ATSC LEVEL
Press LEVEL from the HOME Screen.
The SignalScout continously scans for
ATSC LEVELS on the selected Chan-
nel and Frequency. There are 2 graphs
displayed - the Power Level (Left) and
Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) (Right)
which show the signal strengh, if de-
tected. The signal levels are displayed
numerically under the graphs and can
be toggled between dBm and dBmV.
PRE errors are coding errors in the data that are automati-
cally corrected by a TV’s error correction algorithm. POST
errors cannot be corrected and cause picture problems. The
8 VSB encoding format is displayed.
Select the UP and DOWN ARROW buttons to change the
Channel and Frequency or select the white CHANNEL or
FREQUENCY box to enter a specic number. Select the
GREEN ARROW button to enter a specic number or select
the “X” to cancel and go back to the ATSC LEVEL Screen
without saving the entered data.
Select the SPEAKER icon to enable an audible tone that is
proportional to the received signal strength. (No tone below
-79 dBm)
The built-in COMPASS gives a direc-
tion for aiming the antenna.
When the LOCK icon is shown as
locked and blue, the channel is locked
and being measured.
If AMP is displayed below the LOCK
icon, then the SignalScout is using an
internal amplier to boost the signal
and the system may require an ampli-
er for channel reception.

instead of TOTAL POWER.
Press ATSC from the HOME Screen to change to CAT V.
Select the LEVEL button to display the CAT V Signal Level
and SNR. This screen setup is identical to the ATSC LEVEL
Screen. The QAM encoding level is displayed. The Sig-
nalScout is 64/256 QAM compliant and DOCSIS 3.1 (OFDM)
signal level compatible.
Select SCAN from the HOME Screen in ATSC mode.
The SignalScout will scan all chan-
nels from the selected frequencies in
the channel plan entered in SETUP

frequency in a single graph. The chan-
nels are displayed under the graph in
the black bar. The blue bar displays the
virtual channels if entered in SETUP.
Select the UP and DOWN ARROW
buttons to scroll through the channels/
frequencies. The selected channel
POWER LEVEL (dBm) will be displayed as a blue column
with the measured level shown below the graph. The TOTAL
POWER (dBm) is the sum of the power levels of all detected
channels and is used to optimize anten-
na alignment when multiple channels
are present.
TILT is displayed for CATV SCAN in-
stead of TOTAL POWER. TILT is calcu-
lated as the last channel power minus
the rst channel power.
