The monitor features an easy-to-squeeze inflation bulb that allows
you to quickly inflate the cuff. The measurement reading is clearly
displayed on a large digital panel.
Omron digital blood pressure monitors use the oscillometric method
of blood pressure measurement. This means the monitor detects
your blood’s movement through your brachial artery and converts the
movements into a digital reading. An oscillometric monitor does not
need a stethoscope so the monitor is simple to use.
The ReliOn HEM-412CREL Manual Inflation Blood Pressure Monitor
is intended for home use.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTES
To assure the correct use of the product basic safety measures should
always be followed including the precautions listed below:
Read all information in the instruction book and any other literature
included in the box before using the unit.
Contact your physician for specific information about your blood
pressure. Follow the instructions of your healthcare provider.
Operate the unit only as intended. Do not use for any other purpose.
The unit is intended for use in measuring blood pressure and pulse
rate in adult patient population. Do not use on infants.
Do not use a cellular phone near the unit. It may result in
operational failure.
Changes or modifications not approved by Omron Healthcare will
void the user warranty. Do not disassemble or attempt to repair the
unit or components.

QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE
1. Avoid eating, smoking, and exercising for at least 30 minutes before
taking a measurement.
2. Put your left arm through the cuff loop. The bottom of the cuff
should be about 1/2 inch above the elbow. The cuff tab should lie
over the brachial artery on the inside of the arm.
3. Pull the cuff so that it is tightened evenly around your arm. Insert one
finger under cuff to check fit. Press the sewn hook material firmly
against the pile side of the cuff. Make sure that your skin will not be
pinched in the D-ring once you inflate the cuff. Immediately deflate
the cuff and readjust it if skin becomes pinched.
4. Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor and place your left arm
on a table so that the cuff is at the same level as your heart.
5. Turn the monitor on, and after the Ready To Measure Symbol ( )
appears next to a zero on the digital panel, rapidly squeeze the
inflation bulb to inflate the cuff. Stop pumping when the numbers
on the display are approximately 40 mmHg higher than your
normal systolic blood pressure. Do not inflate higher than 280 mmHg.
6. The cuff will deflate automatically. Remain still throughout
the entire reading.
7. When measurement is complete, the monitor alternately displays
your blood pressure/pulse rate on the digital panel. Press the Air
Release Button to remove air in the cuff.
8. Wait 2-3 minutes before taking another blood pressure measurement.

Blood pressure is the force on the walls
of your blood vessels as blood flows
through them.
Your heart is like a pump. When
it contracts, or beats, it sends a surge
of blood through the blood vessels
and pressure increases. This is called
your systolic pressure.
When your heart relaxes between
beats, your blood pressure decreases.
This is called your diastolic pressure.
When a doctor takes your blood
pressure, he or she measures
both your systolic and diastolic
pressures and records them as
numbers. For example, if your blood
pressure reading is 120/76 (120 over
76), your systolic is 120 and your
diastolic is 76. The numbers are
expressed in millimeters of mercury

Your blood pressure changes constantly. Blood pressure changes from
day to day and minute to minute according to your body’s condition.
For example, when you are exercising or angry your blood pressure
increases, but when you are relaxing or sleeping your blood
pressure decreases. These changes are completely normal. Your ReliOn
HEM-412CREL Manual Inflation Blood Pressure Monitor is
especially helpful when tracking changes in blood pressure because
it travels anywhere and takes just seconds to use.
NOTE: One or two readings will not determine your normal blood pressure.
It is very important to take regular, daily measurements and
to keep accurate records. In partnership with your doctor, an
accurate record of your blood pressure over a period of time
can be a valuable aid in diagnosing and preventing potential
health problems.

• There is not a universally accepted definition of hypotension (low blood
pressure,) but a systolic pressure below 100 mmHg is usually
regarded as hypotension.

Classification. This classification, however, is only a general guideline
because your optimum blood pressure depends on your age, morbidity,
and treatment strategy by a physician. CONSULT YOUR PHYSICIAN
