Device Overview
Navigation Buttons
The navigaon buons at the boom of the device can be used as follows:
~Stuck? Lost? Confused? Simply press the Home buon to return to
the Home screen from any applicaon.
~Press and hold to display the most recent apps you launched; tap on
an app icon to re-launch.
~Display the Home screen Funcon Menu.
~Display individual applicaon Menu opons.
~Return to previous screens.
~Clear pop-up menus.
~In the Reader, turns pages back.
~Perform quick web search.
~In the Reader, turns pages forward.

Getting Started
This Quick Start Guide covers the basics for inial setup and usage. Please
refer to the User Guide for complete instrucons on all the features and
funconality of your device.
1Charge the device
Plug the power adapter into an electrical wall outlet, and then connect
to the device to fully charge the baery before use (5 to 6 hrs).
You can use the device while the baery is charging.
2Turn the device on
Press and hold the power buon for 3 seconds
unl the Pandigital screen appears, and then
wait unl the Welcome screen appears.
Right Side
To unlock the screen aer sleep mode, finger-slide the Unlock bar
towards the Sound bar .

3Initial Setup
To set up your device and register accounts, follow the setup wizard
prompts as they appear on the screen.
• Select your desired Language
• Accept End User License Agreement
You must accept the Agreement to proceed with the setup.
• Set Up Your Wi-Fi Network
IMPORTANT: If you skip the Wi-Fi setup, the setup process
automacally skips the step for seng up your Gmail and Barnes &
Noble accounts. Refer to the User Guide for instrucons on seng
these up later.
If you are connecng via a public Wi-Fi hotspot, you may be
prompted to enter the hotspot login informaon prior to having an
acve internet connecon.
• Idenfy your News Preference
This determines the default RSS news feed that will be displayed in
the InTouch applicaon.
• Set up Gmail and Barnes & Noble Accounts
These will not appear in the setup wizard if you did not set up your
Wi-Fi network.
If you enter an incorrect Gmail account or password, a “Network
Connecon Timeout” error message is displayed.
• Idenfy Your Locaon
You must select a locaon before you can proceed; this data is
used by applicaons that display informaon based on a specific
geographic locaon.
4Set Date & Time
IMPORTANT: Many applicaons require the Date and Time to be set
correctly according to your geographic locaon in order to connect with
your accounts or display correct data.
1. On the Home screen, tap the Sengs icon Date & me.
2. Set the me zone, date and me according to your locaon.

Noficaon icons (i.e., Email, downloads, etc.). Finger-slide down on
the noficaon to view the details, then tap on a detail lisng to access
corresponding applicaon.

Current Date and Time
Widgets (i.e., web search) and Shortcuts can be added to the Home
screen.
The My Books widget shows your last read books, magazine and
newspaper. Simply tap on a cover to open the media file again.

The My Wi-Fi widget allows quick access to seng up and connecng to
a local Wi-Fi network. Aer successful connecon, simply tap the globe
icon to launch the browser.
Dots on leand right side of screen indicate the visible space of the 5
available screens. Tap the leor right dots (or finger-slide the screen)
to display other screens. Touch & hold to pop up thumbnails of all 5
screens; tap on a screen to display it.

Applicaons screen quick launch icon. Touch & hold on the icon to pop
up thumbnails of all 5 screens. Tap on a screen to display it.
Browser quick launch icon.
Home Screen Function Menu
On the Home screen, press to display Funcon Menu.
Add Add Shortcuts, Widgets and Folders on your Home screen.
If Add is not available, the visible screen space is full. Delete
items to free up screen space or slide the screen leor right to
display extended screen space.
Manage Apps View app properes and uninstall your apps.
Wallpaper Assign a different photo as your background image.
Search Quickly and conveniently perform a Google search.
Noficaons List of pending noficaons (i.e., new email,
events, completed downloads, etc.).
Sengs Set mulple funcons and personal preferences that
affect the usage of the device.

Applications Screen
Your Pandigital Nova includes many preloaded apps (listed below). As
you download more AndroidTM apps, they can also be accessed on the
Applicaons screen.
To access the Applicaons screen, on the Home screen, tap .
AppInstaller ~Install and uninstall third party AndroidTM apps.
Barnes & Noble ~Shop on the Barnes & Noble Bookstore,
download purchased media, and access My Library.
Browser ~Access the Internet and ‘surf the web’.
Calculator ~ Perform basic math equaons.
Calendar ~Interfaces with your Exchange email account(s) to help
you stay current with all your appointments and scheduled events.
Camera ~Take photos or videos using the front or back cameras.
Clock ~Display a digital clock and schedule alarms.
Diconary ~Quick access to the built-in diconary.
Downloads ~View history of items you’ve downloaded from
websites. You can also open and delete downloads
Email ~Send/Receive email using your exisng email addresses.
ES File Explorer ~View and manage files and apps, backup files to
your microSD card, and install third party AndroidTM apps.
Facebook ~Quick access to the Facebook website.
Firmware Update ~Update the device Firmware.

Gallery ~View and manage photo and video files.
GetJar ~Market offering thousands of FREE third party AndroidTM
applicaons.
HDMI Switch ~Set the HDMI resoluon for the HDMI connecon
to view videos on your TV (cable not included).
InTouch ~Quick connect to view your Facebook, Twier, Gmail
and RSS news feed data all in one easy place.
Music ~Play and manage audio files.
Notes ~Convenient and quick way to write yourself notes.
OfficeSuite Viewer ~Open and view files of the following formats:
DOC, DOCX, TXT, XLS, XLSX, CSV, PPT, PPTX, PPS, PPSX and PDF
Search ~Quickly perform a web search.
Sengs ~Personalize and enhance the device as desired.
U Player ~View popular YouTube videos.
Video Player ~Play video formats not supported by the Gallery
and ES File Explorer media players.
Weather ~Check the weather forecasts for mulple locaons of
your choice.
Shop Barnes & Noble
Use the Barnes & Noble applicaon to:
• Shop on the Barnes & Noble online store
• Buy, download and read books, newspapers and magazines
• Get free books and sample books
• Read books copied from microSD cards and your computer
• Read Adobe eBooks transferred from Adobe Digital Edion (ADE)
• Read DRM-free books downloaded from web browser

Overview of Buying & Downloading B&N Media
On the Home screen, tap the Barnes & Noble applicaon icon.
Tap the B&N Bookstore tab; log into your B&N account.
Shop for Books, Newspapers and Magazines, or get Free Samples.
Aer a successful sync with your account, your media is added to your
B&N Library. Tap a tle’s Download buon to download to My Library.
In My Library, tap on a tle cover to open it in the Reader.

Finger-slide or tap on
either side of the screen
within 200 pixels to turn
pages. You can also
press or to
turn pages.
Touch & slide the dot on
the progress bar at the
boom of the screen to
jump to other pages.

Device User Guide
The Nova User Guide is preloaded in the device. To open the User Guide,
tap on the User Guide cover on the Home screen (in the My Books widget),
or tap the Barnes & Noble applicaon icon tap on the User Guide
cover in My Library.

DO NOT expose this product to extreme heat or cold (i.e., leaving in auto)
as this could cause screen damage and operaonal failure.
