SETTING UP THE CONNECTION ON A PC
1. Find the IP address of the PC:
a. Go to Start – Run (XP) and type CMD. In Vista, type CMD in Search. You will get the Command prompt
screen. Type in “IPCONFIG”. Note the IP Address, Subnet Mask Address and Default Gateway Address
listed on your command screen and write these down for future reference (see Figure 1 below).
(Figure 1)
*Note the IP Address for this example is 192.168.0.105, the Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0
and the Default Gateway is 192.168.0.1
b. Insert the installation CD for the Q-See IP Camera and Install the Q-See IP Camera as prompted by the
pop-up menu that appears on your screen.
c. Once the Q-See IP Camera Software is installed:
Go to: [START→ALL PROGRAMS→CONTROL CENTER→IPTOOL]. You will see a dialog box listing all
connected IP Cameras with the appropriate Addresses listed. See example below (Figure 2).

(Figure 2)
*Note that the example of this IPTOOL screen above lists an IP Camera with the Device Name of “name”,
an IP Address of 192.168.1.201, a Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.0 and a Gateway of 192.168.1.1
d. If the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Gateway Address listed in the IPTOOL dialog box is different than
those listed in your Command Screen (See Figure 1), then the IPTOOL Addresses and Subnet Mask must
be changed accordingly. To do this, right click on the name of the Device with the Addresses you want to
change (in this example below, the Device Name is “name”) and choose “network setup” from the right
click dialog box (Figure 3).
(Figure 3)
e. A pop up dialog box will appear as shown in the example below (Figure 4). Change the IP Address,
Subnet Mask and the Gateway Address to the Addresses you obtained from your Command Screen (See
Figure 1). Input Password 123456, hit OK and the pop up dialog box will close and you will be returned
to the IPTOOL screen (Figure 2).
(Figure 4)
f. The address you just inputted should now be listed on your IPTOOL screen next to your device. Right
click one more time on the Device (in our example, Device Name is “name”) and choose “Browse with
IE” (Figure 3). You will then be prompted to log in. Enter User Name “admin” and Password “123456”
(See Figure 5). Once logged in, you will be able to view a live feed from your video (Figure 6).

4. Setting up DDNS Service
Dynamic Domain Name Service (DDNS) provides the capability for a networked device using the Internet
Protocol Suite to notify a DDNS host to change the active DNS configuration of its hostnames or addresses.
This is a useful feature that your Q-See IP Camera is equipped with and can be helpful in avoiding any issues
that might occur due to frequent or unplanned changes to your Public/WAN IP address. Enabling DDNS on
your Q-See IP camera will allow you to connect to your device through a DDNS host such as myq-see.com. In
order to facilitate this ability on your Q-See IP Camera, you must first set up Port Forwarding as directed in
the User Manual for this device. Once you have enabled Port Forwarding, you can configure your DDNS
information by following these steps:
a. Using a computer that is connected to the same network as your Q-See IP Camera, use your IE Browser
to go to myq-see.com.
b. Click on the New User? Link at the bottom of your page (http://myq-see.com/reg.asp).
c. Complete the registration process by following the on-screen directions and click the [Submit] button at
the bottom of your screen (Figure 14).
(Figure 14) (Figure 15)
d. The next screen will ask you to create a domain name. Domain names must start with an (a-z) or (0-9)
and cannot contain a hyphen. Once you choose your domain name, click on the [Request Domain]
button. This will generate a confirmation screen which tells you if your Domain name is available and list
an IP address (Figure 15). Verify that this is your current IP Address by going to www.myipaddress.com
and checking that it is the same address listed in your confirmation screen (Figure 15).
e. Once you have completed steps a-d, log on to your Q-See IP Camera by going to [START→ALL
PROGRAMS→CONTROL CENTER→IPTOOL] on your Windows Start Bar and following the directions
illustrated in Figures 5 and 6.

(Figure 16)
f. Once you are logged in, click on the [Setup] tab at the right hand side of your screen (See Figure 8). This
will generate a drop down menu on the left hand side of your Setup screen (See Figure 11). Choose the
“DDNS Config” option from the menu and you will generate a DDNS Config dialog on the right of your
screen (Figure 16).

from the drop down list.
