1. INFLATION
1.1. Atdeploymentpoint,selectbestpossibleatdebris-freesite.
1.2. UnpacktheStretcherfromitsvaliseandunroll.
1.3. PrepareforInation:-
a) FixRegulatortocylinder(s)andconnectdeliveryhosetoRegulator.
b) Removedustcapfrominationvalveintheinatablebedandsides,ensurethe
centralvalvediaphragmisclosed;i.e.theinternalspindleisraised.(pushandturnto
release).
Note:Thestretcheristobeinatedthroughtheinationvalveslocatedonthehead
endoftheinatablebedandsides.(seepg.4,item6)
1.4. Holddeliveryhosetightintoinationvalve.Opencylindervalveandinateuntilrelief
valveactivates.Closecylindervalve.Donotreleasehoseduringination.
Warning: Failure to do this may result in personal injury to the operator.
1.5. Ensuredustcapsarereplacedtopreventingressofdirtandwater.
2. DEPLOYMENT & USE
Thefollowingpointsareoperationalrecommendationsestablishedbydeployingthe
Stretchersatmanydierenttraininganddemonstrationevents.MFCacknowledge
thatalmosteveryoperationalscenariowillhavedierenthazardsandrisks,which
canonlybeproperlyassessedat,andduring,anoperationalrescue/recovery.
Warning: Duringuseonwater,mudandsuspectsurfaces,personnelshouldwear
a”Lifejacket”orappropriatebuoyancyaid.Failuretodothismayresult
in personal injury or death.
2.1. Securinglines-WhenusingtheStretcherinfastowingwaterusesecuringlines
attachedtotheTowingpatcheslocatedonthefootendoftheStretcherto
manoeuvreandsecuretheStretchertoconvenienttiepointsonthebank/
shore. (see pg.4 item 9)
Caution:TheStretchershouldonlybesecuredwiththefootendpointingtowards
theowofwatertoreducethepossibilityofwaterswampingthebed.
2.2 Towing-TheStretchermaybetowedonwater,snow,iceormudatamaximum
speedof5mph.ThetowlinemustbesecuredtobothTowingpatcheslocatedat
thefootendoftheStretcher.(seepg.4item9)
Caution: Avoidcontactwithsharporabrasiveobjectsastheymaypuncturethe
fabriccausingalossofbuoyancy.
2.3 Stabilityinwater–Theweightofthetransportedcasualty,shouldifpossible,
bedistributedcentrallyoverthefulllengthofthestretcher.

Caution:DonotpushdownonthesideoftheStretcherinwaterasthismay
causeittotipoverandtrapthecasualty.
2.4 Bodyrestrainingstraps- The casualty can be strapped into the stretcher
during transportation using the 2 diagonal chest restraining straps and the leg
restraining strap. (see pg.4 items 12 & 13) All straps must be tightened to secure
thecasualty.Toundothestrapspresstheredbuttonlocatedonthesideofeach
buckle.
Caution: Ensurethatthetwopartsofthebucklesarepushedtogetherand
securelylocked(audibleclick)beforemovingthecasualty.
2.5. Footsecuringstrap-Thefootsecuringstrapisttedbyplacingthewebbing
loopsoverthefeet.Thecontinuousstrapgoesoverbothinstepsandtheshortstrap
formstwoloopsthatgounderthesolesofthefeet(seepg.4,item14).Thestrap
mustbeadjustedequallyateachendtosecurethecasualtiesfeetinthecentreof
theRecoveryboard.
Warning:Whileusingthestretcheronwater:-
DO NOTleavethecasualtyunattendedatanytime.
DO NOT useandbody/footrestrainingstrapsorziptheoptionalcover
closed,asthecasualtywillbecometrappedunderwaterifthestretcher
capsizes.Thismayresultininjuryordeathofthecasualty.
2.6 Carryinghandles- The Stretcher should only be carried by using the moulded
handlesprovidedoneachside.(seepg.4item10)
2.7 Optionalcover-Aweatherproofcoverisavailablefortheprotectionofthecasualty
inpoorweatherconditions.Thisisttedbylayingthecoveronthestretcherbed
withthewindowfacingupattheheadendofthestretcher.Openthezipandpass
thebuckleendsofthechestandlegstrapsupthroughthecorrespondingslotsin
thecover.Releaseoneendofthefootstrapfromitsbuckleandpassitup
throughtheslotontheoppositesideofthecover.Pushthereleasedbuckleup
throughitsslotandrethreadtheendofthefootstrapmakingsureitisnottwisted.
Pullonthefootstraptoensurethatitissecure.Openthe4Velcropatches
(seepg.4item15)onthecornersofthebedandsecurethecorrespondingVelcro
strapsattachedtothecover.ClosetheVelcroapsandpresstosecure.Thezip
canbeadjustedsothatvaryingamountsofthecovercanbeleftopento
allowaccesstothecasualty.Aclear,openingwindowisprovidedabovethe
casualty’sface.
2.8 HoistLift-TheStretchershouldonlybehoistedbyattachingtheoptionalMfclifting
slingtothefour“D”RingLiftingpatchesttedtothesidesofthestretcher.(seepg.4
item 11)

Note:the2shortlegsoftheslingmustbeattachedtotheheadendofthe
stretcherandthelongerlegstothefootend.Thelegsoftheslingmust
notbetwisted.
Caution:Ensurethattheshacklepinsaresecureandthetangofthe
shacklepinislockedintotheslotonthesideoftheshackle.
Warning:Failuretocorrectlytandsecuretheliftingslingmayresultinthe
injuryordeathofthecasualty.

1. Aftereveryuse,especiallyinsaltwaterandonmudats,theStretchershould
behoseddowninitsinatedstate,toremoveasmuchdebrisaspossible.
2. AllowtheStretchertobecomeasdryaspossiblebeforepacking.
3. LaytheStretcheronaclean,debrisfreearea.
4. DeatetheStretcher.Thisisachievedbydepressingthecentralspindlein
allthreeinate/deatevalves,(pushandturntolockopen).
(seepage4,item6).
5. RollStretcherfromthefootendtoexpeltheair.
6. Un-rolltheStretchertoitsfulllengthonceagain.Foldeachsidetowards
thecentreoftheinatablebed.
7. RollthefoldedStretcherfromthefootendagain,takingcaretomaintain
thewidthoftheroll.
8. Laythevaliseonthegroundasan‘openbox’,placeStretcherintovalise,
closeandsecureusingthewebbingstrapsandbucklesttedtothevalise.
Packing
Storage
1. OnreturntobasetheStretchershouldbeunpacked,inatedandlefttodry.
2. When the Stretcher is completely dry it and its associated equipment should
becheckedforwearordamage.Ifnoneisfounditshouldberepackedinthevalise.
2.1. Ifanydamageisfounditshouldberepairedorreplacedimmediatelyin
accordancewiththeRepairinstructions.
3. WherepossiblethepackedStretchershouldbestoredontheoorofthe
locker/ appliance, ensuring no damage can be caused by it’s proximity to other
itemsofequipment.

1. GENERAL
Itshouldbenotedthat,duetothetypeoffabricsusedinitsconstruction,when
theStretcheriswet,theremaysometimesbevisualevidenceofminisculewhite
bubbles,whichformalineoffrothattheseamsandjointsoftheunit.Thisis
recognisedwithintheindustryas‘lateralleakage’,andissimplyairthatis
trappedinthelayerofnylonbetweentherubbercoatings,forcingitswayto
thenearestavailableedgeofthefabric.Thistypeofleakagewillnotaect
theperformanceofanyinatableproductoverthecourseofanoperational
procedure,andcanbesafelyignored.
However,ifthereisevidenceoflarge,transparentbubbles,thisisclearly
evidenceofaleakthatmustberepairedattheearliestconvenience.
Thefollowingisarecommendedregimeformaintenance&test.
2. QUARTERLY
2.1. Checkcontrolequipmentasperrelevantmanual.
2.2. InateStretchertoworkingpressure.
2.3. Checkaudiblereliefvalveoperation.
2.4. Whilstinationsystemischarged,checkconnectionsandvalvesusingbrush
andsoapywater.
2.5. Whenreliefvalvehasoperated,andtheunitisatworkingpressure;itcanbeleft
tostandforalengthoftimethatwouldbecomparabletoanoperational
situation (e.g. 2 to 3 hours.)
2.6. Afterthistime,theStretchershouldstillberm.
2.7. IftheStretcherhasbecomesoft,theair-lossshouldbelocatedbyapplyinga
soapy-watersolution.
2.8. Anysignicantleaks(See1above)shouldbemarkedandrepairedusingthe
repairkitprovided.
2.9 Inspectoptionalcoverfordamageandrepair/replaceasnecessary.
2.10 Inspectoptionalliftingslingforwearordamageparticularlytothewebbingand
sewing.Ifindoubt,donotuse.

Asageneralrule,puncturesandotherdamagewillneedtobeassessedintwo
categories:a)thatwhichisrepairableatthebase,orb)seriousdamagethatwillneedto
berepairedbyMFCInternationalLtd.
a) Repairsthataremanageableatthebaseworkshopswillbeminor
puncturestoanyareaoftheStretcher.Thesecannormallyberepaired
bytheapplicationofasmallrepairpatch.
b) RepairsthatshouldbecarriedoutbyMFCwillbethemoreserious
kind,suchasdamagedvalves,badlytornfabric(eitheronthesidewalls
ortheatsurfaces)andthereplacementofdamagedttings.

3. RECOMMENDATIONS
1. The Stretcher and its associated equipment should undergo an annual test
carriedoutbythemanufacturer,orpersonscertiedbyMFCInternationalLtd.
Ifindoubt,contacttheservicedepartment.
2. TheStretchershouldbeinspectedandtestedinaccordancewithrelevant
Internationals, European or National standards and appropriate records
maintainedthroughoutitsoperationallife.
