Plaster Trimmer MT 2
No. 1801-0000
We are pleased that you decided to buy a MT2 Trimmer,
which will set new functional, performance, safety and design
standards. To ensure that you enjoy using this product for
many years, please follow these instructions carefully.
1. Description / Applications
The MT2 is a water-assisted trimmer unit for grinding plaster
models in dental laboratories.
DSS Disc-Stop-System:
The trimmer unit is fitted with a maintenance-free motor
brake. The trimmer disc will stop rotating within 5 seconds of
switching off the unit or opening the front cover. A hum will be
heard from the motor compartment which is normal.
2. Installation / Operation
Place the trimmer on a level surface, if possible in close proxi-
mity to a wash basin/plaster trap.
For installation of the trimming disc please see point 6.1.
When snapping the model tray (1) on the front cover (2) take
care that it fits perfectly (see Fig. 2). Use the outlet hose (10),
included with the trimmer, to connect it to the drain/plaster
trap.
Make sure the drainage pipe has a sufficient gradient.
Connect the water input hose (12) to your water supply,
ensuring that it has a suitable shut-off valve. Ascertain that
the washers in the screw-connectors are seated correctly.
Tighten the connectors, turn on the water and check that the
connectors are water-tight.
Ensure that the trimmer disc and the model tray are fitting
perfectly. Ensure that your mains voltage coincides with that
quoted on the rating plate. Once this check has been carried
out, insert the plug (11) into a mains socket. Switch on the
power switch (13) on the housing.
The water valve opens automatically thus supplying the trim-
mer with water.
The water consumption can be regulated using the
reduction valve (14) on the left, underside of the trimmer.
The MT2 trimmer is now ready for use.

3. Areas of Caution
Observe the regulations for prevention of accidents
of the Employer's Liability Insurance Association and
the following safety precautions when trimming:
• Do not touch the disc when trimmer is live because
there is danger of injury as soon as the machine runs.
• Do not work at the trimmer with long, untied hair or
loose clothes. By winding them into the running
machine, there is danger of injury.
• The unit is intended for trimming plaster and plastic
models only.
• Do not open the front cover whilst the motor is run-
ning. The motor switches off automatically when
the front cover is opened, however, the disc
continues rotating for approx. 5 sec.
• Wear your safety goggles when trimming.
• Open the front cover only after the
complete standstill of the grinding disc.
• Never reach into a rotating disc.
• Never work without the model tray. There is a risk
of
injury if small parts or fingers enter the space bet-
ween the disc and the casing.
3.1 Exclusion of liability
Renfert GmbH rejects any claims for compensation
as well as warranty claims in case of:
• the product is used for any other purpose than
those mentioned in the instruction manual
• the product is changed or amended in any way
beyond those mentioned in the instruction manual
• the product is repaired by a non-authorized party or
the product is not fitted with original Renfert
replace-
ment parts
• the product is used continuously despite visible
safety faults
4. Operation / Trimming
Use both hands to press the model firmly onto the grinding
platform (1) and guide the model carefully onto the rotating
disc.
The service-life of the trimmer disc depends on various fac-
tors. Providing for an ample supply of water is an especially
important point when using a diamond disc as overheating
can damage the trimmer disc. Do not use the disc to trim metal.
Casting rings, pins and retention rings etc. may damage the
trimmer disc as well. Investment materials contain very abra-
sive constituents which reduce the service life of the disc.
Never grind without using water (danger of overheating)!
After grinding, switch off the power supply. Should the trimmer
not be used for a longer period of time, or overnight, turn off
the mains tap.

6. Cleaning / Maintenance
A clean flow of water and a clear drainage channel are impor-
tant factors for the smooth functioning of the trimmer. For this
reason the unit should be cleaned at least weekly. To do this
switch off the unit, unplug (11) and close off the shut-off
valve. Wait for the disc to come to a halt before opening the
lock (9), then swing the front cover (2) all the way to the left
or unhinge. Clean the front cover under running water with a
brush. Use the brush to clean the inner parts and the
drainage channel. After cleaning, re-hinge the front cover and
close it using the lock on the right side. Ensure that the
spacer ring is present on the hinge-bolt.
6.1 Changing the trimmer disc:
Switch off the unit, unplug (11), close the shut-off valve and
open the front cover. Change the spray pipe as per part 6.3.
Using the Allen key SW4 (4) loosen the central screw in the
middle of the trimmer disc by turning it anti-clockwise.
Remove the screw. Clean the support flange if necessary.
Fig. 1

When fitting the new trimmer disc always make sure that the
locking pins fit comfortably in the stabiliser holes of the
trimmer disc. Tighten the screw (5) with the Allen key by
turning it clock-wise.
After tightening the screw check the rotation of the disc by tur-
ning it manually. If the disc touches then it should be re-
moved, turned by 180o, and then replaced. The plastic cover
M5 (see small parts set) will avoid impurities of the socket
head screw. Close the front cover making sure that the spacer
ring is present on the hinge-bolt. Plug in and re-open the
shut-off valve.
6.2 Changing / Cleaning of the support flange:
Remove the trimmer disc as per previous instructions.
Next, use the screw (7) and Allen key SW8 (3) to ease off the
support flange (8) from the motor shaft and clean the working
area and the support flange. When cleaning the working area
make sure that no water gets through the opening for the
motor shaft into the motor compartment. Remove the screw
from the support flange again. After rubbing a little Vaseline
into the motor shaft and the black rubber washer on the
support flange push the support flange back onto the motor
shaft. Take note of the position of the take-up on the motor
shaft and the position of the take-up nut on the support
flange. These must match. Replace the trimmer disc as per
the instructions in point 6.1.
6.3 Changing / Cleaning the spray pipe:
Switch off the unit, unplug (11), close the shut-off valve and
open the front cover (2) as described in point 6.
Remove the spray pipe (15) from the water supply pipe by
gently moving it back and forth. Remove the washers and
place them in a suitable de-scaling liquid. After successfully
cleaning the washers replace them, smear them with a bit of
Vaseline and gently feed the spray pipe back into the water
supply pipe. Close the front cover. Ensure that the spacer ring
is present on the hinge-bolt. Replace the plug and re-open the
shut-off valve.
6.4 Changing / Cleaning the grinding platform:
The trimmer table (1) is easily cleaned under running cold
water. It can be unhinged from the front plate by pulling it
upwards off the adjuster screw and then pulling it sideways.
When replacing it the trimmer table is pushed diagonally from
above into the trimmer opening. The trimmer table will only
lock into the adjuster screw hole (2.3) when the lip (2.1) has
snapped on over the edge. In order to ensure a secure hold
the trimmer table sides (2.2) must be pressed into the front
cover recesses. Always make sure that the trimmer table is
seated correctly! To adjust the trimmer table (only for KFO
90o) first unscrew the knurled nut (2.4) clockwise and reset the
trimmer table via the adjuster screw. After adjusting turn the
knurled nut anticlockwise to counter the threaded socket.
98° and 90° trimmer tables are available. To make the
mounting of the trimmer table easier they can be sprayed in
advance with some silicon oil or with washing liquid.
Always make sure that the trimmer table is seated
correctly on the front cover!
