1 Safety
1.1 Action-related warnings
Classification of action-related warnings
The action-related warnings are classified in
accordance with the severity of the possible
danger using the following warning signs and
signal words:

1.2 Intended use
There is a risk of injury or death to the user or
others, or of damage to the product and other
property in the event of improper use or use
for which it is not intended.
The product is intended as a heat generator
for closed heating installations and for hot
water generation.
Intended use includes the following:
–observance of the operating instructions
included for the product and any other
installation components
–compliance with all inspection and main-
tenance conditions listed in the instruc-
tions.
This product can be used by children aged
from 8 years and above and persons with
reduced physical, sensory or mental capabil-
ities or lack of experience and knowledge if
they have been given supervision or instruc-
tion concerning use of the product in a safe
way and understand the hazards involved.
Children must not play with the product.
Cleaning and user maintenance work must
not be carried out by children unless they are
supervised.
Any other use that is not specified in these
instructions, or use beyond that specified in
this document, shall be considered improper
use. Any direct commercial or industrial use
is also deemed to be improper.
Caution.
Improper use of any kind is prohibited.
1.3 General safety information
1.3.1 Danger caused by improper
operation
Improper operation may present a danger to
you and others, and cause material damage.
▶Carefully read the enclosed instructions
and all other applicable documents, par-
ticularly the "Safety" section and the warn-
ings.
▶Only carry out the activities for which in-
structions are provided in these operating
instructions.
1.3.2 Risk of death due to changes to the
product or the product environment
▶Never remove, bridge or block the safety
devices.
▶Do not tamper with any of the safety
devices.
▶Do not damage or remove any tamper-
proof seals on components.
▶Do not make any changes:
–The product itself
–The water and electricity supply lines
–to the expansion relief valve
–to the drain pipework
–to constructional conditions that may
affect the operational reliability of the
product
1.3.3 Risk of death due to lack of safety
devices
A lack of safety devices (e.g. expansion relief
valve, expansion vessel) can lead to poten-
tially fatal scalding and other injuries, e.g. due
to explosions.
▶Ask a competent person to explain how
the safety devices work and where they
are located.

due to maintenance and repairs

▶Never attempt to carry out maintenance
work or repairs on your product yourself.
▶Faults and damage should be immediately
rectified by a competent person.
▶Adhere to the maintenance intervals spe-
cified.
1.3.5 Risk of material damage caused by
frost
▶Ensure that the heating installation always
remains in operation during freezing con-
ditions and that all rooms are sufficiently
heated.
▶If you cannot ensure the operation, have a
competent person drain the heating install-
ation.
1.3.6 Risk of material damage caused by
leaking hot water pipes
▶If leaks occur in the area of the hot water
pipes between the product and the draw-
off points, close the cold water stop valve
that is installed on-site.
▶Have your competent person show you the
location of the cold water stop valve.
1.3.7 Risk of material damage caused
by insufficient filling pressure in the
heating installation
Operating the system with an insufficient wa-
ter volume may cause subsequent damage to
the system.
▶Check the filling pressure in the heating
installation at regular intervals.
▶Observe the information on the heating
installation's filling pressure (→Page 8).

3.4 CE marking
The CE marking shows that the products comply with the
basic requirements of the applicable directives as stated on
the data plate.
The declaration of conformity can be viewed at the manufac-
turer's site.
4 Operation
Warning.
Risk of being scalded by hot water.
Incorrectly set water temperatures and hot
water in the lines can lead to scalding.
▶Check the water temperature with your
hand.
Adjustable values are always displayed as flashing.
You must always confirm a change to a value. Only then is
the new setting saved.
4.1 Cabinet-type casing
Enclosing the product in cabinet-type casing requires compli-
ance with the applicable design instructions.
If you require cabinet-type casing for your product, consult
a heating specialist company. Never, under any circum-
stances, enclose the product yourself.
4.2 Opening the isolator devices
1. Ask the competent person who installed the product to
explain to you where these isolator devices are located
and how to handle them.
2. Open the service valves in the heating installation's flow
and return.
Condition: Product with integrated hot water generation or connected do-
mestic hot water cylinder
▶Open the cold water stop valve.
4.3 Starting up the product
▶Only start up the product once the casing has been com-
pletely closed.
4.4 Switching on the product
▶Ensure that the power supply to the product has been
established.
–The product is switched on as soon as it is connected
to the power mains. The current heating flow temper-
ature is shown in the display.
Note
To ensure that the frost-protection and mon-
itoring equipment remain active, you should
switch the product on and off via an optional
controller. Ask your competent person for de-
tails.
4.5 Selecting the operating mode
Note
Every time the product switches on, it starts in the
previously selected operating mode.
▶Press repeatedly until the display shows the re-
quired operating mode.

4.6 Setting the heating flow temperature
1. Press the or ( ) button.
◁The set heating flow temperature flashes in the
display.
Condition: No control connected
▶Use the button and the button to set the required
heating flow temperature.
Condition: Control connected
▶Set the required heating flow temperature on the control
(→Control operating instructions).

The heat curve represents the relationship between the out-
door temperature and the target flow temperature.
The heat curve can only be set if an outdoor temperature
sensor is installed.
Selecting the correct heat curve determines the efficiency
and comfort of the heating installation. If the heat curve is
set too high, the heating installation generates excessive
temperatures and therefore stimulates increased energy
consumption. If the heat curve is set too low, the desired
temperature level is only reached after a long time or it may
not be reached at all.
Ask your competent person about setting the heat curve and
have them explain this setting.
4.8 Flow temperature
The target room temperature is the temperature that should
be reached by the heating in the "Heating" operating mode
or during the time period.
The target room temperature is used to calculate the heat
curve.
The target room temperature can only be set if an outdoor
temperature sensor is installed.
Ask your competent person about setting the target room
temperature and have them explain this setting.
Only set the target room temperature to a level that is just
sufficient for your personal comfort (e.g. 20 °C).
4.9 Setting the domestic hot water temperature
(with optional external domestic hot water
cylinder with NTC temperature sensor only)
1. Press the or ( ) button.
◁The set domestic hot water temperature flashes in
the display.
Condition: No control connected
▶Use the button and the button to set the required
domestic hot water temperature.
Condition: Control connected
▶Use the button and the button to set the max-
imum possible domestic hot water temperature on the
product.
▶Set the required domestic hot water temperature on the
control (→Control operating instructions).
4.10 Drawing hot water
▶Open a hot water valve to draw off hot water from the
domestic hot water cylinder.
◁If the cylinder temperature is lower than the set hot
water temperature, the product is automatically
switched on and the water is heated up in the
domestic hot water cylinder.
◁If the cylinder temperature corresponds to the set hot
water temperature, the product is switched off. The
pump continues to run for a short time.

4.11 Guaranteeing the correct filling pressure of
the heating installation
4.11.1 Checking the filling pressure of the heating
installation
Note
The filling pressure must be between 0.1 MPa and
0.2 MPa (1.0 bar and 2.0 bar) when the heating
installation is cold in order for the heating installa-
tion to operate properly.
If the heating installation extends over several
storeys, a higher filling pressure may be required
for the heating installation. Ask a competent per-
son for details.
If the filling pressure of the heating installation
falls below 0.08 MPa (0.8 bar), the filling pres-
sure flashes in the display. If the filling pressure
falls below 0.03 MPa (0.3 bar), the product is
switched off. The fault message F.22 appears in
the display.
▶Check the filling pressure in the display.
Result 1:
Filling pressure: 0.1 to 0.2 MPa (1.0 to 2.0 bar)
The filling pressure is in the intended pressure range.
Result 2:
Filling pressure: < 0.08 MPa (< 0.80 bar)

4.11.2 Filling the heating installation
Caution.
Risk of material damage due to heating
water that is extremely calciferous or cor-
rosive or contaminated by chemicals.
Unsuitable tap water damages the seals
and diaphragms, blocks components in the
product and heating installation through
which the water flows and causes noise.
▶Only fill the heating installation with suit-
able heating water.
1. Ask a competent person where the filling tap is located.
2. Connect the filling tap to a heating water supply in the
way you were told by the competent person.
3. Open all radiator valves (thermostatic valves) of the
heating installation.
4. Open the heating water supply.
5. Turn the filling tap on slowly and allow water to flow in
until the required filling pressure has been reached.
6. Close the heating water supply.
7. Purge all radiators.
8. Check the filling pressure in the display.
9. Top up with more water if necessary.
10. Close the filling tap.
4.12 Calling up status codes
1. Press and hold ( ) and ( ) at the same time for
three seconds.
◁The current operating mode S.XX is shown in the
display.
◁If the heating flow temperature and the required do-
mestic hot water temperature are set to low values,
the symbol appears in the display in each
case.
2. Press to return to the basic display.
4.13 Switching off the functions of the product
4.13.1 Switching off heating mode (Summer mode)
Condition: No control connected
▶Press until is no longer shown in the display.
Condition: Control connected
▶Switch off heating mode on the control (→Control oper-
ating instructions).
4.13.2 Switching off the domestic hot water mode
Condition: No control connected
▶Press until is no longer shown in the display.
Condition: Control connected
▶Switch off domestic hot water mode on the control (→
Control operating instructions).
5 Troubleshooting
5.1 Detecting and rectifying faults
Fault messages have priority over all other displays.
▶If faults occur or fault messages (F.xx) are displayed,
proceed as set out in the table in the appendix.

▶If the product still does not function without problems
after the checks have been carried out using the table,
contact your competent person to rectify the problem.
6 Care and maintenance
6.1 Maintenance
An annual inspection and biennial maintenance of the
product carried out by a competent person is a prerequisite
for ensuring that the product is permanently ready and
safe for operation, reliable, and has a long service life. The
inspection may require maintenance to be carried out earlier,
depending on the results.

6.2 Caring for the product
▶Clean the casing with a damp cloth and a little solvent-
free soap.
▶Do not use sprays, scouring agents, detergents, solvents
or cleaning agents that contain chlorine.
7 Frost protection
The heating installation and water pipes are sufficiently pro-
tected against frost if the heating installation remains on in
a period of sub-zero temperatures and the rooms are suffi-
ciently heated.
Alternatively, you can drain the product and the heating in-
stallation. Contact your competent person.
7.1 Frost protection function
The product is equipped with a frost protection function.
If the flow temperature falls below 8 °C, the heating pump
switches on automatically. If the flow temperature increases
again and reaches 10 °C, the heating pump automatically
switches off again.
If the product is connected to the power grid and the flow
temperature falls below 5 °C, the product automatically starts
up and heats the product's heating circuit to approx. 25 °C. If
the flow temperature falls below 3 °C, F.161 appears in the
display. In this case, notify your competent person.
7.1.1 Frost protection function for the domestic
hot water cylinder (only for optional external
domestic hot water cylinders with NTC
temperature sensor)
The domestic hot water temperature in the domestic hot wa-
ter cylinder is permanently approx. 15 °C if no domestic hot
water demand is present. If the temperature in the domestic
hot water cylinder falls to below 3 °C, the domestic hot water
generation is switched off and F.162 appears in the display.
In this case, notify your competent person.
Note
This function is not active if the domestic hot wa-
ter cylinder is connected to a thermostat.
8 Decommissioning
8.1 Temporarily decommissioning the product
Caution.
Risk of material damage due to frost.
The frost protection and monitoring devices
are only active while the unit is connected to
the power mains.
▶Do not disconnect the product from the
power mains.
▶Close the cold water stop valve.
▶Open the water tap to allow the rest of the water to flow
out of the line.
▶Close the water tap.
▶Close the hot water stop valve.
▶Switch the product off via the optional controller.
8.2 Permanently decommissioning the product
▶Have a competent person permanently decommission
the product.
9 Recycling and disposal
▶The competent person who installed your product is re-
sponsible for the disposal of the packaging.
If the product is labelled with this mark:
▶In this case, do not dispose of the product with the
household waste.
▶Instead, hand in the product to a collection centre for
waste electrical or electronic equipment.
If the product contains batteries that are labelled with
this mark, these batteries may contain substances that are
hazardous to human health and the environment.
▶In this case, dispose of the batteries at a collection point
for batteries.

A Detecting and eliminating faults
Problem Possible cause Solution
No hot water
Heating remains cold
Product will not start up:
Building power supply is switched off.
Product is not connected to the power grid or is
switched off via an optional control.
Filling pressure in the heating installation is too low.
Air in the heating installation.
Switch on the on-site power supply.
Ensure that the product has been connected to
the power grid. When using an optional control,
switch the product on at the control.
Increase the filling pressure in the heating install-
ation.
Purge the heating installation.
Heating mode does not start,
but domestic hot water mode
runs without any faults.
There is no heat requirement via the external control. Adjust the heating mode on the external control.
F.22 is shown in the display
(dry fire).
Water deficiency in the heating installation Fill the heating installation with sufficient water.
Then start up the product again.
