Region Management Information
This unit is designed and manufactured to respond to the Region Management Information that is
encoded on DVDs. If the region number printed on the DVD does not correspond to the region number
of this unit, it cannot play that disc.
The region number of this unit is 1.
Disc Function or Operation that is Not Available
When the appears on the screen, it indicates that the function or operation attempted is not
availableat thattime.This occursbecausethe DVDmanufacturerdeterminesthespecicfunctions
of DVDs. Certain functions may not be available on some DVDs. Be sure to read the documentation
provided with the DVD.

Dolby Digital
Dolby Digital is a technology developed by Dolby Laboratories. Soundtracks encoded in Dolby Digital
can reproduce from one to 5.1 discrete channels of excellent quality audio.
The unit automatically recognizes the Dolby Digital bitstream and provides a downmix suitable for
two-channel listening. An additional Dolby Digital decoder is required for reproduction of the discrete
multi-channel soundtracks available on many DVDs.

Remote Control
Using the Remote Control
• Point the remote control at the REMOTE
SENSOR located on the unit.
• Whenusing thisunitin verybrightlight,the
infrared REMOTE CONTROL SENSOR may
not work properly.
• The recommended effective distance
for remote operation is about 16 feet (5
meters).
Battery Replacement
When the batteries become weak, the operating
distance of the remote control will be greatly
reduced and you will need to replace the
batteries.
Note:
• Ifthe remotecontrol isnot goingto beused
for a long time, remove the batteries to
avoid damage caused by battery leakage
corrosion.
• When discarding batteries, environmental
problems must be considered and local
rules or laws governing the disposal of these
batteries must be strictly followed.
• Donotmixoldandnewbatteries.Donotmix
ALKALINE, standard (CARBON-ZINC), or
rechargeable (Ni-Cd, Ni-MH, etc) batteries.

On Placement
• Do not use the unit in places that are
extremely hot, cold, dusty, or humid.
• The ventilation should not be impeded by
covering the ventilation openings with items
such as newspaper, table-cloths, curtains,
etc.
On Safety
• When connecting or disconnecting the AC
power cord, grip the plug and not the cord
itself. Pulling the cord may damage it and
create a hazard.

On Condensation

before use.

Notes on Unauthorized Discs
You may not be able to play some DVDs on
this unit, particularly if they were purchased
from outside your geographic area or made
for business purposes.
MAINTENANCE
Cleaning the Disc
A defective or soiled disc inserted into the unit can cause sound to drop out
during playback. Handle the disc by holding its inner and outer edges.
• DoNOTtouchthesurfaceoftheunlabeledsideofthedisc.
• DoNOTstickpaperortapeonthesurface.
• DoNOTexposethedisctodirectsunlightorexcessiveheat.
• Cleanthediscbeforeplayback.Wipethediscfromthecenteroutwardwithacleaningcloth.
• NEVERusesolventssuchasbenzineoralcoholtocleanthedisc.
• Do NOT use irregular shaped discs (example: heart shaped, octagonal, etc.). They may cause
malfunctions.
Cleaning the Unit
• BesuretoturntheunitoffanddisconnecttheACpowercordbeforemaintainingtheunit.
• Wipetheunitwithadrysoftcloth. Ifthesurfacesareextremelydirty,wipecleanwith acloththat
has been dipped in a weak soap-and-water solution and wrung out thoroughly, then wipe with a dry

SETUP AND CONNECTIONS
CONNECTING TO A TV
The unit can be connected to your TV in several different
ways, depending on the design of your TV.
Note: Use only one of the below listed connection
method for connecting to your TV.
A. RCA AUDIO/VIDEO JACKS
Use the Audio/Video cable (included).
Connect the VIDEO OUT and left/right
AUDIO OUT jacks on the unit to the VIDEO
IN and left/right AUDIO IN jacks on your TV.

B. CONNECTING TO A DISPLAY (Using a
HDMI cable)
For TVs that support it, HDMI can provide the
best quality audio and video output (depending
on media source), and so is the preferred
connection type. The HDMI cable incorporates
both audio and video signals, so you will have
just one cable running from the unit to your TV.
Using the HDMI cable (not included), connect
the HDMI OUT jack on your unit to the HDMI IN
jack on your TV or HDMI-compatible display.

CONNECTING TO OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT (AMPLIFIER)
A. ANALOGUE CONNECTION
Using an audio/video cable, connect the left/right
AUDIO OUT jack on your unit to the AUDIO IN
jack on your other source.
B. DIGITAL CONNECTION
Using a coaxial digital audio cable (not included),
connect the DIGITAL COAXIAL OUT jack on
your unit to the DIGITAL AUDIO IN jack on your
other source.

USING SD CARD SLOT
You can connect a Secure Digital (SD) card (not included) to the memory card slot on the unit to play
DivXmoviesaswellaspictureles.
• PlugtheSDcardfullyintothememorycardslotontheunituntilitclicks.
• PressSOURCEbuttontochangetomemorycardmode.ItreadstheinformationoftheSDcardand
playingthepictureand/orsoundles.
ForoperationofplayinglesontheSDcard,pleaserefertothesection“PLAYINGDivX®VIDEO OR
PICTUREFILES”.
Note:
• ItisrecommendedtheSDcardispluggedwhentheunitisinSTANDBYmode.
• If the SD card is oriented incorrectly, it will not go fully into the slot. Do not apply force when
inserting the SD card.
• ToremovetheSDcard,pushtheCDcardintotheslotandthenslowlyremoveyournger,thelock
is released and the SD card is pushed out.
Title, Chapter and Tracks
• DVDs are divided into “titles” and “chapters”.
If the disc has more than one movie on it, each
movie would be a separate “title”. “Chapters” are
sections of titles.
• AudioCDsaredividedinto “tracks”. A “track” is
usually one song on an Audio CD.
Note:
Numbers identify each title, chapter, and track on a disc. Most discs have these numbers recorded on
them, but some do not.

LANGUAGE SETUP
1. Press the SETUP button in stop mode.
2. Press button to select Player Menu, Subtitle, Audio
and Disc Menu.
3. Press button, then use / button to select your
preferred language.
4. PresstheOKbuttontoconrm.
5. Press the SETUP button to exit the menu.
Note:
• Some DVDs may be set to display subtitles in a
different language other than the ones you selected.
A prior subtitle language may be programmed on the
disc.
• SomeDVDsallowyoutochangesubtitleselectionsusingthediscmenuonly.Ifthisisthecase,
press the MENU button and choose the appropriate subtitle language from the selection on the disc
menu.
• SomeDVDsmaynotbeplayedinthelanguageyouselected.Apriorlanguagemaybeprogrammed
on the disc.
• SomeDVDsmaynotincludeyourpre-selectedlanguage.Inthiscase,theDVDplayerautomatically
displays disc menus consistent with the disc’s initial language setting.
VIDEO SETUP
1. Press the SETUP button in stop mode.
2. Press button to select Video.
3. Press / button the setting item: Aspect Ratio,
HDMI Res. or JPEG Interval.
4. Press button, then use / button to select the
setting choice on the right.
5. PresstheOKbuttontoconrm.
6. Press the SETUP button to exit the menu.
Aspect Ratio
Depending on the format of the DVD disc, you can choose the picture format
(aspect ratio) best suited the format of your TV screen.
4:3 LB
• Whenwide-screenvideoisplayedinthismodeonaconventionalscreen,
black bands appear at the top and bottom of the screen.
4:3 PS
• Whenwide-screenvideoisplayed,thismodeclipstherightandleftsides
of the image so that it can be viewed on a conventional screen.
• Somewide-screenDVDsthatdonotpermitPanScanmodeplaybackare
automatically played in letterbox mode (black bands that appear at the
top and bottom of the screen).
16:9
• This is the correct mode for playing wide-screen videos on the unit or
other external wide-screens.
Note:
• ThedisplayablepicturesizeispresetontheDVD.Therefore,theplayback
picture of some DVDs may not conform to the picture size you select.
• WhenyouplayDVDs recordedinthe4:3picturesizeonly,theplayback
picture always appears in the 4:3 picture size regardless of the Aspect
Ratio setting.
• Select16:9toconformtotheLCDscreenontheunit.Alwaysbesurethat
your Aspect Ratio conforms to the actual TV in use if you connect the unit to a TV.
HDMI Res. (Resolution)
You can set the HDMI Res. (Resolution) to be Auto, 480p, 720p, 1080i or 1080p, according to the
connected TV.
Note:
• SelecttheHDMIresolutionaccordingtotheperformanceoftheconnectedTV.
• IftheVideooutisnotsettoHDMI,youcannotselecttheHDMIRes.
JPEG Interval
To set the JPEG Interval for slide show playback. Select Off to disable the slide show feature.
Off: Playsbackoneleatatime.
5 seconds Plays back images in the form of a slide show at 5 seconds interval.
10 seconds Plays back images in the form of a slide show at 10 seconds interval.
15 seconds Plays back images in the form of a slide show at 15 seconds interval.
Playing Titles/Chapters in a Favorite Order
You can combine your favorite titles/chapters and play them
in the order you determine.
1. Press the MEMORY button and a program screen
appears.
2. Select the items in the order you want by pressing the
number buttons. Each time you press the Cursor buttons
( , , , ), the space is highlighted. Highlight where
you want to enter, then press the corresponding number
buttons.
3. Press the Cursor buttons ( , , , ) to move the
highlighted bar to , then press the PLAY or OK
button. The DVD player starts memory playback.
4. To resume normal playback from memory playback
a) Press the MEMORY button in stop mode.
b) Press the Cursor buttons ( , , , ) to move the
highlighted bar to “Clear”, then press the OK button. All
the input programs will be cleared.
c) Press the PLAY button to resume normal playback.
Note:
• Ifthetitleorchapternumbersyouenteredisnotpermitted
by the DVD, after you press the OK button, it will restore to [- -]. You should re-enter correct
numbers.
• Somediscsmaynotpermitmemoryplaybackoperation.
• If you select repeat during memory playback, the DVD player repeats the current memory
playback.
• If you press the MEMORY button while the display appears on the TV screen, the display
disappears.
• The programmed selections will be cleared when you open the disc tray or turn off the DVD
player.
AUDIO SETUP
1. Press the SETUP button in stop mode.
2. Press button to select Audio.
3. Press / button the setting item: Digital Out or
Night Mode
4. Press button, then use / button to select the
setting choice on the right.
5. Press the OK button.
6. Press the SETUP button to exit the menu.
Digital Out
Selects the output sound format corresponding to your system connection.
PCM(STEREO):
SelectwhenconnectedtoaMulti-channeldigitalstereoamplier.
RAW (DVD FORMAT):
Disc audio raw data will be output.
Note:
If you connected to a TV using HDMI, and are using the TV’s speakers for audio playback, make sure
toselect“PCM(STEREO)”.
Night Mode
Nightmodeis equivalenttoDynamic RangeCompression.If turnedon,“Night Mode”willlimit the
volume on loud passages of movies (such as action sequences) while still allowing you to hear quiet
passages (such as dialog).
Note: Night mode is Dynamic Range Control (DRC) option for analog audio output.
SYSTEM SETUP
1. Press the SETUP button in stop mode.
2. Press button to select System.
3. Press / button the setting item: Default, View
DivX(R) VOD or Screen Saver.
4. Press button, then use / button to select the
setting choice on the right.
5. Press the OK button.
6. Press the SETUP button to exit the menu.
Default
Resets all settings to their initial factory state.
Note: It will take 3-5 seconds to reset the DVD player to the factory default.
View DivX(R) VOD
DivX®Registration
DivX®registration code allows you to rent and purchase movies using the DivX®VOD service from
the internet. This menu setting will display the registration code of your unit as follows:
Go to the website http://vod.divx.com to activate your DivX registration code.
This website will also give you information on how to purchase and download movies, and how to
enable video content to be played on your product. You will have the options of transferring content
toaUSBashdrive,SDcardordisc(CD-R/RW,DVD+R/-RorDVD+RW/-RW)forplaybackonyour
product.
Note:
• This registration code is for DivX®Video-On-Demand only. Do not apply this code for other
applications or websites.
• Ifyouhavealreadyregisteredthisproduct,selectingtheViewDivX(R)VODsettingwillallowyouto
deregister (deactivate) the product for DivX playback - we recommend you DO NOT deregister
the product.
Screen Saver
To turn on or off the screen saver (screen protection to prevent image burn).
Note: When you leave the unit in DVD stop mode for approxiamtely 5 minutes, the screen saver of
the unit automatically appears if you set the Screen Saver to On mode. To turn off the screen saver,
press the PLAY button.
Locating a specic chapter / track / title / time
Ifyouknowthechapter/track/title/timenumberyouwanttoplay,youcanlocateaspecicchapter
/ track / title / time by directly selecting a chapter / track / title / time number.
1. Press the GOTO button to search your desired chapter / track / title / time.
2. Press or button to highlight a chapter / track / title / time and press the corresponding number
button(s) for the chapter / track / title / time you want.
3. Press the OKbuttontoconrm.Theunitwillstartplaybackabout3secondslater.

• Somediscsmaynotrespondtothisprocess.
• Somescenesmaynotbelocatedaspreciselyasyouspecied.
• Thismethodfor accessingspecic locationsis availableonlywithin thecurrent titleof theDVD
disc.

on the screen. The current track is played repeatedly.
Repeating a whole disc
2. While the disc is playing, press the REPEAT DISC button until the indicator displays
on the screen. The whole disc is played repeatedly.
To resume normal playback
3. Press the REPEAT DISC button until the indicator displays on the screen.
Youcanplayaspecicsectionrepeatedly.
Repeating a specic section
1. While the disc is playing, press the REPEAT A-B button at the beginning of the section ( is
displayed) you want to play repeatedly.
2. Press the REPEAT A-B button again at the end of the section ( is displayed).
3. The unit will immediately begin replaying your selection.
To resume normal playback
4. While the disc is playing, press the REPEAT A-B button until the indicator displays on
the screen.
Note:
• SomediscsmaynotpermitA-Brepeatoperation.
• A-Brepeatcanonlybeusedwithinthesametitle.Ifthestartandendofthesectiontoberepeated
are in different titles, A-B repeat is cancelled.
• Youcanspecifyasegmentonlywithinthecurrenttitleortrack.
• TheA-Brepeatfunctiondoesnotoperateinsceneswheredifferentcameraanglesarerecorded.

REPEAT PLAYBACK
This unit can play DivX® and picture les stored on USB ash drives, SD cards, CD-R/CD-RW,
DVD+R/-RorDVD+RW/-RWdiscs.
To play video les on this product you must rst convert them to DivX format using
the DivX Plus Player on your PC or MAC. This application can be downloaded at
www.divx.com. Please do so, and then install on your PC or MAC.
Playing DivX®Video/ Picture Files
Ifplaying DivXvideoorpictureles froma USBdriveorSD
card, see note below.
1. Press SOURCE key to select DISC mode after turning on
the unit.
2. Open the disc door.
3. Place a DivX®/picturelediscontothetraywithlabelside
up.
4. Close the disc door.
5. A selection menu will appear on the screen.
6. Press or button to select the picture or video icon, and then press OK.
If picture mode is selected, use below to nevigate the menu:

/ : page up or down
RETURN : returns to previous menu
ENTER:playsyourselectedle

• ForplayinglesonUSBashdriveorSDcard,youshould
plugintheUSBashdriveorSDcard whentheunit isin
STANDBY mode. Press SOURCE button, select USB or
Card mode, then follow step 6 above.
• Youcanpressthe PAUSE button to interrupt playback,
and press the PLAY button to resume playback.
• Youalsocan usethe GOTObutton orusethe numberedbuttons toenter aphotonumber and
quickly select any image.
• Duringpictureplayback,youcanpressANGLEbuttonrepeatedlytorotatethepicture.

Playing a Disc
1. Press the STANDBY / ON button to turn on the unit. (See CUSTOMIZING THE FUNCTION
SETTINGS before proceeding to step 2).
2. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the disc tray.
3. Place a disc onto the disc tray with the label side up.
4. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to close the disc tray. It takes a short while for your unit to load
the disc. After loading, for most DVDs, the unit will automatically take you main menu or start
playing.
5. If the unit does not automatically start playing the DVD, press the PLAY button.
Pausing Playback (Still Mode)
Press the PAUSE button on the remote. To resume normal playback, press the PLAY button.
Each time you press the PAUSE button, the picture advances one frame.
Stopping Playback
• Pressthe STOP button at the location where you want to interrupt playback. To resume playback
at the position where the disc was stopped, press the PLAY button.
• Ifyoupressthe STOP button twice, the unit’s memory will be cleared and pressing the PLAY
button will reset the disc to the beginning.
Zooming into an image
While a disc is playing, press the ZOOM button to enlarge the image in several levels.
• Whileanimageiszoomed,youcanusethe , , or CURSOR button to shift the view and
display the part you want.
• Toreturntonormalview,presstheZOOMbuttonrepeatedlyuntilthe is displayed.
• Whenyoureachtheedgeoftheimage,thedisplaywillnotshiftanymoreinthatdirection.
Skipping (Forward / Reverse)
• Pressthe PREV button to go back to current or previous chapters/tracks.
• Pressthe NEXT button to advance chapters/tracks.
• ForaudioCDs,usethenumberbuttonson theremotecontroltojump immediatelytothedesired
track number.
Fast Forward / Fast Reverse
1. Press the SEARCH or SEARCH button when a disc is playing. Each time you press the
SEARCH or SEARCH button, the playback speed changes.
2. Press the PLAY button when you reach the desired point to resume normal playback.
Note:
• TheunitmutessoundandsubtitlesduringreverseandforwardscanofDVDs.
• Thefastplaybackspeedmaydifferdependingonthedisc.
Slow-motion Play
1. Press the SLOW button on the remote in play mode.
 •EachtimetheSLOW button is pressed, the speed of slow-motion playback changes.
2. Press the PLAY button to return to normal playback speed.
Audio Selection
On some DVDs, the sound is recorded in two or more formats. Follow the directions below to select
the preferred language and sound system.
1. While a disc is playing, press the AUDIO button to show the current audio format number.
2. Press the AUDIO button repeatedly to select the desired audio format.
Note:
• IfonlyoneaudioformatisrecordedontheDVD,thenumberdoesnotchange.
• SomeDVDsallowyoutochangeaudioselectionsonlyviathediscmenu.Ifthisisthecase,press
the MENU button and choose the appropriate language on the disc menu.
• You can select different audio channels on an Audio CD by pressing the AUDIO button
repeatedly.
Subtitle Selection
1. While a DVD is playing, press the SUBTITLE button to display the current language setting.
2. Press the SUBTITLE button repeatedly to select the desired subtitle language. You can turn
subtitlesoffbypressingtheSUBTITLEbuttonrepeatedlyuntilthe“Off”isdisplayed.
Note:
• SomeDVDsaresettodisplaysubtitlesautomatically,andyoucannotturnthemoffevenifyouset
the subtitle function to off.
• During some scenes, the subtitles may not appear immediately after you select your desired
scene.
• Thenumberof subtitlelanguagesrecordeddiffers dependingonthedisc. Ifonlyonelanguageis
recorded, the language does not change.
• This function can only be used for discs on which subtitles have been recorded in multiple
languages.
• SomeDVDsallow youto changesubtitlesonly viathe discmenu.If thisis the case,press the
MENU button and choose the appropriate subtitle on the disc menu.
Angle Selection
Some DVDs contain scenes which have been shot from a number of different angles. For these discs,
the same scene can be viewed from each of these different angles.
1. While you are playing a DVD with different angles recorded, press the ANGLE button to view the
number of current angles available.
2. Press the ANGLE button repeatedly to change the scene to the next recorded angle.
• Afterapprox.twoseconds,playbackwillcontinuefromthenewangleyouselected.
• Ifnobuttonispressedwithin10seconds,playbackcontinueswithoutchangingthecurrentangle.
Note:
• Thisfunctioncan onlybeused fordiscs on whichscenes shot frommultiple angleshavebeen
recorded.
• Ifonlyoneangleisrecorded, is displayed.
Display Function
While the disc is playing, press the DISPLAY button on the remote control repeatedly to display
information on operation status.
Elapsed Time: Elapsed time from the beginning of the chapter/title which is currently playing.
Remaining Time: Remaining time of the chapter/title which is currently playing.
