If, during the feed in process a blockage or restriction is
met then gently re-try by drawing the rod back a metre
and re-inserting. Using a stabbing action or forcing the
rod could damage existing equipment in the channel. If
this fails, try feeding the rod from the other end of the
run. Once the rod is at a desired position, re-tighten the
parking brake with clockwise rotation so the reel will not
rotate in the frame.
Typical Techniques
Either
1Attach the cable to the guide tip first then feed the rod out to the destination.
2Feed the rod to the destination, attaching the cable then pulling it back.
3Feed the rod to the destination, attach to eye, draw cable back
4Feed the rod to the destination and draw back a rope to be left in place for the next use.
Note
• Always ensure that the cable is securely attached to the guide tip
• Where possible, feed the cable through the rope eye and double it back on itself.
• Secure with strong tape or a suitable clamp.
• Avoid creating too large a ‘knot’ when attaching to the guide tip.
• Make sure that there are no awkward ends that could become trapped within the service.

Feed the rod slowly into the service, until the guide tip
reaches the destination.
To use release the parking brake by rotating anti
clockwise until the reel can rotate freely in the frame.
