OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Air is drawn into the heater through the top grill by a tangential fan, past the thermostat,
through the heating element and out the bottom grille creating a continuous cycle of
warm air into the room.
The heater is controlled by a combination rotary switch/thermostat which enables the fan
only to run for air circulation during summer, or provide 2 heat settings, one fixed on low
and one thermostatically controlled on high, for Winter.
To set the thermostat, turn the dial to “HI” marked on the temperature band. When the
room temperature reaches your desired comfort level, turn the dial back towards the
“LO” mark until you hear a distinctive “clicking” sound. At this point the heating element
will turn down to a lower temperature to maintain the comfort level. If the room
temperature should suddenly drop the element will return to full power to restore the
comfort level. Individual requirements vary but, generally for best economy, choose the
lowest thermostat setting at which comfort is obtained.
. Do not probe any opening to remove dust or fluff. To ensure trouble free performance
it is recommended that before use at the beginning of winter and periodically during
regular operation, the unit be isolated from the main supply and a vacuum cleaner
used to remove dust and fluff from the front grills.
. If the unit fails to function, before calling for service please check the following:
1. Check that the combination switch/thermostat is on and neon indicator is glowing.
2. Check that the thermostat is set correctly.
3. Check that the electrical supply is on at the switchboard and the fuse is intact.
OPTIONAL 3 HOUR TO OFF TIMER MODELS: AL16PWS, AL24PWS, AL35PWS, AL45PWS ONLY
When a 3 hour to Off Timer (Optional) is fitted, this will act as the on/off switch and can be
turned anywhere from 1 to 3 hours operation. Once the timer has returned to zero the
heater will turn off.
Warning: The timer knob must be rotated a minimum of 90 degrees to ensure a reliable
timing and switch-off function.
A pre-set thermostat is installed within the unit so as to operate in situations where manual
interference is not desired. (Refer PWS model only)
IMPORTANT NOTES
•The appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless
they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety.
•Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not interfere with the
appliance.
•The motor in your heater may be slightly noisy during the running-in period. Any
undue noise usually disappears within the first ten to fourteen days of operation.
Should motor noise persist, consult the electrician who installed your heater.
•Warning in order to avoid overheating do not cover the heater
•Never place articles such as clothing, curtains or furniture etc. directly in front of the
heater, over the side corners of the heater, or stand immediately in front of the heater
when it is operating.
•In accordance with current Approval Regulations, this heater is fitted with an
automatic, resettable over-temperature cut-out, which will shut the heater off if the
air flow is impeded in any way.
If this occurs, ensure the grills are clear of any obstruction, turn the heater off and wait
5 minutes to allow the cut-out to reset.
After waiting 5 minutes, turn the heater on and the thermostat knob to the “High”
position.
If the heater still does not operate or blows cold air, the secondary Thermal-fuse has
activated and you will require a Service call to replace this device. Note: Such service
calls are not covered by warranty.
•The heater is not suitable for installation in a bathroom
