for the RealWear HMT-1

Overview
These instructions cover the installation of a prototype head strap for the HMT-1 which is
optimized for use with a bump cap.
At this time (August 2017), RealWear has not released the bump cap mounting solution to its
customer base. Your use of the prototype hardware is for information purposes only. We are
pleased that you are considering the use of the HMT-1 and hope that you find this accessory
also potentially useful. We look forward to hearing from you about your experiences with it.
Materials
1. HMT-1
2. Bump cap
3. T-Strap with Bump Cap Mounting Hooks
4. Chin Strap
Instructions
1. Determine the side the device will
be worn on. The photos
accompanying these instructions
show a right-eye configuration
2. Remove the back head strap and
the overhead strap.

5. Fold the boom arm all the way
down and back
6. Lay the headset down on a table
with boom arm laying on table
7. Lay the t-strap over the headset
with the button snap on the rear
headband and the tri-glide buckles
facing up.
8. Wrap end around the rear-part of
the headband and snap shut

9. For this step, it may be easier to
flip the device and strap over.
We recommend that you attach
the non-camera/non-boom side of
the device first as this will be the
easier side to attach.
Ensuring the that strap is not
twisted and that the snap buckle
flange faces toward the center of
the device push the snap buckle
into the slot at the front of the
device. You may need to angle
the buckle toward the center of
the device and wiggle the buckle
into place
The buckle will snap into the
metal band. When fully snapped
in, the flange can be felt
protruding above the flat surface
of the metal band.

10. Repeat for the other side of the HTM-1.
11. The device can be worn as is (replace the head strap if it is to be worn without a cap).
The following steps provide instruction on fitting to a bump cap.
12. Fit the HTM-1 and strap over the
top of the bump cap so that the
hull of the HMT-1 is
approximately even with the
bottom edge of the cap.

13. Attach the brim clips - one on
each side of the strap, close to
the buckles - underneath the brim
of the cap.
(Note that these clips are
prototypes. While they have
snap-on clips to allow easier
attachment to and removal from
the straps, they are printed pieces
and the snaps will often
disengage. That won't hurt the
clips or reduce the holding-power
of the clips. Production clips will
snap securely.)
14. If necessary throughout the process, adjust the length of the straps to conform to the
size and shape for the cap.
15. If desired, affix the chin strap hooks (point the hooks outward) to the snap buckles on
each side of the strap. Adjust to provide secure fit.
16. To remove the strap, press down on the buckle flange to disengage the snap buckles.
