Following terms are frequently used in this manual.
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a network protocol that enables a server
to automatically assign an IP address to concern devices.
A static address (static IP address) is a permanent number assigned to the device.
PPPoE stands for Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet, a network protocol for
encapsulating Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) frames inside Ethernet frames.
WLAN i.e. Wireless Local Area Network, a wireless network that can transfer data at high
speeds.
Local Area Network, a network of connected devices that exist within a specific location.
Wide Area Network, WAN is an IP-based network that connects two or more business
locations.
A VLAN i.e. Virtual Local Area Network allows several networks to work virtually.
An SSID i.e. Service Set Identifiers a unique ID that consists of 32 characters and is used
for naming wireless networks.
WPA2 (Encryption Method) - Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 - Pre-Shared Key, is a method of
securing your network using Pre-Shared Key (PSK) for authentication.
With WPA mixed (Encryption Method) mode network, one can connect with both WPA
(TKIP) and WPA2 (AES) clients.
TKIP (Temporal Key Integrity Protocol) is an encryption protocol included as part of the
IEEE 802.11i standard for wireless LANs (WLANs). It was designed to provide more secure
encryption than the notoriously weak Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP), the original WLAN
security protocol.
AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) is an encryption protocol which is much more secure
as it uses longer encryption keys.
2.4GHz band provides great distance coverage, however transmits data at slower speeds.
The 5 GHz band provides less coverage, however transmits data at faster speeds.
