1 GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION
The information that follows, together with local site regulations, must be studied by personnel
concerned with the operation or maintenance of the equipment, to ensure awareness of
potential hazards.
WARNING- GaAs / BeO Hazard : Certain components inside the equipment contain Gallium
Arsenide and Beryllium Oxide which are toxic substances. While safe to handle under normal
circumstances, individual components must not be cut, broken apart, incinerated or chemically
processed. In the case of Beryllium Oxide, a white ceramic material, the principal hazard is from the
dust or fumes which are carcinogenic if ingested, inhaled or entering damaged skin.
Please consult your local solid waste authority before disposing of these components.
CAUTION- Tantalum Capacitors : When subjected to reverse or excess forward voltage, ripple
current or temperature these components may rupture and could potentially cause personal injury.
CAUTION : This system contains MOS devices. Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) precautions should
be employed to prevent accidental damage.
CAUTION - AC supply connection and protective earth. The RFX-HD-D is a Class 1 device and
when used with an AC supply must be connected to a ground. Installation should always follow local
wiring regulations. Failure to provide adequate grounding may result in high voltages on the unit
chassis.
The equipment is supplied with an AC power supply connector and cord assembly. The wires in the
cord are colored in accordance with the following convention:-
Green and yellow - Ground
Blue - Neutral
Brown - Live
Always ensure that the equipment is correctly connected. Failure to connect the equipment correctly
may render protective devices inoperative; if in doubt consult a qualified electrician.
On some types of equipment the Power on/off switch is functional on only one line of the AC supply.
To be certain that the equipment is isolated the AC the supply should always be unplugged from the
AC outlet.

2 INTRODUCTION
The RFX-HD-D is a stand alone ASI decoder for SD / HD MPEG2 digital video. The unit accepts ASI
DVB transport stream at the input, decodes the signal according to MPEG2 profiles, and outputs 1
video plus the associated audios. Output formats include:-
•HD SDI video
•SD SDI video
•SD analog video CVBS (PAL or NTSC)
•SD analog video component Y/C
•Digital audio
oSDI embedded
o2 x stereo Digital audio AES / EBU
•4 x analog audios
The HD-D occupies 1 U rack mount and powers from 110 / 230 VAC.
The unit is compatible with RF Central digital receivers when operated in the ASI mode. The HD-D, for
example, may be used as an add-on box to decode HD wireless camera transmitters using an SD
capable digital receiver.
