2Installation
2.1 To loose the three screws from the back panel and remove the top cover of
external case.
2.2 Remove the label of pad.

2.3 Set CD-ROM and CD-R/RW to “Master”position.
(Please refer to your CD-ROM/R/RW drive’s user manual)
2.4 Place CD-R/RW drive into lower drive bay of external case and Screw up
the device.

2.5 Connect IDE flat cable and 4-pin DC power wire to CD-R/RW.
2.6 Place CD-ROM drive into upper drive bay of external case and Screw up
the device.

2.7 Connect 4-pin DC power wire and install the CD-Backup Controller to
CD-ROM.
2.8 Connect IDE flat cable of CD-R/RW drive to CD-Backup Controller.

2.9 Connect switch wire and 3 LED wires to “JP4”connector of CD-Backup
Controller.

CD-Backup specifications are as following:
4.1 Easy to Operate
You can start to backup your CD by applying household power.
4.2 Support RAW Mode Copy
CD-Backup provides a flawless function for backup all format of compact
disks, even than protected ones, with excellent accuracy.
4.3 Disk Format
Support all kinds of disk format, including CD-ROM (Model & Mode2),
CD-ROM/XA (Mode2 form1 & form2), CD-DA, Mixed-Mode, Video CD,
CD-I, Karaoke CD, Photo CD (Single & Multi-session), CD-Extra, HFS,
CD-Bridge, ISO9660, CD-R, and CD-RW.
4.4 Power Design

4.5 Intelligent Detect
The CD-Backup will detect the format of source CD and automatically

5Operating instruction
LED display for selection function:

The users can push ʺFunction Switchʺon the front panel to change each
function.
Duplication Error Code List:
Flashing Times Massage
2 Not an empty disc in the CD-RW writer.
3 Source disc capacity is larger than target
disc.
4 Source disc quality is bad.
5 Target disc quality is bad.
8 Old BIOS disc or wrong disc.

All main functions are described as followed:
5.1 Copy Disc
We strongly recommend you to choose this function to make a CD-to-CD
duplication. With this function, it can backup exactly the same CD as the
source disk, with excellent accuracy.
5.2 Test Copy Disc
To simulate the copying process of CD-Backup, you may execute this [Test
Copy Disc] function. This function is almost the same as [Copy Disc].
However, data will not be actually written to an empty disk; its primary
function is to estimate the feasibility of writing data to the empty disk. In
fact, CD-Backup can duplicate any CD except those have serious scratches
on it.
5.3 Raw Copy Disc
With this function, it can duplicate exactly the same CD as the source disk,
even the protected ones, with excellent accuracy. In order to use this
function, you must use CR-852E/854E/856E CD-ROM drive. Maximum
copy speed is 4X.
The trays of CD-ROM and CD-R/RW writer should be pushed out
manually. Put the master CD into CD-ROM and the blank CD-R/RW disc into
CD-R/RW writer. Close the trays. When both devices detect the master CD and
CD-R/RW disc, the duplication will start automatically.
While the duplication, the LEDs of users selected mode keep flashing. If
users would like to stop the duplication, just power off the external case.
When duplication is completed, the LEDs of users selected mode will stop
flashing. The CD-R/RW disc will be ejected automatically. The users should
take out the CDs and put in new CD-R/RW disc. The duplication will start
again.
If duplication fails, the LEDs of users selected mode will stop flashing and
the power LED will be flashing several times continuously. The master CD or
CD-R/RW disc will be ejected automatically. The users should take out the CDs
and put in new master CD or CD-R/RW disc. The duplication will start again.

5.4 Quick Erase Disc
It’s a kind of method to quick erase file head. It just likes Blank, but not
real. Relative to Full Erase, it can reduce half process time. The function is
used for CD-RW discs only.
5.5 Full Erase Disc
Complete Erase. It will erase all data on the CD. The function is used for
CD-RW discs only.
When the CD-ROM drive is empty. The users can put used CD-RW disc
into CD-R/RW writer, then CD-R/RW writer will automatically erase CD-RW
disc.
While the erase CD-RW disc, the LEDs of users selected mode keep
flashing. When erase CD-RW disc is completed, the LEDs of users selected
mode will stop flashing. The CD-RW disc will be ejected automatically. The
users should take out the CDs and put in used CD-RW disc. The erase CD-RW
disc will start again.
5.6 Update BIOS
We can support NEW UPDATE DISC for update CD-Backup’s F/W. It can
add new function or fix bug.
The users can put NEW UPDATE DISC into CD-ROM drive, then hold
ʺFunction Switchʺfor three seconds. When CD-Backup detects the latest BIOS
version in the BIOS disc, it will automatically update the old BIOS to a new
one.
While the update BIOS, all LEDs keep flashing. DO NOT press
power button, otherwise CD-Backup will not boot up again.
After updating new BIOS, system will reboot.
