SAFETY
Important: Hydraulics are under pressure. Never attempt to
open or work on a hydraulic system with the equipment running.
Care should always be taken when first opening a system that
was previously pressurized.
When disconnecting the hydraulic hoses or when purging is required, be aware
that the hydraulic oil within the machine system may be extremely hot and under
high pressure. Caution must be exercised. Any work carried out on the hydraulic
system must be performed in accordance with the machine manufacturerer’s
approved maintenance instructions. Raven Industries recommends that appropri-
ate protective equipment be worn when working on the hydraulic system. Ob-
jects or materials that are able to bypass the machine’s hydraulic filtration system
will adversely reduce performance and possibly damage the hydraulic valves.
Do not reverse the power leads. Doing so will cause severe damage to the
equipement. Always check to make sure that the power leads are connected to
the right polarity as marked. Ensure that the power cable is the last cable to be
connected.

INSTALLING THE STEERING ASSIST VALVE
BAND AND PRESSURE SWITCH
1. The SmarTrax Steering Override Pressure Switch is connected directly
to the PS port on the Steering Assist Valve Bank.
2. The mounting point for SmarTrax Valve is located at the back of the
articulation, near the Power Take-Off (PTO) shaft hole as shown below.

3. Mount the SmarTrax Steering Assist Valve Bank onto the supplied
Universal Mounting bracket.
4. Move the complete assembly to the mounting location as shown.
Mount the assembly directly under the PTO shaft hole.
NOTE: Valve shown below is not the currently used valve.

HYDRAULICS
1. Attach the supplied Pressure hose (P/N 214-1000-007) to the P port on
the Valve Bank as shown. Run the hose up and under the step plate on
the articulation, to the right of the existing cable/hose bunch, and under
the cab towards the priority valve.

2. At the Priority Valve, disconnect the original Pressure hose coming from
the pressure port on the steering orbital, from port CF on the Priority
Valve.
3. Attach the tee connector supplied to port CF and reconnect the original
P hose to the end run of the tee connector as shown on the following
page.
NOTE: The figure below shows the JD9x00 Priority Valve.
Please note that the Priority Valve on the JD9x20 looks slightly
different, however, the CF port is in the same location.

4. Connect the supplied Pressure hose to the branch of the tee connector
using the supplied Reducer as shown.

5. The Right-Steer (P/N 214-1000-010) and Left-Steer (P/N 214-1000-009)
hoses are connected to the A port and B port respectively on the Valve
Bank. Route both hoses to the back left to the steering cylinder on the
LHS of the articulation point.
6. Connect the Right-Steer hose to the front port of the LHS steering
cylinder using the tee connector and the reducer supplied. Reconnect the
original R hose to the run end of the tee connector.
Important: Ensure that the supplied Right-Steer and Left-
Steer hoses are positioned so that they don’t rub on the chassis.
Tie the hoses together to maintain neatness and security using
cable ties.
7. The Left-Steer hose connects to the back port of the LHS steering
cylinder using the tee connector and the reducer supplied. Reconnect
the original L hose to the run end of the tee connector.
Important: Check that the supplied Right-Steer and Left-Steer
hoses are not damaged during full left and rull right turns.

8. The supplied Tank hose (P/N 214-1000-008) connects to the T port on
the SmarTrax valve.
9. Route the supplied Tank hose the same way as the supplied Pressure
hose and then towards the RHS chassis rail where the Tractor Return
Line Tube is located as shown below.
Helpful Hint: The Tractor Return Line Tube may be accessed
while sitting on the front right wheel.

10. Disconnect the original T hose from the Tractor Return Line Tube.
Insert a supplied tee connector at port T of the tractor return line tube.
11. Attach the supplied Tank hose to the branch of the supplied tee connector
using the supplied reducer.
12. Re-connect the original T hose to the end run of the supplied tee
connector.

13. The supplied LS-Steer hose (P/N 214-1000-012) connects directly to
the LS-Steer Port on the SmarTrax valve.
14. Route the supplied LS-Steer hose the same way as the supplied Pressure
& Tank hoses were installed, under the cab to the Priority valve.
15. Before connecting the supplied LS-Steer hose, disconnect the original LS
hose from the STL port on the Priority Valve.

16. Attach the supplied LS-Steer hose to the end of the original LS hose
using the supplied straight 11/16” M/M adaptor.
17. The supplied LS-PV hose (P/N 214-1000-011) connects to the LS-PV
port on the SmarTrax Valve.
18. Route the supplied LS-PV hose the same way as the supplied Pressure,
Tank, and LS-Steer hoses, under the cab to the Priority Valve.

19. The supplied LS-PV hose connects to the STL port on the Priority
Valve using the 90° angle hose end.

INSTALLING STEERING POSITION SENSOR (SPS)
Mounting the
Steering
Position
Sensor (SPS)
1. Install SPS to left hand steering cylinder using the brackets supplied in
main kit not brackets in box with linear sensor. Mount sensor so ends
are over top of the center of the cylinder pins.
2. Be sure not to over extend or over compress sensor when turning
machine.
