2.1. General information
• Fog can activate smoke detectors!
• Do not drink or swallow the fog fluid! Keep out of
reach of children!
• Do not open any unit that is connected to a mains
supply and do not leave unsupervised!
2.2. Instructions when using the FS 100
• The device may NOT be placed in a location that is
either flammable, combustible or heat sensitive.
• The unit may only be placed on a firm and even
surface that is large enough to support the device.
• A distance of at least 1 metre must be kept to any
flammable or heat-sensitive object.
• Glycols are alcohols, which is why the flame they
produce is light bluish and almost invisible to the
naked eye. NEVER allow fog to come into contact
with ignition sources like open fires, for example!
• Hot steam comes out of the fog opening! Danger!
Risk of burns!
• NEVER touch or go near the fog exit opening when
the simulator is in operation!
• Sometimes very hot fluid droplets can be dischar-
ged from the fog exit opening when the device is in
operation. Warning! Keep a safe distance of at least
3 metres to the unit!
2.3. Important information when using emergency
power units
• Any emergency power units (EPUs) that you wish to
connect to the device must have a nominal output of
at least 2 kVA (230 V) and should be checked prior to
putting the simulator into operation to ensure that
they are in perfect working condition.
• The emergency power unit must be brought to ope-
rating temperature free of any load for approx. 1 - 2
minutes (depending on the EPU) before the fog simu-
lator is connected.
• Only then will the fog simulator operate as it was
designed to do.

04. Fog Fluid
4.1. General
• Only use fog fluid from the manufacturer!
• Do not drink or swallow and keep out of the reach
children! Danger!
• Fog fluid has a glycol basis and is therefore easily
inflammable!
4.2. Changing the canister
• Pull back the catch sleeve (5) to release the nozzle
(4).
• Remove the empty canister (8) from the bracket.
• Remove the canister lid (6) from the empty canister
and place on the full canister.
• Place the full canister in the bracket.
• Push the nozzle firmly back into the hose connection.
05. Operating the Unit
5.1. Selecting a location
The location in which you wish to operate your fog
simulator must:
• be vibration-free and shock-proof.
• have a non-inflammable surface.
• be situated where there is enough fresh air.
• have a surrounding temperature between 5°C and
45°C.
• have a relative humidity below 80%.

m The fog from the unit’s outlet is very hot and
can cause the hose to melt if the device is not
used properly. In order to avoid heat from
building up directly behind the opening where
the fog emerges please ensure that there are
no kinks in the first meter of hose and that the
hose runs in a straight line from the unit!
5.2. Operating the unit
• Be sure to follow the advice for emergency power ge-
nerators (see item 2.3.)!
• The mains plug (10) must be connected to a Schuko
socket (230 V/50 Hz).
• A dot will appear in the bottom right-hand corner of the
plastic foil keypad (0).
• Press “ON” to power on the unit. The blower fan will
run in idle.
• The green LEDs light up to indicate that fog generator
is ready to use after approx. 7 min (warm-up phase).
• Press the + and – keys to select air and fog volume
settings from 1 – 10.
5.3. Powering off
• Switch the device to fog volume setting “0” at the end
of the procedure and allow to cool off for 5 minutes.
The induced ventilation (at air volume setting “0”) is
perfectly sufficient.
• Press “OFF” to switch off the device.
• Remove the plug from the mains socket.
m Do NOT switch the unit off and do NOT disconnect
the unit from the mains power supply imme-
diately after use!
The generator needs to cool down for at least
5 minutes after each use! The remains of the
fog fluid are removed from the burning chamber
during this pressure cooling phase in order
to prevent any condensation damage from
occurring.
06. Cleaning and Maintenance
6.1. Cleaning and maintenance
• The blue filter mats (9) must be cleaned and re-
placed when necessary. This depends on the level
of contamination and the amount of wear and tear
that they have been subjected to.
• Please make sure that the fog device does not run
without fluid. This can seriously damage the pump.
m Use original FS-100 fog fluid from TROTEC
only. Other fluids, including non-approved fluids
like those used in discotheques for example,
can contain a higher proportion of water
which can cause sooting in the burning
chamber, which in turn can severely damage
your product!
• Turn the condensate drain plug (3) to drain off any
condensate that many have formed around the fog
exit opening (1).
• Use solvent-free cleaning agents only.
6.2. Storage
• The FS 100 can be stored in the optionally available
carry case.
• Be sure to select a safe and dry storage place, espe-
cially when storing over longer periods.
• Keep out of the reach of children! Make sure that the
fog device is stored in a safe place!

07. Troubleshooting
Faults Possible Causes
The FS 100 fails to
produce fog.
Check power supply and
make sure that the device is
properly connected.
Check the filling level of the
fog fluid.
Check to make sure that the
canister is leak tight.
Check the Sinter filter for
contamination.
The device makes
loud humming
noises when fog is
being produced.
The pump is running dry.
Please avoid at all costs!
Fill up with fog fluid.
Check hose connections
and make sure that they are
locked in place.
