Important Safety Information
• This product is only intended for audio entertainment. Do not use the product for
any other purpose than described in is manual in order to avoid any hazardous
situation. Improper use is dangerous and will void any warranty claim.
• For household use only. Do not use outdoors.
• Danger! Excessive sound pressure from earphones and headphones can cause
hearing loss. If you listen to loud music for a long time, your hearing may be
impaired. Set to a moderate volume.
• Danger of suffocation! Keep all packaging material away from children.
• Only use under normal room temperature and humidity conditions.
• The product is only suitable for use at moderate degrees of latitude. Do not use in
the tropics or in particularly humid climates.
• Outdoor antennas should be located away from power lines.
• Do not move the product from cold into warm places and vice versa. Condensation
can cause damage to the product and electrical parts.
• Do not use attachments or accessories other an recommended by the manufacturer
or sold with this appliance. Install in accordance with is user manual.
• When installing the product, leave sufficient space for ventilation. Do not install in
bookcases, built-in cabinets or the like.
• Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves or
other appliances (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
• Do not apply excessive force to the front or top, as is could ultimately overturn the
product.
• Do not shift or move the product when powered on.
• Do not touch, push or rub the surface of the product with any sharp or hard objects.
• Danger! To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose this product to
rain or moisture.
• The product should not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no objects filled
with liquids, such as vases, should be placed on the product.
• No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the product.
• Before connecting the product to a socket outlet, make sure the voltage indicated
on the product corresponds to your local mains.
• Never pull the adaptor power plug by the supply cord or with wet hands.
• Disconnect the adaptor power plug in case of faults during use, during lightning
storms, before cleaning and when not using the product for a longer period of time.
• Danger! Before cleaning, switch the product off and disconnect the adaptor power
plug from the socket.
• When the product has reached the end of its service life, make it defective by
disconnecting the adaptor power plug from the socket and cut the cord in two.

Precautions
1. For AC operation, make sure the voltage is compatible. Always use the
supplied AC power cord; never use other AC power cord.
2. Always disconnect the AC power cord from the AC power source when it
is not in use.
3. Your product requires 3 x C batteries (not provided) for portable
operation.
4. Batteries should be removed and replaced by adults only.
5. Only use recommended batteries or those of the same or equivalent type.
6. Do not mix old and new batteries or batteries of different types.
7. Batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarity.
8. The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
9. Remove exhausted batteries from item.
10.Remove batteries if equipment is not used for extended periods of time.
11. Rechargeable batteries are to be removed from the item before being
recharged.
12.Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision.
13.Do not attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries.
14.Batteries contain substances that may be harmful to the environment and
human health.
15.Keep out of the reach of children and seek immediate medical help if
swallowed.
This symbol indicates that batteries should not be disposed of in
the normal household waste but taken to appropriate local
recycling facilities, where and when these are available

Basic Operation
1. POWER SUPPLY
AC Operation
• Insert one end of the supplied AC power cord into the AC IN socket
located at the back of the radio and insert the other end into the wall
outlet and switch on. The radio will automatically go into standby
mode when connecting to AC power.
• To disconnect the radio from the AC supply completely, unplug the
AC power cord plug from the wall outlet and from the back of the
radio.
DC (battery) Operation
• To operate your radio on batteries, the AC adaptor must be
disconnected from the radio and wall socket. If not, the unit will
continue to operate on AC power, instead of DC batteries.
• Insert 3 batteries, type R14, UM2 or C cells (not included) into
battery compartment and then close the compartment cover.
Warning: When planning not to use the radio for prolonged periods of
time (i.e., a vacation) disconnect the plug from the wall outlet.
Note: Check your batteries regularly. Old or discharged batteries
should be replaced. If the unit is not to be used for some time or is
being used exclusively on AC main power supply, remove the batteries
from the battery compartment to avoid leakage.
2. NORMAL OPERATION
• Press and hold the POWER/MODE button to switch the radio on.
When your radio is switched on for the rst time it will automatically
enter the DAB mode and perform a Full Auto Scan.
• To change mode Quick press POWER/MODE button once or more
to select FM, AM, or DAB. The display shows the radio station
details throughout the radio mode.
• To search for other stations continue to press the / button until
you nd the station that you want to listen to then press SELECT
button to conrm the station selection.
• To adjust the volume press either VOL- or VOL+ to decrease or
increase the volume.

• To switch the radio into standby mode, press and hold POWER/
MODE button to enter Standby.
• When using DC Battery power, to switch off the radio, press and
hold POWER/MODE button to switch the radio off.
Note: (There is no standby mode when using DC Battery power to
save battery life)
3. LISTENING TO DAB RADIO
• Press and hold the POWER/MODE button to switch the radio on.
When your radio is switched on for the rst time it will automatically
enter the DAB mode and perform a Full Auto Scan.
• During the scan, the display will show “Scanning………” together
with a progress bar that indicates the progress and the number of
stations that have been found so far. Once the scan has nished,
the unit will select the rst found station.
• To search for other stations continue to press the / button
until you nd the station that you want to listen to then press the
SELECT button to conrm the station selection.
To repeat an Auto Scan, switch the radio on, then press and hold the
SCAN button until the display shows “Scanning ………” together with
a progress bar that indicates the progress of the scan and the number
stations that have been found so far.
DAB Auto Scan: A full auto scan will search the entire DAB Band for
all available stations.
4. MANUAL SCAN
As well as Auto Scan, Radio Station Frequencies can be manually
selected. You can manually tune to a particular channel/frequency,
and you will need to know the missing radio station Frequency to
complete a Manual tune.
• With the radio switched on press and hold MENU/INFO button, then
press / until the display shows “Manual tune” and then press
SELECT.
• Press / to select desired channel (5A-13F), press SELECT to
enter the channel.

5. LISTENING TO AM / FM MODE
Manual tuning
• When in FM or AM mode Press / once or more until the desired
frequency is found.
Automatic tuning
• Press and hold the SCAN button until the display frequency starts
to run.
• When a station of sufcient strength has been found it will stop
tuning, or you can start automatic tuning by pressing SCAN again.
6. PRESET MEMORY SETTINGS
You can store the frequencies of up to 60 radio stations in the memory,
(20 in DAB+, 20 in FM and 20 in AM). A stored frequency can be
erased from the memory by storing another frequency in its place.
To preset a station in DAB, FM or AM mode.
• Select your desired band, DAB+, FM or AM and tune to your desired
station.
• Press and hold the PRESET button until you see Preset Store in the
display.
• Press / to select the desired memory position/number and press
SELECT to conrm the selected station to that position/number.
You also have 10 Quick Preset buttons: To preset a station to a
quick preset button 1-0, press and hold the desired PRESET button
1-0 until “Preset Store” appears in the display
Preset Recall Settings
• To Recall a preset station press the PRESET button to enter Preset
Recall mode and press / to select the desired saved station and
press the SELECT button to recall / play that station.
• To Recall a Quick preset position 1-0 just quick press the desired
saved number to play the station saved to it.
To improve reception:
• For FM, pull out the telescopic aerial. To improve FM Reception
incline and turn the aerial, reduce its length if the FM-signal is too
strong (close to a transmitter).
• For AM, the set is provided with a built-in aerial, so there is no need
to use the telescopic aerial. Turn or move the radio to nd the best
position or location.

7. LISTENING TO HEADPHONES
You can connect a set of headphones (not included) to 3.5mm
HEADPHONE output jack. The radios speaker is then muted.
Note: Avoid listening to headphones at high volume levels to prevent
possible hearing damage.
8. SETTING TIME
When used in DAB radio mode the radio scans the DAB radio signal for
the current time which will appear on the display. If no DAB signal is found,
the time cannot be set. It may be necessary to relocate your radio to a
better position giving better reception or set the time manually.
9. AUTO TIME SETTINGS
With the radio switched on Press and hold MENU/INFO button until you
see Full Scan in the display then Press / until the display shows
“System” and press SELECT to conrm, then Press / until the display
shows “Time” and press SELECT to enter Time settings.
• Auto update: Press / until the display shows “Auto update”, then
press SELECT and press / to select update From Radio or No
Update, then press SELECT.
• 12/24 Hour time: Press / until the display shows “Set 12 / 24
hour”, and press SELECT then Press / to Set 12 or 24 hour
selection and press SELECT to conrm.
• Set date format: Press / until the display shows “Set date format”
and press SELECT, then Press / to Set DD-MM-YYYY or
MM-DD-YYYY selection and press SELECT to conrm.
Default is DD-MM-YYYY
10. MANUAL TIME SET
• With the radio switched on Press and hold MENU/INFO button until you
see Full Scan in the display then Press / until the display shows
“System” and press SELECT to conrm,
• then Press / until the display shows “Time” and press SELECT to
enter and the display will show “Set Time / Date”, then press SELECT.
to enter time and date detup.
To set the hours, minutes, and dates, press / while the display is still
ashing, then press SELECT to conrm hours, minutes and dates.

11. ALARM SETTINGS
Note: Alarm functions will not work on battery power, the Radio must be
connected to mains power source for Alarms to function.
The RR28DABAM radio has 2 alarm functions for 2 different alarm
settings (Alarm 1 and Alarm 2) Once an alarm is activated you will nd
the alarm icon in the display.
Alarm Setup
• With the radio switched on press and hold MENU/INFO button until
you see “Full Scan” in the display, then press / until the display
shows “System” then press SELECT.
• Press / until the display shows “Set Alarm,” then press SELECT
to conrm.
• Press / to select “Alarm 1 or Alarm 2”, then press SELECT to
conrm.
• Press / to select “Alarm On”, then press SELECT to conrm.
• Note: To deactivate the alarm, select “Alarm Off”.
• 5. Now the hour digits ash. Press / to set the hour for you alarm
and press SELECT to conrm.
• 6. The minute digits ash. Press / to set the minute for you alarm,
and press SELECT to conrm.
• 7. If using 12-hour time Press / to set AM or PM for you alarm, and
press SELECT to conrm.
• 8. Press / to select a frequency from Daily, Once, Weekdays or
Weekends, then press SELECT to conrm.
• 9. Press / to select the sound source from: DAB, FM Radio
or BEEPER and press SELECT to conrm. Note: AM cannot be
slecteted as an alarm wake up option.
• 10. Press / to set the volume for your alarm, then press SELECT
to conrm.
Your Alarm is now set, when the radio is switched off the Alarm icon will
appear in the display.
Snooze Function
• When alarm sounds, you can press the SELECT button to temporarily
suspend the alarm. The radio will alarm again in 9 minutes. (The
Snooze interval time is 9 minutes).
• Snooze can be repeated until another button is pressed.

Sleep Mode Setting
• With the radio switched on Press and hold MENU/INFO button until
you see “DAB <FULL SCAN>” in the display.
• Press the / button until the display shows “System”, then
press SELECT to conrm, the display will then show “Sleep”, press
SELECT to conrm.
• Then press the / button to select either OFF or choose the
desired Sleep time 15 / 30 / 45 / 60 / 90 minutes and press SELECT
to conrm, after a few seconds or if you press the MENU/INFO button
twice the display will return to normal radio mode and a S will appear
in the right side of the display indicating Sleep Timer is active.
• You can still press the POWER/MODE button to turn off the radio at
any time.
12. BACKLIGHT TIME OUT SETTINGS
• With the Radio switched on Press and hold the MENU/INFO button
until you see “Full Scan” in the display and then press the /
button until the display shows “System” and press SELECT to
conrm, then the press / button until you see Backlight in the
display and press SELECT to conrm and the display will show
“Timeout” and then press SELECT to enter Timeout options.
• Using the / button you can select ON, (Always on), or 10, 20,
30, 45, 60, 90, 120, 180, The factory default is 30 seconds.
13. FACTORY RESET
If you experience any issues with your radio a factory reset can restore
your radio’s software.
To complete a factory reset:
• With the Radio switched on Press and hold the MENU/INFO button
until you see “Full Scan” in the display and then press the /
button until the display shows “System” then press SELECT to
conrm, Press / until you see Factory reset in the display and
press SELECT now press / to select Yes and press SELECT to
conrm and a Factory Reset will begin.
Note: The radio will then complete a Factory reset and switch to standby.
When the radio is switched on the radio will commence a new DAB
Auto scan.

THE ENCLOSED TERMS AND CONDITIONS RELATE TO THE WARRANTY
PROVIDED BY RICHTER AUDIO PTY LTD (“Richter Audio”) (ABN 22 613 067
815) products purchased within Australia.
This warranty applies for a period of 1 Year (12 months) from the date of
purchase (“Warranty Period”)
GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF STANDARD WARRANTY
1 Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the
Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a
major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or
damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the
goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a
major failure.
2 The benets to the consumer given by this Warranty are in addition to other
rights and remedies of the consumer under a law in relation to goods or
services to which the warranty relates, being the Australian Consumer Law.
3 Subject to Clause 1 above and the terms below, as your Standard Warranty,
Richter Audio agrees to repair or replace at cost the Richter product, and
any accessory supplied with the product, purchased by you in Australia
when the product does not perform in accordance with the manufacturer’s
specications during the Warranty period.
4 To make a claim under the Standard Warranty you will need to:
(a) Contact Richter Audio through our website www.richter.com.au for
customer support.
(b) Refund or replacement via your Richter Audio’s Authorised Retailer is
available for a period of 14 days after purchase for goods that have been
inspected and determined to have a major failure. Refund and exchange is
not applicable if you change your mind after purchase.
(c) Note that you will need to submit proof of purchase (e.g. delivery invoice,
invoice or purchase receipt) with your claim.
5 Products presented for repair may be replaced by refurbished products of
the same type rather than being repaired. Refurbished parts may be used to
repair the products. Replacement of the product or a part does not extend or
restart the Warranty Period.
6 If the product presented for repair is capable of retaining user-generated
data, you are advised that repair of the product may result in loss of the data.
Richter Audio shall not be held responsible for any loss of such data as a
consequence of fault-nd or repair process.

7 The product will be at the owner’s risk whilst in transit to and from the Richter
Audio Service Centre, unless transported by Richter Audio or 3rd party
transport booked by Richter Audio.
8 Richter Audio will bear the expense of transport where transported by Richter
Audio. Any other expense of claiming the warranty will be covered by the
owner of the goods.
9 Richter Audio may seek reimbursement of any costs incurred by them when
the product is found to be in good working order. The owner of the goods will
cover any return transport cost.
10 Products returned to Richter Audio by a courier and are damaged in transit by
insufcient packing will be quoted and the cost of the repair will be covered by
the owner of the goods.
EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS
11 Subject always to Clause 1 the Standard Warranty will not apply:
(a) if the product has not been installed, operated, maintained or used in
accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions or specications provided
with the product.
(b) to damage, malfunction or failure resulting from alterations, accident,
misuse, abuse, re, liquid spillage, mis-adjustment of customer controls, use
on an incorrect voltage, power surges and dips, thunderstorm activity, acts
of God, voltage supply problems, tampering or unauthorised repairs by any
persons, use of defective or incompatible accessories, the operation of a
computer virus of any kind, exposure to abnormally corrosive conditions or
entry by any insect, vermin or foreign object in the product.
(c)to damage arising during transportation, installation or while moving the
product, or to any transportation costs of the product or any parts thereof to
and from the owner, unless otherwise specied in this Warranty.
(d) to any third-party software or hardware not contained in the product as
originally congured by the manufacturer.
(e) to any failure, to the extent that the failure is not a failure of the product to
perform in accordance with its specications.
