3.3SeaTalkng®
Seaalkng®(NextGeneration)isanenhancedprotocolforconnectionofcompatiblemarine
instrumentsandequipment.ItreplacestheolderSeaalkandSeaalk2protocols.
Seaalkng®utilizesasinglebackbonewhichcompatibleequipmentconnectstousingaspur.Data
andpowerarecarriedwithinthebackbone.Devicesthathavealowdrawcanbepoweredfromthe
network,althoughhighcurrentequipmentwillneedtohaveaseparatepowerconnection.
Seaalkng®isaproprietaryextensiontoNMEA2000andtheprovenCANbustechnology.
CompatibleNMEA2000andSeaalkandSeaalk2devicescanalsobeconnectedusingthe
appropriateinterfacesoradaptorcablesasrequired.

MicronetisaproprietarywirelessRadioFrequency(RF)networkprotocolcompatiblewith
Raymarine’swirelessrangeofinstrumentdisplaysandtransducers.
Micronetcanbeusedtoconnectupto32compatibledevicestogethertocreateawirelessmarine
electronicsnetwork.Micronetproductscanoperateon1of2frequenciesdependingongeographic
location:
•869.8MHzforproductsoperatingintheUK,EuropeorAfrica
•915.9MHzforproductsoperatingintheUSA,Canada,SouthAmericaandAustralia
MicronetproductscomplywiththerelevantISMregulationsandareexemptfromlicensingineachof
theseterritories.
3.5Networkingrestrictions
oensurereliablesystemoperation,certainrestrictionsmustbeadheredtowhenusingthe
Micro-alkgateway.
Wirelessinterface(NMEA0183)
WhentheMicro-alkgatewayisusedinaMicronetnetworkthathasaWirelessinterface(122)
present,topreventdatalooping,youmustensurethattheWirelessinterface’sNMEA0183
input/outputconnectionsareNOconnectedtoanMFDoranNMEA0183toSeaalkng®converter
thatisconnectedtothesamenetworkasthegateway.
MultipleMicro-Talkgateways
Itisrecommendedthatonly1Micro-alkgatewayisusedperSeaalkng®network.Afterpowering
upifagatewaydetectsanothergatewayitwillshutitselfdown.Itisrecommendedthatonly1
Micro-alkgatewayisusedperMicroNetnetwork.BridgingmultipleSeaalkng®networksusing
MicroNetisNOrecommended.
