1 Safety
In addition to this operating manual please note the following sections:
• applicable laws and regulations,
• legal regulations for accident prevention,
• the prohibition, warning and mandatory labels as well as warning notes on the universal
device.
ALWAYS KEEP THIS DOCUMENT CLOSE TO THE UNIVERSAL DEVICE FOR FUTURE
REFERENCE.
1.1 Proper use
WARNING!
In the event of improper use, the universal device
• will endanger employees,
• will endanger the machine and other material property of the operator,
• may affect proper operation of the universal device.
The universal device has been constructed for cutting, folding and bending of metal objects.
Applying stronger forces by using additional levers is not allowed.
Improper
use! If the universal device is used in any way other than as described above, modified without authorisation of Optimum Maschinen GmbH or operated with different process data, then it is
being used improperly.
We do not take any liabilities for damage caused by improper use.
We would like to point out that any modifications to the construction, or technical or technologi-
cal modifications that have not been authorised by Optimum Maschinen GmbH will also render
the guarantee null and void.
It is also part of proper use that
• the maximum values of the universal device are complied with,
• the operating manual is observed,
• inspection and maintenance instructions are observed.  „Technical data“ on page 6

2 Unpacking and installation
INFORMATION
The universal device is preassembled. When the machine is delivered, check immediately that
the universal device has not been damaged during shipping and that all components are
included. Also check that no fastening screws have come loose.
2.1 Extent of supply
• universal device SAR
• 1 x stop bar which stops at the rear
• 1 x stop bar which stops in the front
• 1 x instruction manual
2.2 Installation and assembly
WARNING!
Use of unstable lifting and load-suspension gear that might break under load can cause
very serious injuries or even death.
Check that the lifting and load suspension gear is of sufficient load capacity and in per-
fect condition.
Observe the regulations for prevention of accidents.
Fasten the loads properly.
Do not walk under lifted loads!
If the universal device is not placed directly on the ground, for example, when it is used on a
construction site, the universal device should be fixed on the provided substructure which is suf-
ficiently capable of bearing, using the designated drill-holes. Please note that there might be
additional danger of overturning when using levers.
WARNING!
The universal device may overturn when it is not fixed good enough.
2.2.1 Fixing
ATTENTION!
Fix the universal device at the designated drill-holes (4 pcs) onto the subsoil.

Operation
3 Operation
The universal device is used for
• cutting,
• folding and
• bending
of sheet metals. When the lever on the universal device is actuated, 3 simultaneous motions are
performed at different locations. Always clamp the motion lever, this would avoid the
displacement of the lever which is not used during the working process.
WARNING!
Observe that during the work with the universal device the operation of one lever always
actuates the compaction roller for bending, the folding bar and the shear blade.
Always inform anyone who stays in the danger zone of the universal device or helps you
with your work on the universal device about this event.
Wear safety gloves, since sheet metals always have sharp edges or a cutting ridge.
Wear safety boots.
3.1 Bending
By bending or rolling, sheet metal can be shaped to semicircles or tubes. The 2 front rolls (feed
rolls) serve to adjust the thickness of the sheet metal, in order to move the sheet metal by
adhesion to the rolls onto the rear roll. The rear roll (pay-off roll) is used to adjust the arc of the
circle which the metal sheet is supposed to receive when it passes this roll. Bend large or thick
metal sheets stepwise until the required diameter is reached, the adhesive friction on the motion
roll is not sufficient to shape thick metal sheets in one working step. Please also observe in this
context that the metal sheet is to be free of dirt, grease or other coating which could hinder the
adhesive friction.
3.2 Folding
In this working step (folding), metal sheets are being bent. Folding up to 90° can be performed.
When working with metal sheets with tenacious material properties "resilience" will occur.
Folding to exactly 90° is not possible or has to be carried out manually by "overbending". If
metal sheets which have already been shaped are folded, single folding segments can be
dismanteled. The free space which originates thereof, amounts to a height of 80mm. For the
length of the single segments, please refer to the technical data sheet.  „Technical data“ on
page 6
3.3 Cutting
Cutting or shearing off is performed by a fixed bottom knife and a mobile top knife. The top knife
is being moved downwards and the cut is performed from the right to the left.
3.4 Maintenance
The type and extent of wear depends to great extent on the individual conditions of operation
and running.

6.1 Copyright

This document is copyright. All derived rights are also reserved, especially those of translation,
re-printing, use of figures, broadcast, reproduction by photo-mechanical or similar means and
recording in data processing systems, neither partial nor total.
The company reserves the right to make technical alternations without prior notice.
6.2 Warranty
Within the term of warranty, the company Optimum warrants for a perfect quality of its products
and will reimburse any cost for overhaul or exchange of defective parts in case of construction
error, fault in material and / or defect of fabrication.
The term of warranty for commercial use is 12 months and for use as an amateur it is 24
months. Condition for a warranty claim due to construction errors, faults in material and / or
defects of fabrication is:
• Proof of purchase and that the instructions for use had been followed.
In order to assert the claim of warranty, you have to present a typescript original receipt of
purchase. It must comprise the complete address, date of purchase and type designation of
the product.
The instruction for use for the corresponding device as well as the safety information are to
be observed. Damages due to operator’s mistakes may not be accepted as warranty claims.
• Correct use of the devices.
The products of the company Optimum had been designed and built for certain purposes.
They are listed in the operation manual.
The warranty claim may not be accepted if the operating manual is not being followed prop-
erly or if it is used for a purpose which has not been intended or with improper accessory.
• Maintenance work and cleaning.
It is absolutely necessary to maintain and clean the machine in regular intervals according to
the prescriptions of the instruction for use.
By intervention of a third party, any warranty claim will expire. Maintenance work and clean-
ing are usually not part of the claim of warranty.
• Original spare parts
Make sure to use only original spare parts and original accessory. This can be acquired from
authorized distributors of the machine.
When other than original parts are being used, consequential damages may occur and dan-
ger of accidents will increase. Disassembled or partially disassembled devices and devices
which are repaired with foreign parts are excluded from warranty claims.
• Wearing parts
Certain components are subject to wear out by time respectively a standard wear by use on
the corresponding machine.
Among these components are e.g. V-belts, ball bearings, switches, mains cables, gaskets
and washers, etc. These wearing parts are not part of the warranty.
